DALE
PUTNAM Fort Lauderdale, Broward County
He is 32 IL, his wife Ruth Irene Messer 32 IL and they have John 5
IL, Marie 4 IL and Carl 3 IL. He is a salesman of old and rare books. They were
in Bloomington, McLean County Illinois in 1935 and obviously just got here.
Dale Wilson Putnam is a son of Ernest Wentworth Putnam and Cora Elizabeth
Wilson and was born in Henning, Vermilion County Illinois September 23, 1907 and
will die back in Bloomington January 25, 1976. Ruth is a daughter of Isaac
Irvin Messer and Mabel Jane Harper and was born in Lexington, McLean County
Illinois January 12, 1908 and will die in Marshalltown, Iowa November 2, 2002.
His dad Ernest was raised by Joseph Putman and Elizabeth Slusser in Vermilion
County, but is actually an out of wedlock son of their oldest daughter Mary
Ellen Putman. Southern Putman line out of Kentucky.
NELLIE PUTNAM Coral Gables, Dade County
She is 40 BELGIUM and divorced. Her daughter Helene is 18 GERMANY.
She was married to Webster Fletcher Putnam, Jr. who is an officer in the U. S.
Army. He is a son of Webster Fletcher Putnam and Helen Preston Meldram from Danvers, Massachusetts. He was born there
December 15, 1895. He was in Denver, Colorado in 1917 when he registered for
the draft. Then he joined the Army and was stationed in Coblenz, Germany in
1920 where he met and married Nellie. They were here in 1930, and she was by
herself and Helene and a son Webster 3rd who was 12 in 1935.
RICHARD
PUTNAM Coral Gables, Dade County
He is 46 IN and married to Frances Juanita Hardacre 40 CAN and they have Douglas 8 OH and Kenneth 7
OH. He operates a gasoline service station. He is a son of Ellis Barnes Putnam
and Theresa Adelaide Medary and was at home in Delhi,
Hamilton County Ohio in 1900. Ellis is a son of
Mulford Martin Putman (born Steuben County New York) who moved to Canada and
married Elizabeth Barnes In Elgin East, Ontario. Dutch Poutman family from Montgomery County New York. They were
married in Vancouver, Washington January 2, 1927 and were in Canton, Stark
County Ohio in 1930 and 1935.
ALONZO W. (WHIPPLE) PUTNAM Miami, Dade County
He is
46 MN and his wife Esther Grace is 46 ND. He is a real estate dealer. They were
in Miami in 1930 and Fort Lauderdale in 1935 and will be again in 1945. Alonzo
Whipple Putnam is a son of Hiram Morgan Putnam and Winnie E. Williams from
Traverse County Minnesota. Esther will die in Fort Lauderdale in January 1962.
Alonzo will then later marry Lucille Eleanor Lathrop in November 1965. Alonzo
was born February 19, 1894 and will die in Fort Lauderdale in May 1977. Lucille
was born December 22, 1909 and will die there October 7, 1999.
ARTHUR
D. (DAVIS) PUTNAM Miami, Dade County
He is 72 MA, his wife Louise F. Sartelle 72 MA. He is the son of Otis Earle Putnam and
Louisa Davis from Worcester City, Massachusetts. He was born there February 16,
1868. He married Louise May 21, 1890. They were in Worcester up through 1935.
He was a civil engineer for the electric Company and has come down here to
retire it seems. He will die here in August 1957. New England line.
ARTIE
PUTMAN Miami, Dade County
She is 28 SC single and lodging. She is a bookkeeper for General
Electric Company. She is a daughter of Robert Alexander Putman and Willie Rippy from Cherokee, Cherokee County South Carolina. Her
folks were from Cleveland County North Carolina before moving to South Carolina
the same year she was born. She was in Atlanta in 1935.
CAROLYN PUTNAM Miami, Dade County
She is 50 IL single and boarding. She says she was in New York City
in 1935. She is also here in 1945. Best I can find is a New York Passenger list
that has her born February 14, 1891 In Highland Park, Illinois. Doesn’t say if
she was married or single. She was coming back from Kingston, Jamaica February
28, 1932. She owns her house and doesn’t have a job so seems pretty well off.
CHARLES F. (FRANCIS) PUTNAM Miami, Dade County
He is 44 KY KY KY and his wife Helen S. is 44 ND SWED SWED.
They have been married 13 years, and he is a salesman-agent for ladies dresses
as he has been. He is the son of Nathan Henry Putnam and Nancy Spaulding from
Lebanon, Kentucky and grandson of Joseph Whitney Putnam from Louisville. They
were in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania in 1930 and in San Francisco in 1935, and
will be in Chicago, Illinois in 1942 when he registers for the draft and is
there in 1950 too. New England family originally from Massachusetts.
She is 58 IN and divorced. She was married to James W. Putnam in
Denver Colorado in 1910. She and Howard were in Cincinnati in 1920. She was
here with her son Howard in 1930. As to Howard, he is in White Plains, New York
in 1940 and says he lived in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1935. He is a Postal
clerk in 1940, says he is married but he is alone and lodging. Now as to the
husband James. He was born in Texas in 1883 and his folks were from Georgia.
Can’t find him in Texas. James will be in Volusia County in 1950 with a wife
Mary. Don’t know where he is now though.
EDWARD
PUTNAM Miami, Dade County
He is 52 CAN single and lodging. He doesn’t
have a job. He was in New York City in 1935. He is Mark Edward Putnam born in
Hamilton, Wentworth Ontario October 23, 1886. He is a son of Percy Stephens
Putnam from Massachusetts and Helen Jane Lampshire
from Hamilton Ontario. He was with the family in the Bronx, New York City in
1920 and was here in Miami in 1930.
GARRETT
B. (BEATTIE) PUTNAM Miami, Dade County
He is 30 MO and his wife Helen Dehnert is 26 IL and they have Helen
L. 3 MO and William H. 1 MO. He is an auto supply parts salesman. They were in
Los Angeles, California in 1935. He is a son of William Putnam and Pauline
Beattie and was born in St. Louis, Missouri July 17, 1909. His dad was a son of
John W. and Emma Putnam from Cleveland, Ohio and Canada before that. John was a
son of Martin Mulford Putman and Elizabeth Barnes from Norfolk Ontario. Garrett
will die January 12, 1989 in Scottsdale, Arizona. This is a Dutch Putman line
out of New York State originally. Garrett and Helen will divorce as in the 1945
Census, Helen and the kids are gone and Garrett is still here but married to
Carrie Ramsey from Florida.
ISRAEL PUTNAM Miami, Dade County
He is
a W.P.A. landscaper 65 CT and his wife Arlene is 68 CT. He is Israel Clinton
Putnam a son of Giles Putnam and Mary Ellen Burnham From East Hartford,
Connecticut. He was at home there in 1880 and 1920. He was in Detroit, Michigan
in 1930. They were here in 1935 and are here in 1945.
JAMES
PUTMAN Miami, Dade County
He is 33 AL and his wife Mary Morris 26 AL and they have Barbara 4
FL. Says they were in rural Dade County in 1935 but I can’t find them. He is a
medical doctor in his own private practice. He is a son of William Ira Putman
and Maggie Riley from Alabama City, Etowah County Alabama. He was born there
November 27, 1906 and was there through 1930. He will die down here in Escambia
County Florida June 4, 1989. They are here in 1950. Southern Putman family.
JOHN
J. PUTMAN Miami, Dade County
He is 59 NY and single and boarding and no job. He was in Van Hornesville, Herkimer County New York in 1935. He is a son
of John Putman and Abbie Jane Wilcox from Cedarville, Herkimer County. New York
Dutch Putman line.
MARY
PUTNAM Miami, Dade County
She is 31 WI single and boarding. She is a bookkeeper at the
Y.W.C.A. She says she was here in 1935 but I can’t find her. There were no 1
year old Mary Putnams in Wisconsin or 11 year olds in 1920. Only person that kinda fits age wise is Chester Putnam’s wife in West Allis,
Milwaukee County Wisconsin in 1930.
MARY PUTNAM Miami, Dade County
She is 70 MA and divorced. Mary Ann Taft was married to Alden
Putnam from Worcester and they were in Rockland County New York in 1900. By
1910 she and her daughter Geraldine were in Boston and Alden was gone then. She
was here in 1930 divorced. Also in 1930 Alden is out in Humboldt County California with a new wife
Mabel from Maryland. She now has her married daughter Jean 45 NY and her
husband Herman Hohlboom 42 GER living with her.
Herman is a jeweler in a retail store.
MARY S. PUTNAM Miami, Dade County
She is 61 PA widowed and has her sons Thomas S. 30 DC and Donald M.
23 DC still with her. Mary Shryoke was married to
Charles Montcalm Putnam here in 1930. He died here May 6, 1934. He was a son of
Thomas Jefferson Putnam and Emma Frances Torrey from Danvers, Massachusetts.
His dad was a librarian at the Library of Congress for years and Charles was
born there in Washington. He and Mary were married there in 1910 and 1920 and
here in 1930 and 1935. She and young Thomas are still here in 1945.
RUSSELL L. (LAMPHERE)
PUTNAM Miami, Dade County

