Perley Lewis Putnam and Laura Campbell from Colchester, Nova Scotia. He is here
as a student. I am not sure who Edna is unless it is a poor transcript of
Laura. Edna was right here in 1916 with a hubby named Easley which might be
sloppy handwriting for Perley. Who
Knows?

NEW BRUNSWICK
JEAN ALPHOUSE PUTMAN Shippegan,

He is 53 born in New Brunswick as were his parents. His wife Mary is 56 born also in New Brunswick. They are of French descent. Now there simply weren’t any Putmans or Putnams here back in the 1860s when Jean was born and certainly not in the 1830s and 40s when his folks were. So, don’t think they are kinfolk of ours.

WILLIAM PUTMAN Montreal City, Quebec
He is 21 ONT single and boarding. He is a clerk. Best guess is he is John William Putman a son of Emerson Putman and Matilda North from Gainsborough, Lincoln County Ontario where he was born April 30, 1900. But just a guess.
SASKATCHEWAN
CHARLES PUTMAN Aberdeen, Saskatchewan
He is 27 born in Scotland and single. He came to Canada in 1912.
B. L. (BENJAMIN LEVI) PUTMAN Reford, Battleford, Saskatchewan
He is 32 USA single and living with August and Earl Eklund and working on their farm. He came to Canada in 1921. Now gets confusing. He is a son of George Washington Putman and Rose Altha Kenison and was born in Nebraska December 25, 1888. Then he and the folks were in Whitley County Kentucky in 1900, York, Nebraska in 1910 and then he was in Waterloo, Nebraska in 1920. He had married Anna Sophia Eklund in about 1916 and they were in Waterloo in the 1920 census. These two guys here in Canada are probably her brothers or something. I don’t know where she is now, but she will die in 1923 and Ben will go to Arkansas and marry a widow Blanche Mitchell and they and the kids are in Morgan, Lawrence County Arkansas in 1930. Southern Putman family going back to Ezekiel Putman in Fulton County Illinois then back to Kentucky to South Carolina and Virginia.
JAMES PUTNAM Eyebrow, Saskatchewan
He is 72 USA single and immigrated here in 1906. His folks were both born in England.
AMELIA PUTMAN Enterprise, Maple Creek, Saskatchewan
She is 35 USA and widowed. She has a son Marvel 9 USA. Her
folks are from Switzerland and she is a housekeeper for Hans Soles. She
immigrated to Canada in 1917. She is in Lodi, California in 1930 with her
mother Elsie Rageth from Switzerland I couldn’t figure her out when doing the 1930 censuses.
But when doing the 1940 census, much more info was available on Ancestry and
Family Search. So, Amelia Rageth was married to
Charles Corgan/Corrigan/C-something Putnam in
Aberdeen, Brown County South Dakota April 1, 1910. They were in the City
Directory of Fargo, North Dakota in 1910 and still in 1915. In 1917 Charles is
living by himself in Fargo, and in 1919 he has a new wife Bessie Olvida Johnson and they are in the 1920 census in Fargo. In
1930 Charles and Bessie are in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They will get divorced and
in 1940 Bessie and their son Charles are still in Cedar Rapids. Charles in 1940
is in West Union, Fayette County Iowa with yet another wife Cora. He will die
in West Union in April 1942. But with all this I still can’t figure out who Charles folks are. Anyway,
getting back to Amelia. She is a daughter of Caspar Rageth
and Elspeth Bardill, both born in Switzerland. She
was born in Wisconsin March 18, 1887 and will die in Sacramento in 1978. She
and Charles had a son Marvel Rageth Putnam born in
Breckenridge, Minnesota May 27, 1912. He was baptized Corigan
Marvel Putnam on March 30, 1913 in Fargo, North Dakota with parents Charles C.
and Amelia L. Putnam. In 1930 he was in the U. S. Navy in San Diego, but was
back here in Lodi in 1935 and now is married to Florence Elizabeth Fink in San
Francisco now in 1940.
