He is 23 (28?) NY, a jeweler, Melvina Lynde his wife 22 NY, Ida 3 IL, and Naomi 4/12 IL. Also there is Daniel Putnam 70 VT, a retired carpenter. Interesting. Daniel was here in 1860 and in 1850 was in Otsego County, New York. He is from Grafton, Vermont and his line was given back in 1860. Okay, here we go. This guy is NOT the William Henry Harrison here in 1860. This is Daniel’s son listed as Morancy in 1860. Age, birthplace and occupation are identical. Morancy married Melvina Lynde here April 21, 1867. The other William married Sacia McDonald who is shown above as widowed. Best, but wild, guess is that after William from Mass. died around 1868, Morancy got tired of his name and took William’s name for some reason. Everything fits, but it’s quite confusing. But then they are in Carthage, Jasper County, Missouri and he again uses the name Morancy. So more likely the census taker screwed up on this listing. Good luck on this one.
