BEN (BENJAMIN MILLER) PUTMAN Hardwick, Blount County
Andrew's son is now 28 AL AL AL and his wife Margaret Magourik is 22 AL AL AL. They have been married two years. They are next door to his widowed mother Rachel Putman. He is a son of Andrew Jackson Putman and Rachel Clementine Pierce and was born January 19, 1884. He married Josephine Margaret Magourik in 1908. Ben was born January 9, 1884 and will die here July 1, 1964. Margaret was born October 3, 1887 and dies here August 7, 1951. Both are buried at the Antioch Methodist Cemetery in Oneonta. Now, see the entries in 1920 as things get a bit confusing.
J. L. (JAMES LOUIS) PUTMAN Gum Springs, Blount County
He is 28 AL SC GA, his wife Bessie Moore is 20 AL and Cecil E. 2 AL. Also there is his mother Mary Lou Kelly 67 GA and her mother, Jane Kelly age 92. His dad, Reuben Ira Putman, has just died here September 7, 1908. Mary Lou is still with them in 1920 and will then die February 16, 1921. James was born July 24, 1881, and died July 21, 1959. His wife is Bessie Moore was born in September 1889 and died July 16, 1979. They are here through the 1930 and will be till they die.
JAMES E. PUTMAN Gum Springs, Blount County
He now is 55 AL SC SC, Eliza Rutherford his wife is 47 AL TN AL, Edna 26 AL, Lula 24 AL, Persey (Percy Lee Grant) 17 AL, (James) Rufus 14 AL, Frank R. (Robert) 12 AL and Marie 6 AL. He is a son of John Calhoun and Nancy Putman, and was born in Alabama in 1850. He married Eliza Alice Rutherford here on November 8, 1877. They will remain in Blount County through 1920 when he is 68 and Eliza 59. Eliza is widowed here in 1930.
JOHN T. (THOMAS) PUTMAN Hardwick, Blount County
Andrew’s son is 30 AL AL AL and a farmer. His wife Lula (Lucille Gulledge) is 28 AL, Clara (Chloe) 7 AL, Everett 6 AL, Alton 4 AL and Jewell 1 AL. There is a John Gulledge 26 AL and a family living next door. Probably Rachel’s brother. He is a son of Andrew Jackson Putman and Rachel Clementine Pierce and was born here March 17, 1880 on Saint Patty's day. He was still home in 1900. He married Lucille Gulledge about 1902. He will die in May 1979 (social security index). His wife will die November 7, 1917. He is widowed in 1920, but has a new wife Mary here in 1930.
JOHN W. (WESLEY) PUTMAN Pocahontas, Blount County
John Wesley is a son of John Calhoun Putman. He is now 60 AL SC AL, Millie Holly his wife 57 AL AL AL. They have been married 40 years now. They have Lula 25 AL (listed Ella in 1900) and Tillie 18 AL. Matilda was not listed in 1900. John was born in January 1848 in Alabama. He married Milly Angeline Holly January 19, 1871. They here through 1920 he was listed as 70 and she at 65. He will die October 15, 1921.
RACHEL PUTMAN Hardwick, Blount County
Rachel Pierce is the widow of Andrew Jackson Putman who has died recently. She is 55 GA, Jim (James Joshua) 33 AL, Leonia 21 AL, Columbus 19 GA, Clifton 14 GA. Rachel is still around in 1930 with some of the kids. Andrew was a son of William Wilson Putman and Susan Hullett.
RICHARD L. (LANDER) PUTMAN Gum Springs, Blount County
He is a farmer 38 AL AL AL, his wife Lottie (Charlotte Harris) 38 AL, Irene 12 AL, Dixie 10 AL, Bonnie 5 AL and Braxton 2 AL. He is a son of John Wesley Putman and Millie Holly Putman. He was born October 18, 1870, and will die January 5, 1944. His wife Charlotte, I believe her last name was Harris, was born in May 1871 and died November 24, 1925. William Harris 71 AL and his new second wife Mary 76 AL live either with them or next door. I assume this is Lottie’s daddy. They are here in 1920. In 1930, he is in Marshall County with a new wife Ida E. who was married to a Harmon before and has a 10 year old daughter with her. It looks like he just deserted all his kids as in 1930 they are all still in here Blount County.
HARVEY A. (ALONZO) PUTNAM Georgiana, Butler County
He is 50 NY, his wife Ida Housel is 49 NY and they have Ida M. 19 NY, Minnie 15 NY, Martin 11 NY and Albert 7 NY. He is working in a sawmill here. He is Harvey Alonzo Putnam, son of Frederick Alonzo Putnam and Lucinda Martin of Orleans County. They were in Orleans County and then briefly here since about 1908. They will be back in Attica, Wyoming County New York by 1920. Albert will be stationed at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba in 1920, but will be back in Attica married in 1930 and 1940. Ida is widowed there in 1930 and 1940.
CLAUD S. (CLAUDIUS SAMUEL) PUTMAN Alexandria, Calhoun County
John’s son is 22 AL GA GA and his wife of 3 years Cora is 18 GA AL AL. He is a son of John L. Putman and Sarah Texanna McArry. He was born here in November 1887. His dad died in the 1890s and his widowed mother who is here in town. In 1920 he has his mom with him then. He and Cora still won’t have any kids, but will by 1930. He is a farmer.
TEXANNA PUTMAN Alexandria, Calhoun County
She is Sarah Texanna McArry, 50 AL, the widow of John L. Putman who died in the 1890s. They were married in Calhoun County on August 15, 1872. She is listed as a mother in law of Jesse Crow 45 AL who married her daughter Elizabeth Ann 36 AL. John L. Putman was a son of Forester Putman and Ayrie Birch. She’ll be here with her son Claude in 1920.
LIZZIE PUTMAN Duke, Calhoun County
She is 43 AL AL AL and says she is widowed as she said in 1900, but is really divorced. Being divorced back then wasn’t the greatest and most of the entries I have seen on divorced people say they are widowed, even if both are still in the same area. She is listed as a daughter of William Duke. She is Mary Elizabeth Duke, and she was married to James Van Putman October 4, 1885 and divorced by the early 1890s. He is a son of John W. Putman and Angie Walker from here in Calhoun County. James has his own listing with another wife Ella Brown in Marion County in 1900 and 1920 and probably now too. Lizzie has a son Leroy 22 AL AL AL with her now as she did in 1900. By 1920 Roy is married to Jessie M. Ford and they are in Etowah County and Mary Elizabeth is there with them as well. Same in 1930.
WILLIAM S. (SILAS) PUTMAN Precinct 10, Calhoun County
He is a son of Silas Cass Putman and Nancy Meadows and has a general farm. He was born in Cherokee County in July 1880. Anyway, he is 30 AL AL AL, Fannie W. 23 AL, Julia B. 12 AL, Robert Dewey 9 AL, William Roosevelt 5 AL and Burney Lewis 5 months old AL. He married Elizabeth Williams in Cherokee County January 3, 1897 and was with her in Calhoun County Alabama in 1900. She died in 1901, and he married Fannie Wilson Stephenson on August 17, 1902. He will die here January 1, 1916. Fannie will then marry Charles Ayers and are here in Calhoun County in 1920 with her children. Charley later deserted her and the kids. Fannie and the kids will be in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1930.
T. (THOMAS) NEWTON PUTNAM Charleston, Charleston County
He is 39 AL and his wife Tracy DeRossett is 39 TN. He is a son of Isaac Thomas Putman and Mary Susan Wheeler. He was born in Cleburne County Alabama October 15, 1900. He married Tracy DeRossett in about 1922-23. He died in Nashville, Davidson County Tennessee in September 1968. Tracy was born in Cumberland County Tennessee April 28, 1900 and died in Chattanooga, Tennessee April 18, 1982. Here is part of their obituaries. ‘While Newt was working as a bookkeeper at the Atlanta Clearing House processing bank checks, he met Tracy. She was a daughter of Zachariah DeRossett and Martha Dorton. After her mother died, Tracy was placed in a foster home in Lula, Georgia where she lived until about age 20. She maintained life-long contacts with her foster family. In the early 1920s, she moved to Atlanta, working at the Atlanta Clearing House. There she met Newt Putnam whom she married about 1923. In the late 1920s, Tracy worked as a sales clerk at Sears Roebuck & Co in Atlanta They were married about 1923. In the late 1920s, he worked as a salesman at various furniture stores in Atlanta. During the mid-1930s, Newt and Tracy lived in Barnwell, South Carolina, where they operated a furniture store. About 1940, they moved to Charleston, South Carolina, where Newt was a partner in the Lea & Putnam Furniture Store. In the mid-1960s, after Tracy's brother-in-law, Nick Burgess, died, Tracy and Newt moved to Nashville to live with her sister, Jessie DeRossett Burgess. Newt and Tracy had no children.’
He is 58 NC NC NC and owns a farm. His wife Bertha Ray McSwain is 51 SC and they have Leonard 15 SC, Jack 12 SC and Bessie 10 SC. He is a son of Anzie McFee Putman and Harriet McIntyre from Cleveland County North Carolina. Bertha is wife number 3. He was briefly married to Rebecca Jane Willmon from 1909-1911. She died and he married Minnie Florence Grigg who died in March 1920 back in North Carolina. He married Bertha two months later in July 1920. He took off on the kids from his second marriage who are back in Cleveland County NC with their grandparents the Griggs. Bertha will die in 1946 and he’ll marry Ruby Evans in 1949.
ROBERT A. (ALEXANDER) PUTMAN Cherokee, Cherokee County
He is 65 NC NC NC and an electrician at the power plant. His wife Willie Rosalie Rippy is 60 NC. Also here is their married daughter Flora Moss 34 NC and her son Joseph 16 TN. He is a son of Anzie McFee Putman and Harriet McIntyre from Cleveland County North Carolina and was born there January 1, 1875. He’ll be here till he dies February 11, 1950. Willie was born November 25, 1874 and will die here April 13, 1944.
He is 50 NC NC NC and owns his farm. His wife Sudie B. Foster is 44 SC and they have William F. 23 SC, Flora 21 SC, Lee T. (Jr.) 19 SC, Eugene W. 17 SC, Catherine 15 SC and Janelle 10 SC. He is a son of Franklin A. Putnam and Eliza Allen from Cleveland County. They were here in 1920. He’ll be around here till he dies in 1947. He was born April 2, 1890 and will die November 13, 1947. He married Sadie B. Foster on December 7, 1911. She was born December 23, 1895 and will die in Shelby, North Carolina on April 10, 1990 at age 94.
GEORGE ELZA PUTMAN Borden Springs, Cleburne County
Thomas Monroe's son is 49 AL AL AL, Mary Ann Cooley 50 AL AL AL, Lee G. 14 AL, Charlie L 12 AL, Robert M. 9 AL, Madie 6 AL. He has a home farm. George is a son of Thomas Monroe Putman and Martha Jane Thomas. He was born February 4, 1861. He is here in Cleburne County through 1930. He married Mary Ann Cooley about 1883. She was born June 9, 1859 and died August 9, 1933. George died October 28, 1933.
ISAAC THOMAS PUTMAN Borden Springs, Cleburne County
He is a home farmer 53 AL AL AL, Mary Susan Wheeler his wife 45 AL AL AL, John Campbell 21 AL and his wife of 1 year Sarah Putman 19 AL AL AL, Monroe Anderson 17 AL, Byron Eugene 12 AL, Lula Mae 14 AL, Thomas Newton 9 AL and Anna Frances 5 AL. He has been married 26 years. His other married son William Howard Putman lives next door. And then the son Monroe will be married here in 1920. John Campbell will die of the Flu February 5, 1919. His wife Sarah Willie is a Putman too. She is a daughter of George Eliza Putman and Mary Ann Cooley from here. They are here still in 1920 too. Isaac is a son of Thomas Monroe Putman and Martha Jane Thomas. He was born August 11, 1856 and died in Fulton County Georgia in April 1925. His wife is Mary Susan Wheeler, born March 26, 1865 and died October 7, 1928 also in Fulton County.
JAMES H. (HIRAM) PUTMAN Borden Springs, Cleburne County
Thomas Monroe's son is 59 AL AL AL, Anne Elizabeth 58 AL and Elizabeth is 24 AL. He is a son of Thomas Monroe Putman and Martha Jane Thomas born in 1850. They are here in 1920.
MANCIE (MONROE) W. PUTMAN Borden Springs, Cleburne County
He is a son of James Hiram and Elizabeth Putman and was born in May 1873. He used the name Manse, and is a miner in an iron mine. He is 36 AL AL AL, Bettie 37 AL AL AL, James E. 17 AL, Bluford M.(Monroe) 16 AL, Minnie M. 13 AL, Wright J. 4 AL. They will have a daughter Christine in 1914 and be in Calhoun County in 1920.
SILAS C. (CASS) PUTMAN Borden Springs, Cleburne County
He is now 62 AL TN GA, Margaret Wheeler his second wife is 50 AL KY TN, Alex G. 12 AL, Jessie A. 9 AL, Nellie M. 6 AL and Nancy 3 AL. He has a home farm. He is a son of Thomas Monroe Putman and Martha Jane Thomas.
WILLIE H. (WILLIAM HOWARD) PUTMAN Borden Springs, Cleburne County
He is William Howard Putman, the eldest son of Isaac Putman and Mary Susan Wheeler from here. He is 23 AL AL AL, Ruthie P. Waits his wife is 20 AL AL AL. They have been married just over 3 years and have Thurston P. 3 AL and Mary Jane 3 months old AL. He was born April 28, 1886. He married Ruth P. Waits. She was born January 13, 1890 and died in childbirth February 23, 1912. I don’t find him in 1820, but by 1830 Thurston is married in Atlanta Georgia. He lives next to his folks on one sine and his uncle George on the other.
JOHN C. (CALHOUN) PUTMAN Holly Pond, Cullman County
He is a son of Reuben Ira Putman and Mary Lou Kelly from Blount County. He is 34 AL AL AL, Susan Leanna Gill his wife is 30 AL AL AL, Athia L. 9 AL, Inez H. 7 AL, Willie Mae 5 AL and Luina M. 3 AL. He was born in April 1876. In 1900 they were in Blount County and they are here in Cullman in 1920. He is in Birmingham in the 1930 census with his two youngest kids but no Leanna. Says he is still married though.
DAVID LUMPKIN PUTNAM Selma, Dallas County
This is David Junior from Cherokee County Georgia. He is 47 GA GA GA, Mary Jane Thompson 41 GA, Odian Wilson 19 GA, Samuel Lumpkin 15 GA, Charles David 12 GA and Otti (William Ottis) 8 AL. He is a son of David Lumpkin Putman and Elizabeth Jane Pierce. He was born 1862. He married Mary Jane Thompson in Cherokee County Georgia November 2, 1885, and they were there in 1900. His wife Mary Jane Thompson is widowed here in 1920 and 1930.
JAMES H. (HOMER) PUTMAN Lathamville, DeKalb County
He is a son of Sanford Simeon Putman from Etowah County. He is 30 AL AL AL and a general farmer. His wife Daisy T. Southerlin is 24 AL AL GA, Grady H. and Grace B. twins 7 AL, and Nellie J. 2 AL. Daisy’s brother William 26 AL GA and his family live next door.
THOMAS F. (FOWLER) PUTMAN Moore, DeKalb County
He is 48 SC SC GA, Martha Jane Hardin 49 SC SC SC SC, William L. (Lee) 22 SC, Clyde M. (Monroe) 11 GA and Teddy, a grandson 2 GA. Teddy is a son of his daughter Carrie who married Theodore Eckford. He is a son of James Hamilton Putman and Susan Hancock. He was born in March 1862. He is a circuit rider (traveling minister) from Oconee County South Carolina. They were in Franklin County Georgia in 1900. He is back in Cherokee County South Carolina in 1920. He died in 1926 in Oconee County South Carolina. Martha was in Pickens County with her daughter Carrie in 1930. The son William Lee is married here in 1920 and will be killed in an accident here in 1928.
WILLIAM I. (IRA) PUTMAN Alabama City, Etowah County
He is a son of Reuben Ira and will still be here in 1920. He is 30 AL AL AL, Maggie Riley his wife is 24 AL. They have been married 6 years and have James H. 3 AL and Fred 1 AL. He is a machinist in a cotton mill.
ROSA PUTMAN Gadsden, Etowah County
She is 31 AL living with her widowed mother Celia Meadows 52 AL. This is a Black family.
WALTER D. (DEFORREST) PUTNAM Fayette County
He was here in 1900 and listed as William D. He is 41 IL, Mary Lee 41 AL, Minnie Lee 12, Paul D. 9, Alice 4 and Walter 1. They will still be here in 1920. He is a son of John Putnam and Eliza Sandow and was born in Jo Daviess County Illinois. His dad was from Berkshire County Massachusetts. The son Paul was born here October 18, 1900 and will die here in Fayette in February 1983.
JOHN PUTNAM Bridgeport, Jackson County
Here is a stranger. He is 25 WI WI AL and is a stove polisher in a stove factory. He has been married 1 year to Stella 17 TN AL TN and they have Naomi 1 TN. He first shows up in 1900 in Racine County Wisconsin working with a family, not his, so no ideas as to his folks. They were in Tennessee for the last several years at least. In 1920 and 1930 he is in Chattanooga Tennessee with a new wife Cordelia. It is a second marriage for both. Just no ideas at all as to his folks.
EDWARD R. PUTMAN Hambrick, Jackson County
He is a son of Jess and Amanda. He is 32 TN TN TN, Charlotte Kroger his wife of 15 years is 28 TN TN TN, Elvie 12 TN, Zella 10 TN, Flausie 7 TN, Dora 5 TN and Floyd 2 AL. They live next door or maybe with his folks. He was born in November 1877. His wife is Charlotte Kroger born November 1881. They were in Franklin County Tennessee in 1900, and will be in Madison County Alabama in 1920 and 1930. He died in 1952 and Charlotte was alive at the time.
JESSE PUTMAN Hambrick, Jackson County
Here's mom and dad. Jess is 55 TN TN TN, Amanda Posey 53 TN, Pool (Essie Virgil whose nickname was Poole) 21 TN and widowed, Rosa 15 TN and Claude 12 TN. Also there is Clara Putman the wife of his son Robert Lee Putman, Clara is the second wife age 17 AL and she has been married 2 years. Then there are kids from Robert’s first marriage with a gal named Orpha: Ozell is 11 TN, Herman 10 TN, Ernest 8 AL, Diane 6 TN, Rena 4 TN and Stella 1 AL who is from the current marriage with Clara. Jess is a son of Wilson Putman Jr. and Rebecca Flemming. He was born in March 1855. He married Amanda Maude Posey on October 11, 1874 in Madison County Alabama. Amanda was born December 28, 1857 in Alabama. Jessie will die here April 30, 1926 and Amanda is widowed here in 1930. She will die here January 5, 1934.
BETTIE PUTMAN Hollytree, Jackson County
She was a sister in law living with Mary Jane (Cochran) Putman, the widow of John Putman. Mary is not here, but her children are. They are listed as nieces and nephews. Bettie is 48 AL AL AL, Posey Copeland 21 AL born in February 1886, Richard Mack 17 born June 15, 1893 and (Martha) Jessie 19 AL born in May 1891. Also there is a cousin Phoebe Smith age 56 AL and widowed. Chuckles. Phoebe’s name was spelled Febbie. Also on these pages, farm workers were listed as Hard Hand. In the South hired was pronounced hard and the census guy wrote what he heard. Probably not too bright, or would that be ‘brat’?
LARK PUTMAN Sanders, Jackson County
He is 23 TN AL AL and his wife Victoria Lumpkin is 23 AL GA GA. They have been married 4 years. He is Lark Manuel Putman, son of Jesse Putman and Amanda Posey from Franklin County Tennessee and now here in Jackson County. He was born June 9, 1885. He is in the 1910 census of Jackson County. He married Victoria on October 6, 1905. They are in Hambrick, Jackson County in 1920 and 1930. He has a home farm.
EDDIE G. (GEORGE) PUTMAN Birmingham, Jefferson County
He is 55 AL (think NY) a commercial salesman. His wife Janie is 34 AL (SCOT) and they have George 3 AL. They have been married 5 years. They are in Sanford, Florida in 1920 and back here in 1930. He is George Edward Putnam the son of George and Elizabeth Putman from Niagara County Ontario. He was born in Niagara County New York October 7, 1857. They were there right across from NY in 1861. He will die in Birmingham November 23, 1934. He is part of the New York Dutch line.
FERDINAND F. PUTMAN Birmingham, Jefferson County
He is 43 TN VA TN, his wife Clara is 29 PA. They have been married 2 years but she was married to a Barnes guy from Ohio earlier and has William L. Barnes 9 AL and George A. Barnes 5 AL. Then they jointly have Elizabeth Putman 1 2/12 AL. Also here is Clara’s married sister Florence Fenn and also her widowed grandmother Emma Noss. Ferdinand is a treasurer at a Savings and Loan Bank. He is a son of John Covington Putman and Elizabeth Graham from Maury County Tennessee. He was born there in 1868. His brother John Graham Putman is in town as well. He and Clara are in York, Sumpter County Alabama in 1920. Then in 1930 they are in St. Petersburg, Florida.
HARRY B. (BARNES) PUTNAM Birmingham, Jefferson County
He is 23 VT VT VT single and boarding. He is a civil engineer with the railroad. He is a son of William Henry Harrison Putnam and Sarah Rebecca Pulsipher from Springfield, Windsor County Vermont. He was there in 1880 and 1900. His brothers Howard and William are also here in town.
HOWARD E. (EASTON) PUTNAM Birmingham, Jefferson County
He is 24 VT VT VT and a civil engineer. Pearl his wife is 22 AL. They live with her sister Mary and her husband John Brooks. He is a son of William Henry Harrison Putnam and Sarah Rebecca Pulsipher from Springfield, Windsor County Vermont. He was there in 1880 and 1900. They are here in 1920 and 1930 with some kids. Looks like three brothers all came down here together and got married here. William and Harry are in town.
JOHN G. (GRAHAM) PUTMAN Birmingham, Jefferson County
He is 50 TN AL VA, his wife Annette Godfrey is 45 IN FRA ENG. At home are Graham (John Graham Jr.) 23 AL, Ferdinand 21 AL, Virginia 14 AL and Godfrey 11 AL. He is an agent for the steam railroad. He is a son of John Covington Putman and Elizabeth Graham from Maury County Tennessee. John Senior was a son of John Putman and Lucy Covington from Rutherford County North Carolina who moved to Tennessee and then Morgan County Alabama. John and Annette are here through the 1930, and probably the rest of their life. His brother Ferdinand is in town now too.
JOSEPH O. (OSCAR) PUTMAN Birmingham, Jefferson County
He is 23 AL AL AL, his wife Birdie M. Cofer is 20 AL, and they have Hazel 7/12 AL. He works in a sawmill. He is a son of John W. Putman and Mary Jane Cochran from Princeton, Jackson County. He was born February 1, 1886. He had married Birdie Cofer on July 30, 1909. He will die on March 9, 1960.
WILLIAM E. (ELI) PUTNAM Birmingham, Jefferson County
He is 31 VT VT VT and is a civil engineer. His wife Edith Ellison is 31 VT and they have (William) Harrison 4 AL and Helen 2 AL. Her widowed mother Helen Ellison 53 NH is with them. He is a son of William Henry Harrison Putnam and Sarah Rebecca Pulsipher from Springfield, Windsor County Vermont. He was there in 1880 and 1900. He will remain here in Birmingham. They are in Bergen County New Jersey in 1920, and in 1930 he is back here and is a director of the city board of education.
DELIA PUTMAN Robbins, Jefferson County
She is 21 AL and a daughter of Malena and Martha Vandever. She is the widow of Adolphus Simes Putman who died in 1905. Her son Houston Paul Putman 5 AL is with her as well. Adolphus Simeon Putman was born on October 30, 1881. He married Delia Vandever on September 6, 1903. He was a policeman in Littleton, Alabama, and was killed while pursuing a criminal (whom he killed as well) on July 15, 1905. Delia remarried, but died herself of TB on February 26, 1913, and Paul moved in with his grandfather, Hiram Alexander Putman.
ULYSSIS PUTMAN Precinct 13, Jefferson County
Ulysses Sylvester Putman is a son of Andrew Jackson Putman and Rachel Clemintine Pierce from Blount County. He is 28 AL AL AL, Miriam Magourik his wife 24 AL and John Wesley 1 AL. He was born January 9, 1882. They are back in Blount County in 1920.
HIRAM ALEXANDER PUTMAN Robbins, Jefferson County