DC and his wife Lucille Mildred Atkinson 44 GA. Also here is their married
daughter Mary Elizabeth 21 PA and her husband James L. Alspaugh
23 KS. He is a son of Thomas Jefferson Putnam and Emma Frances Torrey from
Danvers, Massachusetts. The family was in Washington for a good length of time,
and Russell was there with them in the 1900 census. His dad was a Librarian at
the Library of Congress there. Thomas is a son of Thomas Jefferson Putnam and
Judith Stone from Danvers. Russell and Lucille were married June 22, 1916. They
were here in 1920 and on. He was born January 3, 1893 and will die here in
Miami December 1, 1970. Lucille is a daughter of Robert Virgil Atkinson and
Mary Belle McKeehan and was born in Atlanta, Georgia
April 4, 1895 and will die here in Miami July 21, 1957. The Atkinsons are in
the real estate business and Russell is a superintendent of a building for
them.
SUZIE
D. PUTNAM Miami, Dade County
She is 65 MI and widowed. Says she was in Rural St. Joseph County
Michigan in 1935. She is Suzie
Delia Champion, widow of John Frederick Putnam. John is the son of Peter Putnam
and Rachel Schutz from White Pigeon, MI. You can see them in 1870 and 1880 MI.

TOM
PUTMAN Miami, Dade County
He is 25 GA single and rooming. He drives a truck for a dairy
company. Milkman I would guess. He never appears in Georgia so assume not a
Putman/Putnam.
GEORGE
L. (LAURISTON) PUTNAM Miami Beach, Dade
County
He is 72 ME and widowed. He says he was in the same place in 1935
and is a laborer for the City of Miami Beach. He is a son of Lauriston Putnam
and Eleanor B. Small of Searsport, Maine. The family moved to Boston by 1870,
and his folks were in Malden. George was in Worcester in 1900 and Lynn in 1920 and
was a doctor. I don’t know what happened to his wife. He married Ann Elizabeth
Evans in Boston in 1895 but by 1900 she was living with her folks and far as I
can see was never with George after that.
MARCUS
C. (CLYDE) PUTNAM Outside Miami, Dade
County
He is 54 SC NC SC. He is a son of Joseph Alexander Putman and Nancy
Ellen LeMaster from Spartanburg South Carolina, and
was born there September 22, 1885. His dad was born in Waco, North Carolina. He
says he is married but there is a line drawn through the ‘M’ for married. He
married Carrie Elizabeth Thomason August 26, 1907 and they were in Atlanta
Georgia in 1910 and 1920. They were in Polk County Florida in 1930 and Carrie
was ‘widowed’ there in 1935 and also now in 1940 and 1945. She will die there
September 26, 1966. Catch is that Marcus was in Greenville, South Carolina in
1935, here now and 1945 and will die here September 10, 1959. He keeps saying
he is married but they are separated and it will be official in 1951. He will
be here in 1950 and Carrie will be around here then too.
JACQUELINE
PUTNAM Surfside, Dade County
She is 35 MA and divorced. She says she was in rural Broward County
in 1935, but she isn’t listed there and I don’t find her any earlier than this.
She is however in Miami in 1945 and in Surfside in 1950.
GEORGE A. (ARTHUR) PUTNAM Jacksonville, Duval County
He is
49 TX and owns a rooming house. He is still here in Jacksonville in 1945 with
his son Richard 17 GA who is in the Navy. This is a Dutch Putman family out of
New York State. George was indeed born in El Paso, Texas June 6, 1890. He was a
son of George Banister Putnam and Mary Holland. His dad died in El Paso
December 12, 1889, Mary died in his childbirth in June 1890. He was taken back
to his grandmother’s home in Mount Morris, Livingston County New York. His
grandmother Helen Marrs Burch was married to George William Putman who was an
engineer for the railroad and died in a train wreck in Clay, New York in March
1865. Helen then married his brother Ellis Putnam in 1866 and they were in
Mount Morris, New York in 1900 and that’s where I found George Arthur in the
1900 census. Ellis died there March 6, 1905 and Helen died there November 23,
1912. Anyway George Arthur married Hazel Grace Benway
June 25, 1913. He enlisted in the draft while in Rochester, New York. In the
1920 census, Hazel was there with her father and a son Arthur 6. By 1930 they
were divorced, Hazel married another guy and he died and she and their son
Arthur were still back with her folks in Rochester. George married Virginia
Alberta Landry in Blaine Oklahoma August 5, 1925. They split as in 1930
Virginia and their son Richard were with her mom here in Jacksonville. Now in
1940 she is married to W. L. Loue or Louis and the listing below is for Richard
Putnam. In 1945 Richard is in the Navy and then living here with his dad.

He is a Negro 56 GA married with a granddaughter.

He is a Negro 32 GA married with a family.
LYMAN W. (WHEELER) PUTNAM Jacksonville, Duval County
He is 43 MO and his wife Inez Lanier 38 FL. He is Lyman Wheeler
Junior, son of Lyman W. and Fanny Putnam from University City, St. Louis County
Missouri. He was born there July 2, 1896. In 1920 he was listed with his folks
and also at Camp Dix in New Jersey. That’s probably where he met Inez while he
was in the service. They were in Clinton County Illinois in 1930. They were
here in 1935. He is manager of a food brokerage company. He will die in
Hernando County in 1949. Inez was born February 12, 1902 and will die in
Jacksonville October 31, 1979.
MINNIE
L. (LEE) PUTNAM Jacksonville, Duval
County
She is 35 GA divorced. She is a daughter of Bunyan Barnes and Zetekiah ‘Zettie’ Britt. She is living here with her married sister Mamie 45 GA and husband Joe Willits 56 NC and her widowed mother Zettie Barnes 66 GA. Found several sheets on her but none that mentions marrying a Putnam. She was single here in 1930 and I don’t find in 1935. She will marry Frederick Henry Korbach sometime after this though. Good luck!

