Census Reports
1810 & 1820
===============
In the
1810 census both males and females are broken into 0-9, 10- 15, 16-25, 26-44,
45 and over.
JOEL PUTNAM Becket, Berkshire County
Listing
is 40010 11010. He would be a son of
Isaac Putnam (226). His wife is Sally. Sally will die in 1813. By the birth of
James in 1815, his wife will be Elizabeth according to town records.
NATHAN PUTNAM Becket, Berkshire County
Listing
is 00001 00202. Another of Isaacճ sons. According to Becket records he has a wife
named Lydia who will die here November 28, 1815 at age 60. According to Becket
records, he then married Lucinda Walker here May 31, 1818. He and his brother
David are here in 1820, and by 1830, only David is still here. According to a
Walker Genealogy, Nathan and Lucinda moved to Greece, Monroe County, New York,
probably in the 1820s. He will die there in New York.
Canմ find him in the census, but he
and Hannah are here and will be in 1820 and through 1850.
Listing
is 30010 20010. Number 1047. He is a son
of Eleazer Putnam (409) and Mary Crosby of Medford, Mass. He was born there
November 12, 1767. He married Fiche Van Deusen, and
had two daughters. She died and he married Lendy Andress, his current wife. In 1817, the family will head
out to Granville, Bradford County, Pennsylvania and remain there. He will die
there May 31, 1844, Lendy on April 3, 1841.
Listing
is 11001 01110. Number 977. He is a son
of John Putnam (384) and Martha Woodward of Preston, Connecticut. He was born
there on March 7, 1765. He married Philena Curtis of Hampton, Connecticut on
April 13, 1791. They moved here from Dalton a few years ago. He will die here
January 21, 1826, and Philena will move in with their son Henry until she dies
in 1836.
Listing
is 01000 00101. Still here. She will die
here March 13, 1813 at age 53. Remember, this is a Dutch family out of Montgomery
County. Rebecca Davis was born here, and returned after her husband David
Putman died.
Listing
is 02301 00101. He looks like the guy
who was in Ward in 1790 and in Granville in 1800. We canմ
figure this guy out, but he might be the John whose wife is named Mary. That
John ended up in Ontario, Wayne County, New York, and looks like he died before
1820. His son George was there in the 1820 census with his mother Mary. Mary
died there in 1844. There are 5 sons shown here, and most seem to have remained
in New York. George, Frederick and Thomas are all in Wayne County at one time
or another. They were born in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont, so their
dad John moved around a lot. I canմ be sure, but this
John was probably the one who was married to Mary and ended up in New York
State. But, even if this guy is that guy, we have no idea who his folks were or
how he fits into the picture. One ossibleՠis John
number 543 from Sutton, Mass.
Listing
is 00001 00001. They were in Providence
County, Rhode Island in 1800, and he was listed as Elisha Putnam then. Bristol
County abuts Providence County, so the move was short. Current thinking is that
he is number 989, a son of Fuller Putnam (391) and his first wife Mary Cummings
of Sutton, Massachusetts. He was born there September 27, 1754, and married
Elizabeth Harback. They moved to Maine in the late
1700s, and he operated a mill till the late 1790s or so. He will die in the
next few years, as his will was probated in New Salem, Mass. in 1813.
Listing
is 12020 32010. Number 737, a son of
Deacon Edmund Putnam (272) and Anna Andrews. He was born in Danvers January 15,
1772, and will die in Beverly March 26, 1828. He married Martha Trask in
Beverly October 19, 1795. They were in Danvers in 1800. She will die in 1811,
and he will marry Sarah Hutchinson, widow of Josiah Choate, in 1813. They will
be here the rest of their lives.
Listing
is 11101 01010. He is number 841, a son
of Aaron Putnam (313) and Lydia Waters. He was born in Danvers May 7, 1764 and

Asa Putnam (258). She was born August 4, 1765 and will die here January 28,
1840.
Listing
is 20020 21110. He is number 1001, a son
of John Putnam (393) and Mary Cummings of Sutton, Mass. Simeon was born August
10, 1760 in Charlton, and will die out here in Peabody. He married Martha
Batchelder February 2, 1794. This line is Simeon > John > Jeptha > Eleazer > John > John.
Somehow
the 1810 got screwed up in transcription. Many of the families that are in
Danvers are listed in sections of Middletown and Topsfield. These are abutting
towns to the North of Danvers. Somehow the names and entries were transcribed
on wrong pages. So, I am putting them all into Danvers where they belong and
where they will be in 1920.
Listing
is 56110 37121. He is number 1766, a son

here February 4, 1772 and will die here October 24, 1848. His wife is Desire

1783.

was a daughter of Nathaniel Webb and Eunice Porter. She will die in 1843, and
he will marry Priscilla Dutch in 1844. She will die in 1856 and he will marry
Mrs. Sophia Clemment. This line is Eben > Stephen > Stephen > Benjamin > Nathaniel
> John. Now, these kids arenմ all his. There are
three Putnam families listed together; Eben, his
brother Moses and his widowed mother Susannah. He has one young son, Edwin, and
the others are probably siblings.