He was born January 3, 1852. He married Mary Elizabeth Hollis on March 29, 1877 in Jefferson County Alabama. Mary Elizabeth was born April 27, 1862. She was a daughter of Thomas Jefferson Hollis and Elizabeth Jane Black. He died in Jefferson County on October 13, 1936.
JOHN D. (DANIEL) PUTMAN Robbins, Jefferson County
He is a son of the above Hiram Alexander Putman. He is 30, Julia Tanner 28, Nellie 9, Travis 6 and Cullun 1. John was born November 24, 1879. His wife Julia Tanner was born September 14, 1881. Julia will die August 28, 1913. In 1920 he is still here but has a new wife Minnie Roberts born in 1886. He died June 22, 1965. Minnie died July 8, 1956.
W. O. (WILLIAM HOLLIS) PUTMAN Littleton, Jefferson County
Another of Hiram Alexander's kids and is a coal miner. He is 24 AL AL AL, Rosa Glover his wife 21 AL, Stella 3 AL and Velma 1 AL. He was born November 11, 1884. His wife is Rosa Parlee Glover. She is a daughter of Thomas Glover and Lucinda Campbell. They are in Jefferson County through the 1930 census. He died in Jefferson County September 5, 1932 and Rosa is widowed there in 1940 with some kids.
MARY PUTMAN Center Star, Lauderdale County
She is 71 AL and widowed. She is listed grandmother of Donald and Maggie Holden. She has been here forever. She is the widow of Francis Putman a son of Bazel and Louisa Putman. The daughter Maggie was at home here in 1880 listed as Mattie.Francis died in the mid 1870s and Mary will die here February 16, 1919.