PUTMAN Jacksonville, Duval County
He is 12 GA and lives with his mother Virginia Augusta Landry 30 WV
and her new husband W. L. Loue 30 GA. They say they were here in 1935. His dad
George Arthur Putman is here and listed above. See George’s entry for the
lineage. Richard is here in 1945 when he is in the navy and will be living with
his dad George.

She is a Negro 30 GA and single.

He is a Negro 31 GA married with some kids.
WEBSTER
F. (FLETCHER) PUTNAM JR. Duval County
He is 44 MA and his second wife Ruth Cash is 31 FL. He is a Major
in the U.S. Army. He is a son of Webster Fletcher Putnam and Helen Preston Meldram from Danvers. In 1920 he was stationed in Coblenz,
Germany where he met and married his first wife Nellie and had two kids over in
Germany. He and Nellie were in Coral Gales in 1930. Got divorced and he was
with Ruth in Denver in 1935 and now here. He was born December 15, 1895 in
Danvers and will die on August 22, 1984 in Dade County. Ruth was born on
October 27, 1908 and will die on January 14, 1989 in Dade County. They are in
Dade County in 1945.

CHARLIE PUTMAN Pensacola, Escambia
County
He is 32 GA and married to Joanne Lee Jones 23 AL. He is a sheet
metal worker at the U. S. Navy air station. Check out the next listing, same
guy. His info follows:

C. PUTNAM Pensacola, Escambia County
He is listed here as 32 AL and listed as married. He is lodging and
is a sheet metal worker at the U. S. Navy air station. Also says he was in
Phoenix City, Alabama in 1935. He is a son of Charles Bradford Putman and Lydia
E. Thomas from Girard, Russell County Alabama. In 1930 his folks were still in
Girard and Charles was nearby in Phoenix City married to Annie D. Allen with
two daughters. They were married July 1, 1925 and divorced in the 1930s. And
yes, he was a sheet metal worker then too. I assume he was still married there
in 1935 or in the midst of divorce. He married Joanne Lee Jones April 27, 1941
so the listing is off by a year or they aren’t quite married now. Here he is
now and by golly he is the C. C. Putman here in 1945 married to his third girl
friend Myrtle Lee Stroll who he married June 8, 1944, also his age and from
Alabama.
GEORGE PUTNAM Pensacola, Escambia County
He is 24 MS and his wife Ethel 32 LA. He is an ice salesman.
Remember this was still the era of iceboxes though refrigerators were staring
to be made. He is George Farris Putnam a son of George Washington Putman and
Minnie Ida Tucker and was born in Webster County Mississippi March 23, 1917 and
will die in Alabama August 16, 1991. He will become a career soldier in the
U.S. Army shortly and will be married three times. I don’t have Ethel’s name
but the last one will be Patricia Zebb from Rockford,
Illinois. For what it’s worth, his mother will come down here to Pensacola and
die here May 16, 1982. Southern Putman Family North Carolina to Alabama to
Mississippi.
TROY
PUTTMAN Quincy, Gadsden County
He is a Negro 29 FL married with kids.
CORA
D. PUTMAN Brandon, Hillsborough County
She is 67 NY single and living by herself. She is a daughter of James
Nelson and Catherine Lydia Putman from Sullivan, Madison County New York. She
was home there in 1880. She is here in Brandon in 1920, 1930 and 1940. New York
Dutch.
JAMES
PUTMAN Gary, Hillsborough County
He is a Negro 55 FL and has a family. They were here in 1930 and
still are in 1950.
JOSEPH
B. (BUFORD) PUTMAN Gary, Hillsborough
County
He is 33 NC, his wife Velma Levada 23 FL and they have Agnes 1 FL. They
were in Miami in 1935, but not indexed or listed in the census. They are here
in 1945 though. He is a grower’s keeper in a greenhouse. He is a son of John
Samuel Putman and Laura Agnes Hux. He was born in
Rocky Mount, Edgecombe County North Carolina July 26, 1906. He’ll die in Dade
County in June 1968.
JAMES
PUTNAM Plant City, Hillsborough County
He is 21 GA, his wife Mae Kirkland 19 GA. They live with her
parents Arthur and Emma Kirkland. He works in a wholesale strawberry plant.
Can’t figure him out though. He is exact age of James Terrell Putnam son of Cossie Phillip Putman and Ida Lillian Ellis from Stephens
County Georgia, but that guy is single and at home with them now and will soon
marry Josephine Ovis Wilkinson in Georgia.
ARTHUR PUTNAM Tampa, Hillsborough County
He is 48 MN and married to Zella H. McCall 36 WV and they
were here in 1935. He operates a steam dredge. He is Arthur Andrew Putnam a son
of Arthur C. Putnam and Jennie C. Walrath and was born in Minneapolis,
Minnesota May 30, 1890. He will die in Pinellas County Florida in April 1968.
He will be here in 1945 and be single once again. He will much later marry
Theresa Annette Haga here in November 1961, she will
die here in Tampa in 1970.
CLARA
B. PUTNAM Tampa, Hillsborough County
She is 69 VT and now widowed. Clara Belle Dunham has been married
to Charles Richard Putnam here in Tampa since the 1920s. Before that they were
in Lexington, Massachusetts. Charles was a son of George Putnam and Polly
Temple, son of Gilbert (2840) Putnam and Thankful Rogers of Stockton, New York.
Charles was born while the family was in Geneva, Ashtabula County Ohio in the
1870s and 1880s. Clara Belle was born June 22, 1869 in Montgomery, Vermont and
will die here in January 1956. Chuck was born October 10, 1867 and just died
here in 1939.
PAUL
P. (PATRICK) PUTMAN Marianna, Jackson
County
He is 70 MO and his wife Lula C. 65 AL. He is an office supply
salesman. He was here and Lula was in San Antonio, Texas in 1935. I can’t find
him before this.
CARRIE
BELL PUTMAN Lafayette County
She is 26 GA and divorced. She has Curtis 6 FL (GA in 1945) and
Viola 3 FL. They are living with her father Marsilious
McSwain 47 GA and also divorced. They were all in Marion County Florida in
1935. She is in San Antonio, Pasco County Florida in 1945 with these two kids
and one more born in 1941. Carrie Bell McSwain was married to Homer Putman. I
never find them and no ideas or leads as to Homer’s folks.
GEORGE H. (HILDRETH) PUTNAM Astatula, Lake County
He is
alone and is 66 ME. He is a son of George Alvan Putnam and Lucy Adiline Rea from Andover, Massachusetts. He was born while
the family was in Kittery, Maine on November 11, 1873. His dad was then working
in the Navy Yard there. George was in Cumberland County New Jersey in 1910 and
1920 and I don’t think ever married. He was single here in 1935.
J.
R. (JOEL RAYMOND) Leesburg, Lake County
He is 25 GA, and his wife Betsy Parker is 23 FL and they have
Marvin 3 FL and Shirley 2 FL. His sister Lottie Belle Putnam 29 GA is with
them. He drives a truck for a fish market. He is a son of John Edward Putman
and Mary Ann Harrison from Spaulding County Georgia. He was born there August
26, 1914. John was a son of Sanford Allen Putman. John died back there April
30, 1924 and Mary was widowed there in 1930. All of them were in Winter Park,
Orange County in 1935. Mary Ann died there on December 28, 1936. They aren’t
around here in 1945. They are here in
1950.