Also their is Mary's mom, Sarah Michaels age 81 bless her heart. He is a son of Abel Putman and Nancy Cox. He was born October 18, 1862. I do not find him in 1900. He married Mary Martina Michaels August 14, 1884. He will die here May 26, 1919, and in 1920 Mary is shown as a widow with only two children still at home with her. Mary died October 2, 1920. The son Acie Franklin will soon marry Belle Howard here in October 1910.

He is now 49 AL, Mary Elizabeth Thornton his wife 53 AL, George Garvin 22 AL, Thomas P. 21 AL, and Jesse 12 AL. He is a son of Francis and Polly Putman and grandson of Bazel Putman. He was born here in June 1855. They are still in Lauderdale County in 1920. He is widowed by 1930 and living with his son Thomas.

She is the widow of William Henry Putman. She is 31, Lizzie 14, Emma 12, John 8 and Myrtle 6. Her mom, Fannie Tolefero age 60 is with her. William was a son of Francis and Polly Putman from here. He married Mattie Tolefero on December 17, 1893.

MILES R. (RICHARD) PUTMAN Green Hill, Lauderdale County
Abel's son is 59 AL and his second wife Anna is 43 TN. This is a second marriage for both. At home still are John 14 AL and Lola 12 AL. He is a son of Abel Putman and Nancy Cox and was born June 6, 1851. He married Susan Jane Sledge on January 10, 1873. She died April 1, 1904, and Miles married Anna Liles on January 9, 1906. In 1920 she is called Indiana. They aren’t around in the 1930 census.
ABEL F. (FRANKLIN) PUTMAN Lexington, Lauderdale County
Another son of Abel Putman and Nancy Cox. He is 37 AL, his wife Mace Campbell is 32 AL, and they have Collins 13 AL, Lessie 12 AL, Hartie a son 10 AL, Maudie 8 AL, Annie 4 AL and Mattie 11/12 AL. Franklin was born September 14 1873 and died in Lexington, Lauderdale County on October 2, 1954. He married Mace Ella Campbell in Lauderdale County on October 17, 1895. She was born February 23, 1877 and died October 4, 1929. Frank then married Georgia Lula Williams Swinea on April 27, 1932. They were divorced October 9, 1933. Frank later changed his name to Frank R. Putman.

He is 30 AL and his wife Annie Lash 25 AL. He is a son of James Isaac Putman. He was born in 1880. He married Annie Lash around 1909. He will die in 1911 or 1912. Annie will then marry his brother Lucian Putman about 1914. He had just lost his first wife, Myrtle.

He is 34 AL born November 23, 1876 in AL according to the WWI Draft, Dora Lee Green his wife is 31 AL, Mamie 6 AL, Laura A. 4 AL, Alean 1 AL. He is Miles Richard Putman and Susan Jane Sledge's son and was born November 23, 1876. He married Dora Lee Green in the early 1900s. They are in Lauderdale County through the 1930 census.
CHAMP F. PUTMAN Moulton, Lawrence County
He is 56 AL SC SC and now widowed. He is listed as father on top of page 39, but There are no connecting names on page 38. At any rate, there is a section on him in the Mississippi Section. Champion Farris Putman was the youngest child of the Reverend Martin Putman and Mahulda Parker. He was born September 18, 1852 in Marshall County Alabama. He married Louisiana (Lucy) Roberts on August 15, 1872. In 1880 they were in Marshall County Alabama and in 1900 they were in Webster County Mississippi. Lucy died in Webster County on February 20, 1907. Champ died in Hinds County (but was buried in Monte Vista, Webster County) Mississippi on January 4, 1927.

He was born in Russell County Alabama March 3, 1876 and will die here in Lee County October 16, 1928. Maude was born in Russell County October 17, 1877 and will die here November 3, 1929. They were married in Russell County January 6, 1901. They will be here in 1920.