single and boarding. Jesse is a son of Edwin Putnam and Dianna Titus from
Franklin County Massachusetts. He was born in Erving, Massachusetts. He has
been here since the 1920 and will be here in 1945.
WILLIAM W. PUTNAM Tallahassee, Leon County
He is
32 MA and Maxine Schannep his wife 32 MO. Her sister
Clara Schannaep 27 MO is with them and is a sales
lady at Putnam Jewelers. He owns Putnam’s Jewelry Store. Maxine is a school
teacher. He is a son of Walter D. Putnam and Marrietta
Harrison from Spencer, Massachusetts. He was born there March 19, 1903 and will
die in Worcester, Massachusetts June 8, 1991. They were here in 1935 and are
here in 1945.
LILY
M. PUTMAN East Lake, Marion County
She is a Negro 38 GA and widowed.
He is 73 TN AL TN and a farmer. His wife Martha Frances ’Mattie’
Lunn is 73 TN, and their son Clifford 40 TN who was married in Nashville in
1930 then here in 1935. James is a son of John Putman and Nancy Vaughan from
Williamson County Tennessee. They were in Davidson County Tennessee from 1900
until 1920 and here in 1930. They will be here the rest of their lives. James
was born May 4, 1866, and will die in Orlando January 31, 1946. Southern
Putmans.
EDWARD
O. (OWEN) PUTMAN Orlando, Orange County
He is
40 GA, Carrie Lou Ashley his wife 35 GA and Vivan L.
15 FL. All three were in Winter Park, Orange County in 1930 and Apopka in 1935
but he called himself Jack then. He and Carrie are fruit packers in a packing
house. Edward Owen Putman is a son of John Edward Putnam and Mary Ann Harrison
from Spaulding County Georgia was born October 13, 1898 in Spaulding
County. He married Rochelle Shivers and
then they divorced in the early to mid 1920s. He then married Carrie Lou Ashley
and they moved to Orange County Florida and were there in 1930 through 1945. He
will die in Orange County in June 1962. Rochelle married Augustus Brown and
they were in Spartanburg County South Carolina in 1935 and 1940. She had her
son Charles Putman born 1922 in Georgia, with her then. In 1930 Charles was
with her mother Alice Shivers in Spaulding County. Southern family out of South
Carolina to Alabama to Georgia.
CLAUDE PUTMAN Lake Worth, Palm Beach County
He is
75 PA single and a patient in the Boyce Nursing Home. He is a son of William A.
Putman and Lydia Freeland. William was at home with his folks Hiram Putnam and
Lucinda Stephens in Steuben County New York in 1850. He was married there in
1860 then was in Pennsylvania very briefly about 1864 where Claude was born,
then in Gratiot County Michigan by 1866 after the Civil War ended. Claude
married Martha ‘Mattie’ Bartlett there in Emerson Township, Gratiot County May
21, 1899. They were in Houghton County Michigan in 1900 and Benzie County in
1910. He was widowed in Chicago, Illinois in 1920. He will die here in 1943.

1935. In 1920 she had her son Jack with her so she had been married to a

MO and Della Q. Luce 67 IN. The ‘M’ for married has a line through it. My guess
is that she and Randolph are separated. Randolph is in New York City now in
1940. They however are together here in 1950. She was married to Randolph
Eugene Putnam in Forest Hills in 1930 and 1935. Randolph or Ralph, as he is
sometimes called, is a son of Robert H. Putnam and Eunice Wells and was born in
Jersey City, New Jersey August 24, 1896. They were in Roscommon County in 1910
and in St. Clair County in 1920. New England Line that went up into Canada and
then back down into Michigan.

She is a nurse 59 PA and widowed. Clara Ross was married to
Ferdinand Beecher Putman here in 1930. They were married in Birmingham, Alabama
in 1900 and 1910 and they were all in York, Sumter County Alabama in 1920. He
was a son of John Covington Putman and Elizabeth Graham from Maury County
Tennessee. He was born in 1867 while the family was in Warren County Tennessee.
He died here in 1932, and I don’t know when Clara died.

46 ME and manager of his apartment house. His wife Blanche Antoinette White is
46 ME. He is a son of Harry Lyman Putnam and Gertrude Mary Bass
from Houlton, Aroostook County Maine. Donald and Antoinette are here in 1940 and 1945 too.
Donald was with his folks in Houlton, Maine in 1900 and 1910 and then was in
Louisville, Kentucky in 1920 and then back in Waterville, Maine in 1930 and
here by 1935. Blanche will die here in 1945 and he will marry Laura Alma
Fullerton here September 20, 1946.

She is 31 AL single and lodging. She says she was here in 1935, but
isn’t in the census. And being single and lodging she would just have to be a
public school teacher, and yes she is. They never ever get married. Anyway, she was here in 1930 with her parents
Ferdinand Beecher Putnam and Clara Ross. They were all in York, Sumpter County
Alabama in 1920. Her dad a son of John Covington Putman and Elizabeth Graham
from Maury County Tennessee. He was born in 1867 while the family was in Warren
County Tennessee. He died here in 1932 and Clara is widowed here and listed
just above.

He is 32 IL single and living with his aunt Ruth Carlington 44 MO. They were both in Binghamton, New York in
1935. He is a son of Eugene Valentine Putnam and Anna Carlington
and was born in Chicago, Illinois October 12, 1907. This is kinda
strange. He married Beryl Robertson about 1929 and they were in Des Moines,
Iowa with her folks in 1930. But in 1930 he was also listed as single and with
his own folks in Wichita, Kansas. Now in 1940 he is listed also back in Des
Moines with his wife Beryl. In 1945 he is living here with his widowed mother
Ann Carlington Putnam and no Beryl again. He will die
back in Des Moines in July 1974. Beats me what’s going on. Southern Putman

26, 1900 and will die here September 27, 1977. He married Hayne in Greenville
July 4, 1928. She was born in Woodruff, South Carolina February 27, 1908 and
will die in Broward County Florida September 30, 1994. They were here in 1930

here in 1930, back in North East Township, Pennsylvania in 1935 and back here
again now. He is a son of Burton Hill Putnam and Flora Bowers from North East, Erie
County Pennsylvania. His folks were from Chautauqua County New York. He and
Edith were in Pittsburgh in 1910 and 1920 and are still here in 1945. New

His wife Alice L. Foster is 72 VA. He is a son of John Lewis Putnam and Florence Thompson of
Madison, Florida. He was born there July 30, 1871. This is a New England family
going back to Benjamin Putnam from Massachusetts who was in Savannah, Georgia
in the mid 1780s. His dad John Lewis died in Savannah in 1876 of yellow fever.
His widow Florence Thompson then married Henry F. Wright and they were in
Norfolk Virginia in the late 1800s and in the 1900 census. That’s where he
married Alice. They were then in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1920 and here
in 1930. Lewis will die November 11, 1966 back in Spartanburg. Alice was born
in Virginia in 1868 and will die in Spartanburg January 30. 1958. They are here
still in 1945.

born October 17, 1883. His dad was a son of George Haven Putnam, the book
publisher from New York City. His dad died in North Adams, Massachusetts in
1886 and his mother in Jamestown, Rhode Island in 1900. He was born October 17,
1883, and will die here in 1957. Helen is a daughter of Charles Fuller Armington and Sarah Randall. She was born in 1883 and will
die here in 1967.

She is 44 IL and widowed. Cecelia Mae Howell
was married to Ira Ballard Putnam back in White County Illinois January 16,
1915 and they were there in 1920 and then down here in Bartow by 1922. Ira was
a son of William H. Putnam and Marian W. King from Wabash County Illinois. They
were a New England family. He died here June 15, 1938. I find a couple of
family sheets that say Cecelia will marry Wesley Delbert Courter in Tampa,
Florida April 25, 1943 and they will be in Lansing, Michigan where Wesley was
from in 1955. He will die back here in Tampa February 22, 1977. Cecelia will
die in Picayune, Mississippi March 8, 1992.