Also there are two stepdaughters Vera Foster 16 AL and Mable Foster 11 AL. Lorene was previously married to a Foster guy and these kids are hers. He was first married to Nannie Porter who died in Russell County Alabama July 30, 1901. He married Lorene January 10, 1902.
IKE J. (JAMES ISAAC) PUTMAN Elkmont, Limestone County
He was in Lauderdale County in 1900 and is now 26 AL TN AL. His first wife, Mary E. Weems has died and he has remarried. His new wife Lilly Mae King is 21 TN, Eve A. 2 AL and Mattie B. 1 AL. He is a son of Zedoc and Nancy Putman. He was born, according to his tombstone, October 15, 1881 in Lauderdale County and died December 15, 1955 in Limestone County. According to his WWI registration, he is listed as being born on October 1, 1876. He married Mary Elizabeth Weems about 1900. She was born in June 1882 and died soon after they were married. They were living with her father in Lauderdale County for the 1900 census. He then married Lillie Mae King in about 1906. According to her tombstone, she was born March 13, 1887 and died December 24, 1956. I don’t find them yet in 1920, but they are in Athens in 1930 and Elkmont in 1940.
LUCIAN L. (LEON) PUTMAN Elkmont, Limestone County
He is a son of James Isaac Putman. He is 22 TN TN TN and Myrtle M. Cannup is 20 TN. They have been married 3 years. He was born March 3, 1889 and died June 29, 1961. He was married twice. His first wife was Myrtle M. Cannup (? Spelling). She died after having the first child, Bennie born August 10, 1910. His second wife was Annie Lash born August 10, 1887 and died February 9, 1967. Annie was the wife of his brother Ben. When Ben died and after Myrtle died, Lucian married Annie about 1914. In 1920, Lucian and Annie have four children.
FRANK PUTMAN Pettusville, Limestone County
He is 21 living alone. He is a son of Isaac and Belle Putman. He was born about 1889. He doesn't appear in 1900, but in 1910 is single and living in Limestone County living near Lucian Putman in Athens. He is single at the time. I do not find him in 1920. James Putman informs me that he was married twice. First to Rollie Hargroves, and then to Sis Carter. That's all I have now.
RICHARD P. PUTMAN Pettusville, Limestone County
He is now 55 TN, Palmira Pluten his wife is 53 TN and young Samuel 19 AL. He is a son of Sam and Mary Ann Call. He was born August 15, 1856 and died April 2, 1947. He married Palmira Pluten in Giles County Tennessee on December 24, 1887. She was born October 6, 1859 and died January 14, 1931. They live next to his brother Samuel.
SAMUEL PUTMAN Pettusville, Limestone County
He is now 40 TN, Annie Daly is 31 AL, Mattie 15 TN (b. June 19, 1894), Richard 12 TN (b. May 1, 1897), Elias 10 TN (b. August 25, 1899), Emma 9 AL, Ethel 7 AL, Earl 5 AL and George 1 AL (b. March 17, 1909). He is a son of Samuel Putman and Mary Ann Call. He was born in 1869. He married Annie Daly on December 25, 1892 in Limestone County. They are here through the 1920 census, and in Dyer County Tennessee in 1930.

He is William George Putman 48 AL. His wife Mary Lee Hill is 46 TN, Estel 19 TN, Emmet 17 TN, Olla 14 TN, Edward 13 AL, Gilbert 10 AL, Naomi 7 AL, Grover 5 AL, William 2 AL and Fannie 6 months AL. He is a son of Samuel Putman and Mary Ann Call. He was born, according to his tombstone, August 30, 1866 and died in Athens on November 11, 1929. He was killed in a dynamite explosion while working on a highway construction project. He married Mary Lee ‘Lizzie’ Hill in Limestone County on August 7, 1890. Lizzie was born in Tennessee in 1873. They will be in Madison County in 1920. Lizzie is widowed back here in Limestone County in 1930.
EMMETT PUTMAN Cluttsville, Madison County
He is the eldest son of Samuel Putman and Mary Ann Call, although I never found him in the 1900 census. He was in the 1880 census of Giles County Tennessee. However, good old Sam is here at age 77 listed as his father. Sam will die here September 6, 1914. Emmett is 56 TN, Mary 59 AL, Andrew 30 AL, James 28 AL, Henry 24 AL, George 21 AL, Sallie 19 AL. Then there are three grandchildren: Boss (Boaz) `17 TN, Melvin 7 TN, Marie 5 TN. The three kids belong to his son Andrew. His mom is here in town, but staying with his sister Nancy Ervin. In 1920 Emmett is widowed and living with his son Jack (John) in Madison County. Jack is presently in Texas. Emmett is with his married daughter Sallie in Limestone County in 1930 at age 84.
MARY PUTMAN Cluttsville, Madison County
She is 76 AL and living as a mother in law of G. John (52 TN) and Nancy (45 AL TN TN) She is Mary Ann Call, the wife of Samuel Putman. Nancy is their daughter born in 1865. She married John about 1884-1885. Mary Ann died May 6, 1913 in Madison County. She and Samuel are buried here in the Pettusville Cemetery.

She is 43 TN and widowed. She is Ida Mae Reynolds, widow of George Lee Putman and is living alone. George was in Young County Texas in 1880. He then seems to have moved back to Alabama and married Mary Susan McLemore of Lincoln County Tennessee on May 25, 1892. She was born October 4, 1861. Mary died in the childbirth October 31, 1898. George then married Ida Mae Reynolds in Toney, Madison County Alabama on November 9, 1899. Ida Mae was born November 9, 1866. George Lee Putman died in Huntsville, Madison County Alabama on February 6, 1906. Ida Mae will marry Daniel George and die in Thatch, Limestone County Alabama on December 25, 1947.

He was born February 4, 1856 and married Mary Hagen December 20, 1876, and they were in St. Clair County in 1880. She died here in the 1920s, and he died December 12, 1933 in Marshall County.

He was born August 29, 1862 and married Minnie Brown January 12, 1892 in Etowah County. He died March 5, 1947 in Etowah County Alabama. Minnie died there on February 20, 1947. They were in Jefferson County Alabama in 1900. They are here in 1920 and in Etowah County in 1930.

He is 30 NY NY NY and married 1 year. He is superintendent of the Boys Club. He is listed with the club so his wife Nina isn’t shown. Louis is a son of John H. Putnam and Ellen Jane Luther from Albion, Orleans County New York. He was home there at age 7 months in 1880. He was in Atlanta Georgia in 1900 at age 20 living with his uncle and aunt Daniel & Sadie Luther from New York. He was secretary for the Atlanta Y.M.C.A. at the time. They are in Charleston, West Virginia in 1920 and Richmond, Staten Island, New York City in 1930 and 1940.

He is William Cullen Bryan Putman. He has moved over from Douglas County Georgia. He is a son of John William and Elizabeth Tankersley Putman who are here in town. He is 29 GA AL GA, Annie Mae 21 GA and no children. He works in a sawmill. He was born March 29, 1881. He was single in Douglas County Georgia in 1900 and I don't find him in 1920. Annie was born September 3, 1888 and died September 5, 1945. William died June 8, 1960.

Joel's son is now 47 AL AL AL, and Elizabeth Tankersley has died. He was just married in 1910 to Willie Davis 36. Most of the kids are still at home. Annie 25 AL, Lewis 23 AL, Myrtle 17 AL, Ella M. 14 AL. Also there is Annie's daughter Dora 10 AL. He is a son of Joel Allen Putman and his first wife Narcissa Coker. He was born in September 1862. He married Elizabeth Ann Tankersley, born July 30, 1858, in Georgia and died May 12, 1906. She was a daughter of Andrew and Martha Tankersley. He then married Willie E. Davis (widow of a Thelman guy) in 1909. Willie was born October 4, 1874 and died June 4, 1946. John died November 3, 1933 in St. Clair County.

He is 19 born July 8, 1891. He is a son of John William Putman and Elizabeth Tankersley from St. Clair County grandson of Joel Putman. He was born July 8, 1891 and died November 5, 1920 of tuberculosis. He will be back home in 1920 in St. Clair County.
LUCIOUS PUTMAN Koeppell, Tuscaloosa County
He is 23 AL AL AL single and boarding. His brother John is here. Both are log haulers. He is a son of John William Putman and Elizabeth Tankersley from St. Clair County grandson of Joel Putman. He was born February 22, 1888 and died October 15, 1966. He married Icie Bell, born April 7, 1891 and died September 1, 1953. He was executor of his father's estate. He finally settled it some 40 years later when his other brothers and sisters sued him to do so.
DAVID LAWRENCE PUTMAN Cordova, Walker County
He is Hiram Alexander Putman and Mary Elizabeth Hollis's son. He is 22 AL AL AL, Pearlie May Stacks is 20 AL, Marie E. 3 AL and Busie (Claudine in 1920) 8 months old. He is a coal miner. He was born April 26, 1888. He married Pearlie May Eveline Stacks on June 22, 1905. They will be here in 1920. He was killed in the mine disaster of August 10, 1927. Pearl and the kids are there in 1930.

He is a son of Hiram Alexander Putman and has moved from Jefferson County. He is now 29 AL AL AL, Victoria Robbins his wife 28 AL, Lawton 7 AL and Lester 5 AL. They will be back in Birmingham, Jefferson County in 1920 and 1930. He was born April 19, 1878. He is in back in Birmingham, Jefferson County in 1920 and 1930. His wife was Martha Victoria Robbins. He died December 23, 1949.
ARTHUR B. PUTMAN Lynn, Winston County
He is 25 SC, Susie Ramsey 23 GA, Annie 4 GA and Wendell 3 AL. Also there is his brother Frank (John Franklin) 19 SC. He is Arthur Belton Putman a son of John Wade Putman of Spartanburg, SC and grandson of Arthur McLain Putman from North Carolina. He was born October 1, 1884.
JOSEPH T. (TAYLOR) PUTMAN Ashridge, Winston County
He is now 63 and Margaret Pruitt is 64. The kids are all gone. He is Forester's son. He was born December 19, 1844. He married Margaret Jane Pruitt in Benton/Calhoun County Alabama on December 20, 1866. She was born August 27, 1844 in Benton County. He and Margaret are in Calhoun County in the 1870 census and in Etowah County Alabama in 1880. In 1900 on they are in Winston County. Joe died there April 10, 1917. I don't know when Margaret died, but both were missing in 1920. There was a Margaret Putman the right age (78) in Erath County Texas in the 1920 census. This may well be her. Perhaps a daughter had headed out that way.