He is 31 IL, his wife Sarah Edith Langford is 31 IL and they have
William 6/12 FL. They are living with her widowed mother Ethel Langford. He is
a truck driver for a produce farm or company. He is a son of William Dudley
Putnam and Helen Bryant from Lake County Illinois. Dudley was a son of Abel
Adelbert Putnam and Abbie Anna Dudley from Lake County and then Chester Vermont
before that. His folks were both in Lake County Illinois in 1920. They came to
Florida in the 1920s, lost their money and the father abandoned his wife Helen
Bryant and kids here. In 1930 they were here with Helen’s folks. Dudley was
born March 8, 1909 and will die here in Polk County August 22, 2003. His wife
Edith was born in July 1905 and will die here October 5, 1989.

Dickson Putman and Frances Adaline Jenkins from Cleveland County North Carolina

He is 47 TN, his second wife Bertha Ann Ahern 45 MN and they have
Iris 17 FL. He is a clerk in a freight office. He is a son of James Henry
Putman and Martha Frances Lunn. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee February 2,
1893 and will die in Fort Myers, Florida May 29, 1977 at age 84. He had married
Vera J. King there in 1916 and they were in Nashville in 1920. By 1930 they
divorced or something and Leon was here in Orange County Florida with his
folks. He married Bertha down here in Orange County in 1932 and they were here
in 1935. They are in Lockhart, Orange County by 1945 where he is a bus driver.
Bertha was born in Grand Forbes, Minnesota March 14, 1895 and will die in Fort
Myers, Florida October 14, 1976. They were married in 1932 and never had any
children. Now they have a daughter Iris 17, but she was from Bertha’s first
marriage. Southern Putmans North Carolina to Alabama to Tennessee.
She is a Negro 20 MI and a servant in the McAllister household who
are also from Michigan.
He is a Negro 80 GA GA GA and has a family. They were here in 1930 as well.

He is 69 CT and his wife Flora Marie Prince 63 MA. He is a son of
Charles Freeman Putnam and Hulda Morse and was born
in January 1871 in Eastford, Windham County Connecticut. He and Flora were
there in 1900 and in Southbridge, Massachusetts in 1910 through 1930, then here
in 1935. Charles will be in the Florida State
Mental Institution in Sebring, Gadston County in the
1950 census.

first wife Dorothy Binney. His dad is a son of John Bishop Putnam and Frances
Faulkner of New York City. He ran a newspaper in Crook County Oregon in the
early 1900s and was there in 1910. He married Dorothy Binney in October 1911 in
Old Greenwich, Connecticut. David was born in Oregon May 20, 1913. His folks
got divorced in the 1920s and his mom came down to Florida. His dad is owner of
G. P. Putnam Publishing and is named for his grandfather the founder. He
married Amelia Earhart the famous aviatrix on February 7, 1931 in Noank, Connecticut. Now back to David. He married Nilla in Broward Florida March 5, 1934. She is a daughter
of Dr. Jacob Alexander Shields and Nilla Susan
Pittman and was born in Walker County Georgia July 21, 1912 and will die in St.
Lucie June 25, 1990. They will get divorced here on July 21, 1975. David will
die here in St. Lucie June 1, 1992.
DOROTHY
PUTNAM, St. Lucie County
She is 48 NY and divorced and has a fruit farm. She says she was in
the same house in 1935, but I can’t find her in the 1935 census. She is listed
lines above David Putnam listed above who is her son. Her other son George is
listed just below. Dorothy Binney was married to George Palmer Putnam who is
the owner of G. P. Putnam publishing which was founded by his grandfather
George. Dorothy is a daughter of Edwin Binney and Alice Stead and was born in
Connecticut July 20, 1888 and will ultimately die in Palm Beach, Florida in
1982. She married George Binney in October 1911 in Old Greenwich, Connecticut.
Then he was owner of a newspaper in Oregon so they moved out there where her
son David was born. They were in Rye, New York in 1920 and then got divorced. I
don’t know where she was in 1930 but she and her kids are here and say they
were in 1935, maybe they were here in 1930 too but I can’t find them.

He is 18 NY and says he was here in 1935. His wife Betty Horne is
19 AL and she was in Birmingham, Alabama in 1935. He is a fruit truck farmer.
Also here is George Stall Jr. 25 FL who is a foreman on the fruit farm and was
here in 1935 too. He too is a son of George Palmer Putnam and his first wife
Dorothy Binney. His folks divorced in the 1920s and he and his brother David
came down here with their mother. Their dad has married Amelia Earhart and they
live in New York City. George was born May 9, 1921 in Rye New York when the
family came back to New York from Oregon.

He is 34 NY single and boarding. He says he was here in 1935 but he
wasn’t listed in the census then. He is a truck driver at a crate mill as is
everyone else in this house. Anyway, he is a son of Guy H. Putnam and Julia
Vesta Thomas and was born in Cortland County New York October 6, 1905 and will
die April 11, 1977 in Calhoun County Michigan. Guy is a son of John Harry
Putnam and Julia Dodge from Eckford, Calhoun County Michigan. I find Guy there
in 1900, and in Homer, Calhoun County in 1920 and 1930. Didn’t know till now
that he had ducked back into New York State in the very early 1900s. New
England family.

She is 70 IL and widowed. Lillian Sherman is the ex-wife or widow
of Henry Jasper Putnam and was with him in Concord, New Hampshire in 1910. But
then she was with Louis L. Putnam in Chicago, Illinois in 1920. Could have been
married to both and widowed in each case. Lillian was here in 1930 too.

City. Her daughter Mary M. Allen 69 NY and husband Ezra Allen 70 PA are with
her as they have been. A’Delphine Gardner is a
daughter of Peter Harris Gardner and Adeline Sweet Richardson and was born
November 17, 1851 in Tuckhannock, Wyoming County New
York and will die in Deland, Volusia County Florida September 19, 1944. She was
married to the Reverend James W. Putnam. The Reverend James W. Putnam was a son
of John Putman and Jane Hammond. John was a son of Ebenezer George Putman and
Rebecca Frey. He was born in Jefferson County New York November 6, 1843 and
died June 9, 1917 in New York City, New York and was buried in Susquehanna
County Pennsylvania. New York Dutch Family. They were married June 21, 1872 in
Clifford, Susquehanna County Pennsylvania. They were in Cortland County New
York in 1880, and New York City in 1910. A’Delphine
was in St. Petersburg, Florida widowed in 1920 and in Flushing, Queens New York
in 1930.

She is 93 NC (Yep 93) widowed as she has been since the 1890s. She
is living with her married daughter Laura Webster 65 NC and husband George
Webster 56 NJ. Julia Ann Sanders was married to Docker Shiflin
Putman in 1873 and they were in Polk County North Carolina in 1880 and she was
widowed in Ashville, Buncombe County North Carolina. I don’t know when she’ll
die here. Laura was born in October 1877 and will die here in 1942.
He is still here and is 68 GA GA GA and still single. He is a citrus grower and grows
oranges. He is a son of John Banks and Mary Ann Putman from Cherokee County
Georgia. Been here before 1920. He will die in Orange County in 1943 at age 71.