(Lander) 7 AL and Vernon J. (James) 3 AL. He is a son of John Wesley Putman and Millie Holly Putman. He was born October 18, 1870, and will die January 5, 1944. Lottie will die November 24, 1925, and he will marry a widow Ida (married name Harmon) and be in Marshall County by 1930. They kids were all deserted and are here in 1930.
JAMES E. PUTMAN Gum Springs, Blount County
John C.'s son is still around, now 68 AL SC SC, His wife Eliza Rutherford is 59, AL TN AL, Rufus 24 AL and Marie 16 AL. They are also listed in Birmingham. He is a son of John Calhoun and Nancy Putman, and was born in Alabama in 1850. He married Eliza Alice Rutherford here on November 8, 1877. They will remain in Blount County through 1920 when he is 68 and Eliza 59. Eliza is widowed here in 1930 with her son James Rufus and his new wife Eva. By the way James is also listed boarding in Oneonta working for the railroad.

Reuben Ira's son is a farmer and is now 38 AL GA GA, Bessie Moore his wife 30 AL, Cecil E. 11 AL, Oltra O. a daughter 6 AL, Basil V. 3 AL and Gordon R. (Roy) 1 AL. Mary Lou Kelley, his mother age 76 GA is still with him. Bessie’s brother William Moore 29 AL lives on the next farm. His dad, Reuben Ira Putman, died here September 7, 1908. Mary Lou will die February 16, 1921. James was born July 24, 1881, and died July 21, 1959. His wife is Bessie Moore was born in September 1889 and died July 16, 1979. They are here through the 1930 and will be till they die.
JOHN W. (WESLEY) PUTMAN Gum Springs, Blount County
He is listed as 70 AL SC SC, his wife Milda (Millie Holley) is 65 AL and Lee Ella 34 AL is still single and at home. John Wesley is a son of John Calhoun Putman. John was born in January 1848 in Alabama. He married Milly Angeline Holly January 19, 1871. They here through 1920 he was listed as 70 and she at 65. He will die next year on October 15, 1921. Not sure when Millie died, but it was before 1930.
PERCY L. (LEE) PUTMAN Gum Springs, Blount County
He is 27 AL AL AL, Mary E. 25 AL, Carter E. 6 AL, James D. 4 AL, Wyatt 2 AL and Edith C. 2 AL. He is a son of James Putman and Eliza Rutherford, and was born here May 10, 1892, and will die here in May 1979. In 1930 they are a few miles away in Cullman County where he will be renting some farmland.
BENJAMIN PUTMAN Hardwick, Blount County
He is 34 AL AL AL, Margaret his wife is 25 AL and they have 2 sons Coy 3 6/12 AL and Roy 1 11/12 AL. He is a son of Andrew and Rachel Putman and was born January 19, 1884. He married Josephine Margaret Magourick in 1908, and was here in 1910. The age is off here for Margaret and she may be a second wife. Josie is back with her folks now and in 1930, guess it didn’t work out too well. She says both times she was widowed but it was more like a divorce.
JAMES (JOSHUA) PUTMAN Hardwick, Blount County
He is Andrew Putman's son. He is 42 AL AL AL a farmer, and his brother COLUMBUS 24 AL is with him as is his mother Rachel Clementine Pierce age 62 GA. He and his mom and brother are still here in 1930. Jim was born February 12, 1878. Columbus was born August 12, 1894. He died in July 1973 in Oneonta, Blount County. I don’t think either one ever married.
JOHN THOMAS PUTMAN Hardwick, Blount County
Another of Andrew's young ens. He is now 38 AL AL AL, and now widowed. Children are Chloe 17 AL, Everett 15 AL, Alton 13 AL, Jewell 11 AL, Ovell (Ovell Jessie) a daughter 8 AL, Revis (Andrew Revis) 5 AL and Houston 4 AL. He was born March 17, 1880 on Saint Patty's day. He is still home in 1900. He married Lucille Gulledge in about 1902 in Blount County. His wife Lucille Gulledge died November 7, 1917 in childbirth. In fact there is another Gulledge family (John and Martha), probably her brother, living next door. John will remarry a woman named Mary and have three more children by 1930. He died in May 1979 (social security index).
ULYSSES (SYLVESTER) PUTMAN Hardwick, Blount County
He is 37 AL, Miriam Magourik 34 AL, John W. 11 AL, Leanna 9 AL, Sylvester 8 AL, Clarence 5 AL and Hershel 1 2/12 AL. He is another of Andrew and Rachel’s sons, born here January 9, 1882. They are in Oneonta Blount County in 1930.
CLIFTON P. (PIERCE) PUTMAN Oneonta, Blount County
He is a son of Andrew and Rachel Clementine Putman, and was born September 14, 1895. He is 24 AL AL and his wife Zola M. is 17 AL. He works in an iron ore mine. In 1930 he is working in an iron ore mine in East Pleasant, Jefferson County. He died in Bessemer Alabama in May 1979.
JOSIE PUTMAN Oneonta, Blount County
She is 34 and living with her parents William W. and Rachel M. Brown. I think she was the gal married to Benjamin Miller Putman here in 1910. Maybe they have gotten a divorce as he is still in Hardwick with another seemingly new wife Margaret and some kids now. Josie says she is widowed, but too embarrassed to say divorced. She is still at home here in 1930 and still says she is widowed.
J. (JAMES) RUFUS PUTMAN Oneonta, Blount County
He is 24 AL and boarding. He is a son of James E. Putman and Eliza Rutherford. He is also listed at home with them in Gum Springs. He is a painter for the Railroad. He will marry a gal named Eva and be back in Gum Springs by 1930, and have his mother with him then too.
SAMUEL PUTMAN Alexandria, Calhoun County
He is 33 AL, Cora 27 GA. His mother Texanna Putman 71 AL is with them. He is a son of John Putman and Sarah Texanna McArry from here. Up till now he has always been listed as Claudius or Claude. Sam’s his middle name. They are here in 1930 and will finally have a couple of kids.
MONROE W. PUTMAN Anniston, Calhoun County
He is now 48 AL AL AL, Bettie E. 49 AL, Bluford (Bluford Monroe) 25 AL, Minnie M. 23 AL, J. Wright 14 AL and Christine 6 AL. He goes by the name Manse. He is a son of James Hiram and Elizabeth Putman and was born in May 1873 in Cherokee County. He was here in 1900 and in Cleburne County in 1910. I don’t find them in 1930, but their son James is in Birmingham then. Bluford the son was born March 1, 1894. He married Maggie Henson, daughter of James Henson and Minnie Martin. They must have gotten a divorce as Minnie is now back with her folks in Cleburne County. She has their son Leonard 4 AL with her. She will then marry William Talley (second marriage for both) and they were in Birmingham in 1930 along with Leonard.
R. PUTMAN Anniston, Calhoun County
He is 53 AL AL AL married and a lodger. He is a stone grinder at a marble yard. There are several Patman families here in Anniston, he must be one as he doesn’t fit any Putman.
FANNIE PUTMAN AYERS Jacksonville, Calhoun County
She is Fannie Stephenson 30 AL the widow of William Silas Putman who died here November 1, 1916. William was a son of Silas Cass Putman and Nancy Meadows, and was born in Cherokee County in July 1880. She has married Charles Ayers 27 NJ and has two of her children with her: William Roosevelt Putman 15 AL AL AL and Burney Lewis Putman 10 AL AL AL. She and Charles work in a cotton Mill as carders. Charles will take off and desert the family in a few years, and about 1929 Fannie and the kids will move up to Chattanooga, Tennessee and be there in 1930. Her son Robert is boarding nearby.
ROBERT DEWEY PUTMAN Jacksonville, Calhoun County
He is 18 AL AL AL single and boarding. He is a son of William Silas Putman and Elizabeth Williams. He was born August 29, 1901. He was home in 1910. His dad died in 1916 and his mom has remarried Charles Ayers. They are here in town now too. I don’t find him in 1930, but in 1940 he is in Huntsville, Madison County married with a son Walter born in Tennessee in 1926.

She is Silas Cass's daughter age 19 AL AL AL single and boarding. She is a spooler at a cotton mill.
(MONROE) ANDERSON PUTMAN Borden Springs, Cleburne County
He is a son of Isaac Thomas. He is 27 AL, Minnie Rowell his wife is 25 GA, Monroe 3 AL and Evelyn 1 AL. He will be across the border in Atlanta in 1930 with a bunch more kids.
GEORGE ELZA PUTMAN Borden Springs, Cleburne County
Thomas Monroe's son now 58, Mary Ann Cooley is 60, Millie V. 25 and Maud 14. Then we have a bunch of kinfolk living here. George's daughter, Sarah Willie had married a cousin John Campbell Putman (son of Isaac Thomas Putman). John died on February 5, 1919. Sarah isn't at home and is probably arranging a funeral. But their children are all here. They are Edna 8, Jennie V. 6, John C. Junior 4 and George Elza 1 year. Sarah will be around until April 6, 1962. Then George is a son of Thomas Monroe and Martha Putman from Cherokee County in 1880 and here since. He was born February 4, 1861. He is here in Cleburne County through 1930. He married Mary Ann Cooley about 1883. She was born June 9, 1859 and died August 9, 1933. George died October 28, 1933.
ISAAC THOMAS PUTMAN Borden Springs, Cleburne County
He is 63, Mary Susan Wheeler is 54, Byron Eugene 22, Thomas Newton 19, Anna Frances 15. Also here is Sallie Powers listed at age 62. She was a 'friend' who lived with them. Isaac is a son of Thomas Monroe Putman and Martha Jane Thomas. He was born August 11, 1856 and died in Fulton County Georgia in April 1925. His wife is Mary Susan Wheeler, born March 26, 1865 and died October 7, 1928 also in Fulton County. He and his son Monroe Anderson will soon head to Atlanta. The sons Byron and Thomas will be over in Calhoun County in 1930.
NELLIE & JESSIE PUTMAN Borden Springs, Cleburne County
These gals, Nellie 18 and Jessie 16 are living with Minnie Henson 42 and wife of James Henson 47. These two girls are part of Silas Cass Putman's family. Then there is Leonard Putman age 4 listed as a grandson. Leonard was a grandson of Minnie Martin Henson, her daughter Maggie Henson married Bluford Putman. Maggie will soon marry William Talley and they will be in Birmingham with Leonard in 1930.

He is a son of James H. Putman from Morgan County. He is 30 AL and Rose Lee 29 AL.
JOHN C. (CALHOUN) PUTMAN Cullman, Cullman County
He is a son of Reuben Ira Putman and Mary Lou Kelley from Blount County. He was born there in April 1876. They were here in 1910. He is 45 AL AL AL, Susan Leanna Gill 39 AL, Inez H. 17 AL, Willie Mae 14 AL, Luina M. 12 AL, Reuben (Should be Kyle Lane born April 27, 1911) 8 AL and Eilene 3 AL. John is in Birmingham in 1930 with his two youngest kids, but she’s not. He says he is married though.
ODIAN WILSON PUTMAN Selma, Dallas County
He is a son of David Lumpkin Putman Junior who was here in 1910. He is listed as Odie and is 29 and May E. is 26.
MARTHA PUTMAN Selma, Dallas County
She appears to be the widow of David Lumpkin Junior, though I had her as Mary in 1910. She is 49 and Charlie D. is 21. Charlie is most definitely David's son. She is indeed here widowed in 1930 and named Mary. Her full name is Mary Jane Thompson. David was a son of David Lumpkin Putman and Elizabeth Jane Pierce. He was born 1862. He married Mary Jane Thompson in Cherokee County Georgia November 2, 1885, and they were here in 1910.
(WILLIAM) LEE PUTMAN Moores, De Kalb County
He is 32 GA (actually SC SC SC), Dessie (Odessa Martha Holbrook) his wife is 30 AL, Edith 7 AL, Clara 5 SC, Olene (?) 2 SC. He is William Lee Putman, a son of Thomas Fowler Putman and Martha Jane Harden of South Carolina and Georgia. He was born in Habersham County Georgia in 1886. The whole family was here in 1910. He died in 1928 in a train/car accident in Fort Payne, De Kalb County Alabama. By 1930 Dessie is widowed here with the kids.
WILLIAM PUTMAN Alabama City, Etowah County
He is 40 AL AL AL and operates a grocery store. His wife Maggie Riley is 35 TN TN TN, James 11 AL, Fred 11 AL, and Isabel 7 AL. William Ira is Reuben Ira Putman and Mary Lou Kelley’s son and has been around since 1900. He was born March 14, 1879. He married Margaret Riley here in Etowah County on September 6, 1903. They are here in 1930 on their farm. He will die here in August 1963.
BESSIE PUTMAN Attalla, Etowah County
She is 22 AL TN AL and widowed. She is listed as a daughter of William and Sallie. Her son Carl E. 1 month old AL GA AL is here as well. She is Bessie Williams, widow of Carl E. Putman. Carl was a son of James Erwin Putman of Georgia and a grandson of J. Hamilton Putman of South Carolina. Carl was born in Franklin County Georgia August 22, 1885 and died in Etowah County Alabama May 24, 1919. She will marry a Dewberry guy and then be widowed in Birmingham in 1940. Young Carl will be with her then too.
BERTHA PUTMAN East Gadsden, Etowah County
She is a boarder with William Johns. No age is given, but is probably Sanford Putman’s daughter and is also shown at home with them in Marshall County. Family is from here in Etowah County. She is single and a public school teacher.
ROBERT B. (ROY BRAXTON) PUTMAN Gadsden, Etowah County
He is 31 AL AL AL and a time keeper in a steel mill. His wife Jessie M. Ford is 26 AL, and Mary M. 1 3/12AL. He is a son of James Van Putman and his first wife Mary Elizabeth Duke. His folks were divorced in the 1890s. He was with his mother and her folks in Duke, Calhoun County in 1900 and 1910 listed as Leroy. They are all here, including his mother Mary Elizabeth in 1930.
WILLIAM H. (HENRY) PUTMAN Gadsden, Etowah County
He is 25 AL single and boarding with a Maxwell Family. He is William Henry Putman, son of Sanford Putman and Mary Hagen from here. He was born here March 13, 1894. He will marry Lecta Cameron in a few months in early 1921. They are here in Gadsden in 1930. He will die in Boaz Alabama in January 1977. He operates a nail mill here at a steel plant.

He is 28 AL AL GA single and boarding with John Weems. He is a teamster for a spinning mill. There were several Putmans living with John Weems in Lauderdale County back in 1900. He looks like the son of James Isaac Putman and Louise Belle from Lauderdale County. He was home in 1900 listed as Lucian L. age 9 AL.
LOUIS PUTMAN Whortons Bend, Etowah County
He is 32 AL AL AL and operates a farm. His wife, his second, Nena Horton is also 32 AL and they have Lillie May 8 AL, Ella Lou 7 AL, Myrtie 6 AL and Agnes 4 AL. He is a son of John William Putman and Elizabeth Ann Tankersley from St. Clair County. He was born February 22, 1888, and died June 24, 1931. He married Winnie Horton, born March 14, 1887 and died June 20, 1911. He then married her twin sister Nena W. Horton in 1912. She was born March 14, 1887 and died December 24, 1963. They are back in Ashville, St. Clair County in 1930.
WALTER D. (DEFORREST) PUTMAN Fayette, Fayette County
He has been here since 1900, and is now 50 IL MA ENG, Mary Lee is 50 AL IL AL, Paul H. 19 AL, Walter D. Junior 11 AL and Alice 13 AL. The other daughter Minnie is off and married. The sons Paul and Walter will be in Gulfport, Mississippi in 1930. He is a son of John Putnam and Eliza Sandow and was born in Jo Daviess County Illinois. His dad was from Berkshire County Massachusetts. He operates a motion picture house, movie theater to you youngsters. He is widowed it looks like in Mobile in 1930.
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN PUTMAN Paint Rock, Jackson County
He is a son of William Putman and Elizabeth Myers (Morris' grandson) 44 AL AL AL and runs a general store. His wife Laura Belle Edwards is 46 AL GA GA, Elna 20 AL, William Edward 17 AL, Ralph 14 AL, Robert P. 10 AL, Doris C. 5 AL. He was born March 6, 1875. He married Laura Belle Edwards in Jackson County on December 31, 1898. For some reason, I can't find them in 1910. They are in Huntsville, Madison County in 1930 and he will die there in 1932.
FOREST W. (WARREN) PUTMAN Collins, Jackson County
He is a son of Jesse and Amanda Posey. He was in Franklin County Tennessee in 1900 and 1910 and will go back there soon and stay for the rest of their lives. He is 37 TN TN TN, Jennie (Nancy Jane Gifford) 34 TN, Ellis 19 TN, Virgil 17 TN, Willie 15 TN, Flora 11 TN, Anna 9 TN, Mamie 6 AL, Ruby 4 TN and Jenette 2 TN. He was born December 2, 1882 in Franklin County Tennessee. He married Nancy Jane Gifford in Winchester, Franklin County on December 14, 1899. They had 10 children. Forrest died in Huntland, Franklin County on June 17, 1956. Nancy died there on January 27, 1943.
LARK MANUEL PUTMAN Hambrick, Jackson County
He is 36 TN, Victoria Lumpkin his wife is 26 AL, Malbert a son is 2 AL. Also there is a nephew Walter Putman 6 AL. He is a son of Jesse Putman and Amanda Posey. He was born just over the line in Franklin County Tennessee. He was born June 9, 1885. He is in the 1910 census of Jackson County. He married Victoria on October 6, 1905. They were here in 1910 and will be in 1930.
ESSIE PUTMAN Hambrick, Jackson County
He lives next door to his brother Lark. Essie Virgil Putman is 31 TN TN TN, Mattie Penny his wife is 21 AL, Lucille 5 AL, a son Loren H. 2 AL and Jane (Zora) 1 AL. He is a son of Jesse Putman and Amanda Posey. He was born January 22, 1888. He was called ‘Poole.’ He married Martha 'Mattie' Penny in Franklin County Tennessee on December 6, 1912. He died here on October 13, 1969. He was a good friend of then Governor George Wallace and that family.
HORACE C. (CLAUDE) PUTMAN Hambrick, Jackson County
He is 21 TN TN TN, Myrtle Roden 22 TN, William Frank 2 AL and Anne Beatrice 1 AL. He is a son of Robert Lee Putman, who is another son of Jesse and Amanda. He was born in March 1900. He married Myrtle November 29, 1916. Don’t have a last name though.
JESSIE R. PUTMAN Hambrick, Jackson County
He is 64 TN TN TN and owns his farm. His wife Amanda Posey is 63 TN and they have a granddaughter Rena V. 14 TN with them. Rena is a daughter of their son Robert Lee Putman. Jess is a son of Wilson Putman Jr. and Rebecca Flemming. He was born in March 1855. He married Amanda Maude Posey on October 11, 1874 in Madison County Alabama. Amanda was born December 28, 1857 in Alabama. Jessie will die here April 30, 1926 and Amanda is widowed here in 1930. She will die here January 5, 1934.
POSEY PUTMAN Hollytree, Jackson County
Posey Copeland is a son of John Putman and Mary Jane Cochran. He is 30 AL AL AL, Effie Cardin his wife is 28 AL AL AL and they have a daughter Maureen 5 AL. He was born August 4, 1889 and married Effie here on February 9, 1913. They are in Bogalusa, Louisiana in 1930.
RICHARD MC (MACK) PUTMAN Hollytree, Jackson County
Another son of John Putman and Mary Jane Cochran. He is 25 AL AL AL, Delpha Wilburn 22 AL AL AL, Vivian 4 AL. His Aunt Bettie, now 57 AL, and a widowed cousin Phoebe Smith 66 AL who were with him in 1910 are still here. He was born here June 15, 1893. He and the family will head up to Chicago in 1929 and be there in 1930. He’ll be working in an automobile factory then. They are back here in Hollytree by 1935 and also in 1940.

The last of John and Mary Jane's sons is 36 AL AL AL, Mamie Capps 39 AL, Oscar E. 12 AL, Charles W. 10 AL and Jessie B. a son 6 AL. They were in Tennessee in 1910. William was born June 12, 1884. He married Mamie here June 5, 1906. They are in Crow, Jackson County with one more son in 1930.
ALEX PUTMAN Woodville, Jackson County
Harvey Alexander is a son of John Putman and Mary Jane Cochran. He is 33 AL, his wife Mary Hope Simmons is 19 AL and John J. 2 AL. He was born July 27, 1887. He married Mary Hope Simmons in Hollytree, Jackson County on July 2, 1916. He died February 3, 1928. Hope was born December 31, 1900 and died July 13, 1983. Hope is widowed with young John here in 1930.