He never married and will die in Orange County in 1943, In 1930 J. W. said he

They were in Miami in 1930 and here in 1935. Alonzo Whipple Putnam is a son of
Hiram Morgan Putnam and Winnie E. Williams from Traverse County Minnesota.
Esther will die here in January 1962. Alonzo will then later marry Lucille
Eleanor Lathrop in November 1965. Alonzo was born February 19, 1894 and will
die here in Fort Lauderdale in May 1977. Lucille was born December 22, 1909 and
will die here October 7, 1999.

He is 22 NY and his wife June is 19 NY. He is
in the U.S. Navy. George Edward Putman is a son of Omer Edward Putman and Gunda Hanson and was at home with them in Forest Hills, New
York in 1930 and 1940. He enlisted in the Navy February 5, 1943 and will get
out January 18, 1946. He was born in the Bronx January 28, 1923 and will die
October 16, 2009 out on Long Island in Calverton, Suffolk County New York.

He is 59 SC. He is Marcus Clyde Putman a son of Joseph Alexander
Putman and Nancy Ellen LeMaster from Spartanburg,
South Carolina. His dad was born in Waco, North Carolina. He married Carrie
Elizabeth Thomasson August 26, 1907 and they were in Atlanta Georgia in 1910
and 1920. They were in Polk County Florida in 1930 and Carrie was widowed there
in 1935 and also in 1940 and now in 1945. She will die there September 26,
1966. Catch is that Marcus was in Greenville, South Carolina in 1935, here in
1940 and now in 1945 and will die here September 10, 1959. He keeps saying he
is married so I guess they just separated and called it quits.

Putman and Elizabeth Barnes from Norfolk Ontario. Garrett will die January 12,

Danvers, Massachusetts. His dad was a librarian at the Library of Congress for
years and Charles was born there. He and Mary were married there in 1910 and
1920 and here in 1930. She has her son Thomas S. 34 DC still with her.

married June 22, 1916. The Atkinsons are in the real estate business and
Russell is a superintendent of a building for them. He is a son of Thomas
Jefferson Putnam and Emma Frances Torrey from Danvers, Massachusetts. The
family was in Washington for a good length of time, and Russell was there with
them in the 1900 census. His dad is a Librarian at the Library of Congress
there. Thomas is a son of Thomas Jefferson Putnam and Judith Stone from
Danvers. They were here in 1920 and on. He was born January 3, 1893 and will
die here in Miami December 1, 1970. Lucille is a daughter of Robert Virgil
Atkinson and Mary Belle McKeehan and was born in
Atlanta, Georgia April 4, 1895 and will die here in Miami July 21, 1957.
CLEVELAND PUTNAM Dade County
He is
a newspaper reporter 34 MN, Georjean Bartlett his wife 34 NV and Lucy Lynn 3
NY. He is a son of Ernest Boles Putnam and Helen Louisa Van Auken.
He was born in Volusia County in 1910 and was at home there in 1920. Ernest
Boles Putnam was a son of Henry Cleveland Putnam and Jane Eliza Balcom of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Cleveland was in Lake Forest, Illinois in 1930 with and aunt and uncle James
and Sarah Hinkley.
GEORGE PUTMAN Dade County
He is
a mechanic 48 MI and his wife Augusta is 32 AL. Rand Putnam found his middle
name was Edward and he died in Alabama. I tried Ancestry and found he is a son
of Daniel Putnam and Olive May Jackson and was born in Ontario Canada July 31,
1896 and will indeed die in Camden, Wilcox County Alabama August 9, 1976. He
lists his birth here as Michigan as he has been in Detroit most of his life. He
married Marie Clark there in 1920 and they divorced there November 9, 1936. He
then married Mary Augusta Wilkerson (name of prior husband) July 11, 1940. They
will someday move to Camden, Alabama and she will die there January 6, 1969 and
George August 9, 1976. This is the Dutch Poutman gang
from Montgomery County New York that moved to Niagara County and then up to
Aylmer County Ontario Canada.
JACK H. (HILTON) PUTNAM Dade County
He is
26 SC, his wife Maralee 22 SC and they have Patsy R.
4 SC. He is a mechanic. He is a son of Archibald Creswell Putman and was born
in Greenville County South Carolina.
LLOYD R. PUTNAM Dade County
He is
some kind of instructor, but only finished 9th grade. Anyway, he is
25 NC, his wife Christine Kate English is 23 NC, Loretta Ann 7 VA, Betty J. 6
VA, and Robert Locke 4 NC. He is Robert Lloyd Putnam a son of Robert Nelson
Putnam and Bessie Burnett and was born in Madison County North Carolina January
4, 1919 and will die in Black Mountain, Buncombe County North Carolina March
23, 1972. Callie was born November 21, 1921 and will die in Buncombe County
August 11, 1959
W. F. (WEBSTER FLETCHER)
PUTNAM Dade County
He is
an officer in the U. S. Army 49 MA, his wife Ruth Cash 36 FL and there is Ella
Lee Cash 56 FL who is probably her mommy. He is a son of Webster Fletcher
Putnam and Helen Preston Meldram from Danvers. In
1920 he was stationed in Coblenz, Germany where he met and married his first
wife Nellie and had two kids over in Germany. He and Nellie were in Coral Gales
in 1930. Got divorced and he was with Ruth in Denver in 1935 and in Duval
County here in 1940. He was born December 15, 1895 in Danvers and will die on August
22, 1984 in Dade County. Ruth was born on October 27, 1908 and will die on
January 14, 1989 in Dade County.
GEORGE PUTNAM Jacksonville, Duval County
He is
54 TX and divorced. He was here in Jacksonville in 1935. He has his son Richard
17 GA who is in the Navy. This is a Dutch Poutman
then Putman family out of New York State. George was indeed born in El Paso,
Texas June 6, 1890. He was a son of George Banister Putnam and Mary Holland.
His dad died in El Paso December 12, 1889, Mary died in his childbirth in June
1890. He was taken back to his grandmother’s home in Mount Morris, Livingston
County New York. His grandmother Helen Marrs Burch was married to George
William Putman who was an engineer for the railroad and died in a train wreck
in Clay, New York in March 1865. Helen then married his brother Ellis Putnam in
1866 and they were in Mount Morris, New York in 1900 and that’s where I found
George Arthur in the 1900 census. Ellis died there March 6, 1905 and Helen died
there November 23, 1912. Anyway George Arthur married Hazel Grace Benway. He enlisted in the draft while in Rochester, New
York. In the 1920 census, Hazel was there with her father and a son Arthur 6.
By 1930 they were divorced, Hazel married another guy and he died and she and
their son Arthur were back with her folks in Rochester. Then, George married a
gal named Alice Gertrude here July 22, 1943 and they divorced here in 1944.
George will give it all up and die in Gadsden, Florida in 1947.
ISRAEL PUTMAN Jacksonville, Duval County
He is a black 84 GA.
MARJORIE D. (DYKE)
PUTNAM Jacksonville, Duval County
She is 49 VT and her son Dyke Anderson is 24 NH and in the
Army. She was married to Gordon Allen Putnam in Goffstown, Hillsborough County
New Hampshire in 1930 and they were living with her folks Herbert &
Charlotte Dyke. Gordon was a son of George Allen Putnam and Nellie Tilton from
Manchester, New Hampshire. Dyke was born July 14, 1921 and will die in
Hartford, Vermont March 8, 1988. Now, Dyke wasn’t shown in the 1930 census. There
is a marriage record that Gordon married Gladys Johnson July 17, 1920. Don’t
know what happened to that marriage, but she might be Dyke’s mom and the name
changed when adopted by Gordon. Just don’t know.