He is a son of George Elza Putman. He is 21, his brother Robert is 18 and his sister Maude is 15. Dad is still in Cleburne County and both Robert and Maude are listed there as well. They may be at school here.

They have a daughter Elizabeth 1 2/12 AL. Also here is Clara’s mother Emma Ross 75 KY. He is a son of John Covington Putman and Elizabeth Graham of Warren County Tennessee, and was shown at home with them in 1880 in Maury County Tennessee. John was a son of John Putman and Lucy Covington of Morgan County Alabama. Ferdinand was single in New London Connecticut in 1900. He and Clara are in York Alabama in 1920 and in St. Petersburg Florida in 1930.

He is still a civil engineer 36 VT VT VT and his wife Pearl is 32 AL AL AL. They have Dorothy D. 8 AL and Howard W. 5 AL. He is a son of William Henry Harrison Putnam and Sarah Rebecca Pulsipher from Springfield, Windsor County Vermont. He was there in 1880 and 1900. He was married to Pearl here in 1910 and they are here in 1930.

His Uncle John Godfrey 50 IN is with them as well. John and Helen were married December 24, 1912 in Sumter County Alabama. They live in Birmingham now and in 1930 and 1940 will be in Homewood, Jefferson County.

He is 24 AL, Minnie Carroll his wife is 23 AL and Arthur 1. He is a son of Hiram Alexander Putman. His full name is Arthur Hiram Putman born November 7, 1895. They are nearby in Tarrant in 1930.

Hiram Alexander is now 67 AL, Mary E. Hollis is 57 AL. Also there is a Grandson, Paul 15 AL. Houston Paul is a son of Adolphus & Delia. He was was born January 3, 1852. He married Mary Elizabeth Hollis on March 29, 1877 in Jefferson County Alabama. Mary Elizabeth was born April 27, 1862. She was a daughter of Thomas Jefferson Hollis and Elizabeth Jane Black. He died in Jefferson County on October 13, 1936.

He is Hiram Alexander's son, John Daniel Putman 40 AL AL AL, his new wife Minnie Roberts is 33 AL, Thomas T. 15 AL, Cullun H. 10 AL, Daniel B. 4 AL, John B. 3 AL and Orvil 1 AL. His daughter Nell has married and moved on. He was born November 24, 1879. In 1910 he is in Jefferson County with his wife Julia Tanner, born September 14, 1881. Julia died August 28, 1913. William Ollio is another of Hiram's boys. He is 34 AL AL AL, Rosa Glover his wife 32 AL, Stella T. 12 AL, Velma A. 10 AL, Jessie L. a daughter 8 AL, Eva May 4 AL and Reuben L. 1 AL. He was born November 11, 1884. His wife was Rosa Parlee Glover. She was a daughter of Thomas Glover and Lucinda Campbell. They were in Jefferson County through 1930. He died in Jefferson County September 5, 1932.
LUTHER PUTMAN Precinct 44 (Huffman), Jefferson County
He is 28 GA AL GA, Minnie West is 30 AL and Lucy 2. They are living with her folks. They will get divorced around 1927. Minnie and two daughters are still here in 1930 and Luther is in Birmingham all by himself. He was shown in 1900 with his folks James and Mary Elizabeth Patman in Blount County. That was the only time he appeared before this. The family was listed as PATMAN in 1880 and 1900, and I assume Luther is a Patman too.
MONROE ELLIS PUTMAN Precinct 44, Jefferson County
He is George Washington Putman and Mary Ellis’ son from Blount County. They were in St. Clair County in 1910. Anyway, he is 38, Georgia Ann Burroughs his wife is 32, Buster 13, Araminta 10 and Virginia 8. They are here in 1930 and will be here till he dies 1969, Georgia till 1968.

He is 30 AL, Mary Rose White his wife is 30 AL and they have Verny M. 8 AL. He is a son of Jacob Wylie Putman and Mary Michaels from here. He was born June 13, 1889. Mary will die in the 1920s. By 1930 he has a new wife Vergie Lee Brown. They were married in 1928, and they have a brand new daughter.

He is 33 AL, Lutie Mae Davis his wife 27AL, Estes 7 AL and Clayton 5 AL. They are here in 1930 and Clayton is married then at age only 14. He is a son of George Washington Putman and Mary E. Thornton. He was born January 21, 1886.

He is 61 AL and his wife Mary Thornton is 64 AL. His son's George Garvin and Thomas P. live next door. He is a son of Francis and Polly Putman and grandson of Bazel Putman. He was born in June 1855. They are still in Lauderdale County in 1910 and 1920. He is widowed by 1930 and living with his son Thomas.

He is Miles and Susan Jane Putman' eldest. He was born February 15, 1874, and married Mary Elizabeth Mathews here on March 17, 1897. They will have all moved over to Lexington by 1930.

Wiley's son is now married. He is 31 AL, Belle Howard 28 AL, Gertie 8 AL, Ora 7 AL, Spencer 5 AL, Verta 3 AL and Nellie 1 AL. They were married in October 1910 and are here in 1930 with three more kids. He is a son of Jacob Wylie Putman and Mary Michaels from here. He was born here February 28, 1887 and will die here in February 1967.

He is 23 AL, Etta M. 23 AL and they have Adolphus E. 8 months old. He is James Collins Putman, son of Franklin Abel. In the WWI draft, he listed his wife as Etta. They are here in 1930.

He is now 46 AL, Mace Ella Campbell 42 AL, Hartie 19 AL, Maudie 17 AL, Annie 13 AL, Martha 10 AL, Movalean (?) 8 AL, Grover Cleveland 6 AL, Marie Reeda 3 AL and James Arnold 1 AL. He is widowed here in 1930. He was born September 14 1873 and will die in Lexington, Lauderdale County on October 2, 1954. He married Mace Ella Campbell in Lauderdale County on October 17, 1895. She just died October 4, 1929. Frank will marry Georgia Lula Williams Swinea on April 27, 1932. They were divorced October 9, 1933. Frank later changed his name to Frank R. Putman.

He is 49 AL as is his wife Elizabeth Lanier. Children are Clarence E. 25 AL, Gracie A. 18 AL and Lela A. 11 AL. They are here in 1930. He is a son of Abel Putman and Nancy Cox and was born here. He’ll be here till he dies in 1955. Lizzie will die here in 1935.

He is 25 AL, Cora M. (Marsha) 22 AL and Leroy S. 2 AL. He is Miles Richard Putman and Susan Jane Sledge's son and was born September 30, 1894. He and Cora are here in 1930.
MARY M. PUTMAN Lexington, Lauderdale County
She is Mary Michaels, widow now of Jacob Wylie Putman. She is 56 AL, Tollie 17 AL and John D. 14 AL. Wylie was a son of Abel Putman and Nancy Cox. He was born October 18, 1862. He married Mary Martina Michaels August 14, 1884. He died here May 26, 1919, and Mary will die here October 2, 1920. Tollie will be married by 1930.
MILES R. (RICHARD) PUTMAN Lexington, Lauderdale County
He is now 67 AL, Indiana Liles 53 AL and the kids are all off. A little peace and quiet now. He is a son of Abel Putman and Nancy Cox and was born June 6, 1851. He married Susan Jane Sledge on January 10, 1873. She died April 1, 1904, and Miles married Anna Liles on January 9, 1906. They were here in 1910, and are not around in 1930.

He is Miles Richard Putman and Susan Jane Sledge's son and was born November 23, 1876. He married Dora Lee Green in the early 1900s. They are in Lauderdale County through the 1930 census.
JOE PUTMAN Oakville, Lauderdale County
He is Joseph Franklin Putman 34 AL, Daisy Benefield is 33 AL, Lilly Mae 16 AL, Lucy 9 AL, Travis 8 AL, Robert 6 AL, Edgar 4 6/12 AL, Curtis 2 5/12 AL. He is a son of Champion Farris Putman. He went to Mississippi and when his first wife Mary Jones died there in 1907, he returned to Alabama and was here in the 1910. Daisy will die here in 1921. I don’t find him in 1930, but Travis is single in Lawrence County then. Curtis was born March 11, 1917 and will die in Gadsden Alabama in November 1983. I don’t find him in 1930 either, but he will marry Viva Jane Slaton in Marshall County in 1936.
CLYDE H. (HUEL) PUTMAN Phoenix, Lee County
He is a son of William H. and Lorene Putnam. He is 19 AL AL AL, and his wife Mary E. Veasey is 18. They are living with her folks William and Mary Veasey in Phoenix. He is a cabinetmaker and they will be here with kids in 1930 and he’ll still be making cabinets.

Dad is still here. He is Hosea's son. He is 75 GA and his second wife Florence Russell is 41 AL. Eugenia died here on January 9, 1911. He married Florence here July 25, 1915. He will die here December 17, 1929. Florence was born here February 3, 1879 and will die here August 12, 1941.

John W's son is 48 AL, Lorene Foster his wife 41 AL, James 14 AL and Elise 9 AL. He was married to Nannie Porter who died July 30, 1901. Lorene is his second wife. They were married here January 10, 1912. He will die here September 30, 1929.

He is 58 AL and widowed. With him are Austin and Lidy McWilliams 53. She is listed as sister in law? I am not sure if he is a Putman or not. Don’t find him before and the entry is very hard to read.

He is Luther Gilbert Putman 18 AL and his wife Liddy (Lydia Ann Powers) is 16 AL. They were just married and are living with her folks. He is a son of William George Putman and Mary Lee Hill. They are here in 1930.
JAMES T. (THOMAS) PUTMAN Big Creek, Limestone County
He is 45 TN, Ola (Viola Brown) is 39 AL, Cary R. 11 AL, Lester N. 9 TX, James T. 7 AL and Clifford L. 2 AL. He is a son of Emmett Miles Putman. He was born in Tennessee March 8, 1877. He married Lee Alexander in Limestone County on April 20, 1898. She must have died shortly thereafter, as he married Viola Brown in about 1906, and they moved to Texas. They were in Hunt County Texas in 1910. They are in Sand Springs near his brother George in 1930.