CLARENCE) PUTMAN Pensacola, Escambia
County
He is a mechanic 37 GA and he has Myrtie Stolll
37 AL who is his wife I guess. He is a son of Charles Bradford Putman and Lydia E. Thomas from
Girard, Russell County Alabama. In 1930 his folks were still in Girard and
Charles was nearby in Phoenix City married to Annie with two daughters. And
yes, he was a sheet metal worker then too. I assume he was still married there
in 1935 or in the midst of divorce. He was here in 1940 married to Joanne Jones
and he is here with the third wife in 10 years.
ARTHUR PUTNAM Tampa, Hillsborough County
He is 53 MN and single. He is Arthur Andrew Putnam a son of Arthur
C. and Jennie C. Putnam and was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota May 30, 1890. He
will die in Pinellas County Florida in April 1968. He was here in 1940 and
married to Zella H. McCall from West Virginia. Guess they divorced. He will
marry Theresa Annette Haga here in November 1961. She was born about 1918 and
died in 1970 in Tampa. She is buried with Art in the Garden of Memories Cemetery
in Tampa.

Clara Belle Duncan is now the
widow of Charles Richard Putnam who died here in 1940. She is 72 VT. Charles
was the son of George Putnam and Polly Temple, son of Gilbert (2840) Putnam and
Thankful Rogers of Stockton, New York. Charles was born October 10, 1867 while
the family was in Geneva, Ashtabula County Ohio in the 1870s. They were in
Lexington, Massachusetts in 1920 and here in 1930.

Agnes P. 6 FL. He is a son of John Samuel Putman and Laura Agnes Hux. He was born in Rocky Mount, Edgecombe County July 26,

Captain in the Army. In 1930 he and his brothers were in Lakeland, Florida
living with his grandparents Thomas and Helen Bryant. He is a son of Dudley W.
Putnam and Helen Bryant from Lake County Illinois. Dudley was a son of Abel
Adelbert Putnam and Abbie Anna Dudley from Lake County and then Chester Vermont
before that. Their folks were both in Lake County Illinois in 1920. They came
to Florida, lost their money and the father abandoned his wife Helen Bryant and
kids here. Thomas was born February 15, 1913 and will die in Bartow Florida
June 17, 1998. Vera will die there in 2011 at age 94.

He is 79 TN AL TN and a farmer. His wife Martha Frances ‘Mattie’
Lunn is 79 TN. He is a son of John Putman and Nancy Vaughan from Williamson
County Tennessee. They were in Davidson County Tennessee from 1900 until 1920
and here in 1930. They will be here the rest of their lives. James was born May
4, 1866, and will die in Orlando January 31, 1946. Southern Putmans.

He is
a son of the above Jim and Mattie Putman. He is a bus driver 52 TN and his wife
Bertha Ann Ahern is 50 MN. He was born in Davidson County Tennessee February 2,
1893 and will die in Fort Myers, Florida May 29,1977 at age 84. Bertha was born
in Grand Forbes, Minnesota March 14, 1895 and will die in Fort Myers, Florida
October 14, 1976. They were married in 1932 and never had any children. In 1940
they had a daughter Iris 17, but she was from Bertha’s first marriage.

Edward Owen is a son of John Edward Putnam and Mary Ann Harrison from Spaulding
County Georgia. He was born there October 13, 1898 and will die here in Florida
in July 1962.

Watkins from Cerro Gordo County Iowa in 1900 and Stephens County Minnesota in

currently in the U.S. Army Air Force stationed here. He enlisted January 2,
1942 back in California. He is 26 CA, his wife Mary Frances Seib
26 OH, and Lawrence H. Jr. less than a year OH. He is a son of Oswald Omer
Putman and Mary Elizabeth O’Donnell from Colusa, California. He was born there
September 5, 1919 and married Mary here in Orlando September 30, 1943. She was
born in Wooster, Ohio April 2, 1918 and will die in San Mateo, California
December 1, 1990. South Putman Family.

is 94 PA and lives in a rooming house or something. She is Wealthy Lucina
Pierce and was married to Emmet Mackress Putnam in
Corry, Erie County Pennsylvania. He was a son of Valentine Putnam from Warren
County Pennsylvania. He died there January 4, 1927. Lucina is a daughter of
Arnold Pierce and Wealthy Austin and was born in Erie County Pennsylvania
August 13, 1847 and will die back in Corry, Pennsylvania March 5, 1953 at age
105.

12 NC. He is a son of Robert Julius Putnam and Addie Jane Goodrum from
Mecklenburg County North Carolina. He was born there August 7, 1907 and will
die in Greensboro, North Carolina December 8, 1988.
COL. WALTER B. (BENNETT)

28 AR and in the Army Air Force. His wife Geneva Estelle 28 OK and they have
Joseph Bennett 4 CA and Nancy Jean 1 FL. He will be in Japan as Geneva and the
2 kids sailed from Yokohama back to Seattle on April 15, 1948. He is a son of
Walter Franklin Putnam and Ada Keers, and grandson of
George Washington Putman from Franklin County and Oregon County Missouri before
that. He was born in Franklin County Arkansas August 27, 1916 and will die in
Fort Walton Beach, Florida October 12, 2010. When he died in 2010 his wife was
Theresa Annette who he married in Okaloosa County April 14, 1993. He will go
onto become a Major General in the U. S. Air Force.

Elizabeth Vandanacker and was born in Belleview,
Jackson County Iowa September 11, 1896 and will die back there May 26, 1960.
Jacob is a son of Jacob Putman and Eliza Wicks from Montgomery County New York.
He was born in Carroll County, Illinois and was in Belleview, Iowa with his
folks in 1870 and 1880. His dad and mom returned to Carroll County Illinois in
the 1890s, but Jacob (this one) remained on the old farm in Bellevue where
Clarence and his dad were born. Dutch family out of New York State.
He is 64 NY CT NY and is a building contractor. His new wife Edith
Anderson is 49 NY. He is a son of Charles H. Putnam and Kate Mary Sargood from
Middletown, Connecticut who was a son of Charles Elliott Putnam and Jane Hayes
from there. He has been with his mother Kate in Jersey City, New Jersey in the
1900 through 1920 census. He married Marie Van Valkenburg Gifford in New York
June 21, 1905, and they were in Jersey City in 1910 and in 1920. They got
divorced here in 1941. He then married Edith in Vero Beach February 2, 1942.
Charles was born in New York December 2, 1880 and will die here in West Palm
September 8, 1963. Edith was born June 28, 1895 and will die here in June 1976.
This is a part of the English Putnam line that came out of Yorkshire England
and not Hertfordshire where the larger New England family came from.

He is now a railroad agent 45 SC, Hayne Smith his wife is 37 SC and
they have Donald 8 FL and Keith 5 FL. He is Frank Boice
Putman a son of William Butler Putman and Mattie Garrett from Greenville County
South Carolina. He was born in Laurens County January 3, 1899 and will die in
St. Petersburg September 27, 1977. He married Hayne July 4, 1928. She was born
in Woodruff, South Carolina February 27, 1908 and will die in Broward County
Florida September 30, 1994. They were in St. Petersburg in 1935 and he was a
cashier at a bank then. Southern Putman line.