He has two identical listings, having moved to Elkmont from Athens. He is 45 AL TN TN, Rosie King listed as his wife is only 17 TX, she is wife number two. Children are William 16, Roy 12, Elmer 10, Jessie 9, Ruth 4 and Lucile 3. In 1910, he was in Collins County Texas and listed as J. F. Putman. He's back now and will be here in 1930. He is a son of Zedoc Putman.

He was here in 1910 and listed as Lucus. He is Isaac’s son. He lives next door to George F. Putman in Elkmont. He is 34 AL, Anna 33, Bennie 9 AL, Pearl 7 AL, James M. 4 AL and Elvira 1 AL. Annie Lash is his second wife. She was the widow of his brother Ben. He also has another listing in Gilbertsboro. They are here in 1930 and Bennie is married then.

He is a son of Richard R. Putman and Palmira Pluten. Sam is 30 AL, Eva 32 AL, Jesse a son 8 AL, Lessie 6 AL, Ollie 4 AL and Jewell 1 AL. Sam was born in Alabama October 1, 1890 and died June 2, 1979. His wife Evelyn was born March 14, 1889 and died November 6, 1974. They lived in Elkmont, Limestone County all their lives.

He was here in 1900 and 1910. He is now 50 TN. His wife Annie Daly is 42 AL, Emma 17 AL, Ethel 15 AL, Ernie 12 AL, George 10 AL, Julia 8 AL, Clarence 6 AL and Virginia 2 AL. He is a son of Samuel Putman and Mary Ann Call. He was born in 1869. He married Annie Daly on December 25, 1892 in Limestone County. They are in Dyersburg, Tennessee in 1930.

He is on County Line Road. This George is 38 TN, Mary 29 Spurlock TN, Ernest 12 AL, Flossie 8, Lucile 3, Darkus (?) 2 and Willie D. 2 months old. They are here in Sand Springs in 1930. I think the age is 30 and he is Emmett’s son as shown in Madison County in 1910. In 1930 he is 40 so it fits. Also in 1930 Emmett’s son James lives almost next door.
JACK PUTMAN Cluttsville, Madison County
Jack (John) is shown as 47 TN, his wife Milly as 28 TX. Children are Larkin 19 TX and Ruby 16 AL. Then his father Miles (Emmett Miles) age 74 AL is there as well as a nephew Melvin 18 AL and a niece Marie 15 AL. The last two were with Emmett Putman in 1910 as grandchildren, and belong to his brother Andrew. Emmett will be in Sand Springs, Limestone County with his married daughter Sallie.

There is no first name, sorry. He is 21 AL, Annie L. is 19 TN and they have a new daughter Alice. He would be James Edward Putman a son of William and Lee Putman. He lives next door to Emmett Putman, who is his brother. James married Lucy Harmon, and that is what the 'L.' in Annie's name might stand for. They are back in Limestone County in 1930 and do have a 10 year old daughter.
BOASE PUTMAN Madison Crossroads, Madison County
He was listed as Boss in 1910 and a grandchild of Sam Putman. He is a son of Andrew Jackson Putman and Ella Mae White. He is shown as 24 TN, Lessie 20 AL and they have Hazel 2 AL. Boase is a railroad term for boss. Another one of our Putmans used that name in Arkansas.
EMMETT PUTMAN Madison Crossroads, Madison County
A son of William Putman and Lee Hill from Limestone County. He is 27 TN, Ellen Hollingsworth his wife is 20 AL, Audrey (Aretha) 4 AL and Ozell 1 TN. They are back in Limestone County in 1930.
WILLIAM PUTMAN Madison Crossroads, Madison County
Sam's son has moved from Limestone County since 1910. He is now 54, Lee Hill is 44, Naomi 15, Grover 13, Willie 11, Fannie 9, Emma 7, Clemie (probably Clemment) 7 and Lester 4. He will die in an explosion in 1929 and Lee and the kids are in Athens, Limestone County in 1930.
EDWARD R. PUTMAN Sulphur Springs, Madison County
Jess and Amanda's son has moved over from Jackson County. He is 42 TN, Charlotte Kroger 38 TN, Zella 20 TN, Dora (Cora) 14 TN, Floyd 11 AL, Ivesta 5 AL and Melvin 2 AL. They are in New Market, Madison County in 1930. He died in 1952 and Charlotte was alive at the time.
BELZORA PUTMAN Whitesburg, Madison County
She is Belzora Robinson the widow of Henry Edward Putman from Jackson County. He married Belzora Robinson December 6, 1899. They were in Jackson County in 1900 and Madison County in 1910. He died in Huntsville, Madison County Alabama on December 27, 1919. Belzora was born September 2, 1877 and died February 2, 1933 She is 42 AL, Paul G. 18 AL, Roy N. 16 AL, Mary E. 12 AL, Zora L. 9 AL, Calvin E. 7 AL, William F. 5 AL and James H. 2 AL. She is here in 1930.
ARTHUR PUTMAN Kimbrough, Marion County
He is 35 SC NC SC and a farmer. His wife Susie Jane Ramsey is 33 GA GA GA. They have Annie Mae 14 GA, Wendell 13 AL, Wade 8 AL, Frank 6 AL and Joe 2 3/12 AL. He is Arthur Belton Putman a son of John Wade Putman of Spartanburg, SC and grandson of Arthur McLain Putman from North Carolina. He has been here in 1910 and in Hall County Georgia before that. He married Susie there in 1903. They were in Winston County Alabama in 1910 and will be there in 1930 and he will be there in Haleyville till he dies in 1953.
JAMES VAN PUTMAN Reids, Marion County
John W. and Angie Putman's son was listed here in 1900 and I don't find him in 1910, but probably was here. He is now 56 AL and Ella Brown his second wife is 42 AL. At home are May J. 21, John C. 19 AL and Oslee L. a son age 7. He was first married to Mary Elizabeth Duke in 1885 and divorced in the early 1890s. She and their two kids were back in Calhoun County in 1900 and 1910 and the son Leroy is in Etowah County now and Mary Elizabeth will be with him there in 1930. Van and Ella and Jessie May are in Walker County in 1930. The son Oslee isn’t around then. Oslee was born December 16, 1912 and won’t die till August 6, 1994 in Birmingham, Alabama, so he is somewhere.
HOMER J. (JOHN JAMES) PUTMAN Marshall County
He is a son Sanford Simeon Putman and Mary Hagen, and has moved here from DeKalb County. He is a clerk in a retail store. He is 39 AL AL AL. His wife Daisy T. Southerlin is 33 AL, Grace 17 AL, Grady 17 AL (twins), Mary D. 9 AL and Jennie 5 AL. He was born February 26, 1880. He married Daisy T. Southerlin in Etowah County on November 24, 1901. The son Grady will be married in Etowah County in 1930.
MARTIN MARION PUTMAN Arab, Marshall County
Still here at age 69 AL NC NC, Mollie (Mary Mabry) is 66 AL. They have an 'orphan,' Haskal Watson, 7 AL with them. They never had kids of their own, just keep taking in strays. Nice folks. He is a son of Reverend Martin Putman and Mahulda Parker. He was born April 9, 1850. He married Mary E. Mabry on August 31, 1879. He will die here April 21, 1922.

He is still here. He's 63 AL. His wife Mary Hagen 60 AL, Bertha 28 AL and Ervin Hagen 22 AL are still at home. Mary will die in the next few years. He is still here with his son Ervin and is widowed in 1930. Mary is in Etowah County with their other son Berry then. She says she is a widow too. He is a son of John W. Putman and Angela Frances Walker from South Carolina and then Calhoun County Alabama. He was here in 1910, in Etowah County in 1900, and St. Clair before that. He was born February 4, 1856 and married Mary Hagen December 20, 1876, and they are in St. Clair County in 1880. He will die here on December 12, 1933.

They are here with more kids in 1930 and 1940. He is Norman William Pierson Putnam a son of Robert Putnam and Margaret Pratt. He was born August 10, 1893 in Hanover, Grey County Ontario Canada. He married Elicia March 29, 1910 in Toronto. He will die in Montgomery April 26, 1952. Elicia is a daughter of Phillip Elwyn Van Winkle and Annie Elisia Wilson and was born in Toronto August 8, 1883 and will die in Montgomery, Alabama December 28, 1960. This line is Robert > Solomon > Robert > Ephron (607) > Asaph (221) > Isaac (58) > Edward (13) > Thomas (3) > John (1). They were in Egremont, Grey South in 1871. New Englanders.

They are here in 1930 too.

Another of John and Eugenia's sons. He is 35 AL, Lucy L. 42 GA and a bunch of her children all named McClung from Georgia. He is currently a blacksmith. They are in Phoenix City, Lee County by 1930 as are most of his brothers all working in a cotton mill.

He's 61 AL NC AL, Willie Davis his second wife is 47, John Thelman (back from school) is 27 and Dora, a granddaughter, is 20. They are here in 1930. He is a son of Joel Allen Putman and his first wife Narcissa Coker. He was born in September 1862. He married Elizabeth Ann Tankersley, born July 30, 1858, in Georgia and died May 12, 1906. She was a daughter of Andrew and Martha Tankersley. He then married Willie E. Davis (widow of a Thelman guy) in 1909. Willie was born October 4, 1874 and died June 4, 1946. John died November 3, 1933 in St. Clair County.

He is 52 TN, Clara 39, Elizabeth 11 AL, Martha 9 AL and Ferdinand Junior 7 AL. There is a stepson William Barnes 18 AL with them. He is a son of John Covington Putman and Elizabeth Graham from Maury County Tennessee. They are all in St. Petersburg, Florida by 1930.

He is 21 AL in the State Hospital for the Insane in Tuscaloosa City. He is still in the hospital in 1940 and I’m sure forever.

He is 32, Pearlie May Stacks is 29, Marie 13, Claudine 10, Jewell 8, Dolphus Lawrence 6, Mabel 4 and Glenn Franklin 2. He is Hiram Alexander Putman and Mary Elizabeth Hollis's son. He is a coal miner. He was born April 26, 1888. He married Pearlie May Eveline Stacks on June 22, 1905. They were here in 1910. He will be killed in the mine disaster of August 10, 1927. Pearl and the kids are here in 1930.