79 MA CAN CAN and retired. Georgiana Allen his wife
is 78 MA. He is a son of Henry and Sarah Putnam from Prince Edward Island,
Canada. They were in Winthrop, Massachusetts from the late 1800s through 1920.
They were here in 1930.

son of Edward and Anita Putnam. Edward was a son of John W. Putnam from Canada,

Carrie Elizabeth Thomasson was here married to Marcus Clyde Putman in 1930.
Marcus Clyde Putman was a son of Joseph Alexander Putman and Nancy Ellen LeMaster from Spartanburg South Carolina. His dad was born
in Waco, North Carolina. They were in Atlanta in 1910 and 1920. Carrie is a
daughter of Robert Fleming Thomasson and Margaret Ann Phillips and was born in
York County South Carolina May 31, 1891 and will die in Tampa, Hillsborough
County Florida September 26, 1966.
CARRIE BELL PUTMAN San Antonio, Pasco County
She is 33 GA, Curtis 10 GA, Viola 8 GA and Lonnie 3 GA. She was divorced and
living with her father Marsalis McSwain in Lafayette County Florida in 1940.
Carrie Bell McSwain was married to Homer Putman. I never find them and no ideas
or leads as to Homer’s folks.

She is a nurse 52 CAN and has her mother Helen D. Flagg 71 CAN with
her. Edith is or was married to William Albert Putnam and was listed in 1940
with him up in Medford, Massachusetts. William is a son of Philip Austin Putnam
and Caroline Hodgkins Tozier
from Cambridge, Massachusetts. He enlisted or registered in the Army February
15, 1942. He won’t die till 1959, so he is probably in the Army still and she
is down here with her mommy while he is away. They had no children, so I guess
she got lonesome.
JAMES PUTNAM Clearwater, Pinellas County
He is 63 NH a fruit grower, his wife and his wife Frances Putnam is
63 NY. Also here is their son Edwin 38 NH, his wife Amelia 38 MA and their
child Marilyn 8 MA. He was a apple grower in
Lyndeborough, New Hampshire up through 1930. He is a son of Edwin Putnam and
Eliza Keys and was born there November 7, 1881 and will die there in April
1972. Frances is a daughter of Byron Putnam and Sarah Carley from Lyndeborough.
She was born in Troy, New York December 27, 1891.

wife Antoinette W. is 45 ME. He is a son of Harry Lyman Putnam and Gertrude
Mary Bass from Houlton, Aroostook County Maine. Man
that’s one end of Eastern America waaay down to the
other. They were in Louisville, Kentucky in 1920 and Waterville, Maine in 1930.

is the son of Eugene and Ann Putnam. He was 2 in 1910 living in Chicago. Can’t
find in 1920 and in 1930 they are in Wichita, Kansas where his dad is editor of
the city paper. Guess he died since then. His dad was the son of Thomas Mercer Putman
and Serena Cummings from St. Francis County, Missouri. He was in St. Louis in
1900.

is a son of Burton Hill Putnam and Flora Bowers from North East, Erie County
Pennsylvania. His folks were from Chautauqua County New York. He and Edith
Clarke were in Pittsburgh in 1910 and 1920 and here in 1930 and 1940. He
married Maude sometime in the early 1940s and they are here in 1950. New
Englanders.
LEWIS

He is 73 FL and still selling
groceries. His wife Alice L. Foster is 77 VA. He is a son of John Lewis Putnam and Florence Thompson of
Madison, Florida. He was born there July 30, 1871. This is a New England family
going back to Benjamin Putnam from Massachusetts who was in Savannah, Georgia
in the mid 1780s. His dad John Lewis died in Savannah in 1876 of yellow fever.
His widow Florence Thompson then married Henry F. Wright and they were in
Norfolk Virginia in the late 1800s and in the 1900 census. That’s where he
married Alice. They were then in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1920 and here
in 1930. Lewis will die November 11, 1966 back in Spartanburg. Alice was born
in Virginia in 1868 and will die in Spartanburg January 30. 1958.
LEWIS PUTNAM St. Petersburg, Pinellas County
He is
44 VA and in the Navy. His wife Cora Lee is 38 SC and they have Margaret 14 VA,
Barbara 12 VA, Lewis 7 FL, Alice 3 HAWAII, Gladys 2 FL. He is Lewis Dexter Jr.,
son of the above Louis. He was born in Norfolk Virginia October 13, 1901 and
will die here in Pinellas Park, Florida in March 1982. He was actually
stationed in Honolulu when it was attacked on December 7, 1941.
NELLIE PUTMAN St. Petersburg, Pinellas County
Nellie Crane is 82 MI and now the widow of Burr Kellogg Putman.
They were living with their married daughter Diana and her husband George
Rowell here in 1930. Burr was a son of Charles and Mary Putnam from Michigan.
He was born back in Syracuse, New York. Family was originally from Danvers,
Mass. He and Nellie have been in St. Joseph County Michigan in 1900 and in
Elkhart County Indiana in 1910 and 1920. He was born in 1857 and died here in
1938. Nellie was born in 1862 and will be here till she dies in 1955.

He is a shoe maker 23 MA single and boarding. He is a son of George
F. Putnam from Spencer, Worcester County Massachusetts He was home with his
divorced dad in 1930, so I don’t know who his mommy was. George was a son of
Austin George Putnam and Jane Stearne Garfield from
Spencer. Phil was born May 4, 1921 and will die out in San Francisco,
California October 18, 1976.

He is a contractor 48 NJ and Nancy Thompson Luce 44 MI. This should
be Randolph Eugene Putnam son of Charles Eugene Putnam and Lilla Taylor and was
born in Jersey City, New Jersey on August 24, 1896. Dr. Charles Eugene is the son of George
Putnam of Jordan, New York and he is the son of Cornelius Putnam of Fulton
County New York. New York Dutch family. In 1942 he registered for the draft and was
living in Queens, New York and was married to Nancy at the time. He will die
April 28, 1959 in Dunedin, Pinellas County. Nancy is a daughter of Theodore
Luce Jr. and Della Harriet Thompson. She was born October 13, 1903 in Detroit, Michigan
and will die in Pinellas County November 8, 1983.
WORCESTER PUTNAM St. Petersburg, Pinellas County
He is 61 NY NY MA and
is a public accountant. His wife Helen Armington is
61 RI and they have Charles W. 27 MA. They were in Cambridge, Massachusetts in
1920, and here in 1930 and 1835. He is a son of Bayard Taylor Putnam and Grace
Sanderson Thatcher. He was born October 17, 1883. His dad was a son of George
Haven Putnam, the book publisher from New York City. His dad died in North
Adams, Massachusetts in 1886 and his mother in Jamestown, Rhode Island in 1900.
He was born October 17, 1883, and will die here in 1957. Helen is a daughter of

Dudley Putnam and Helen Bryant from Lake County Illinois. Dudley was a son of
Abel Adelbert Putnam and Abbie Anna Dudley from Lake County and then Chester
Vermont before that. His folks were both in Lake County Illinois in 1920. They
came to Florida in the 1920s, lost their money and the father abandoned his
wife Helen Bryant and kids here. In 1930 they were here with Helen’s folks.
Dudley was born March 8, 1909 and will die here in Polk County August 22, 2003.
His wife Edith was born in July 1905 and will die here October 5, 1989.

Bright Putman, a son of Thomas Dickson Putman and Frances Adaline Jenkins from
Cleveland County North Carolina where he was born May 29, 1892. They were here
in 1930 and 1935.

County June 25, 1983. They will get divorced here in 1949. He will later marry
Yvonne Pizzi. She was born July 7, 1923 and will die
here in November 1983.

here in St. Lucie. His dad is owner of G. P. Putnam Publishing and is named for
his grandfather the founder. He married Amelia Earhart the famous aviatrix on
February 7, 1931 in Noank, Connecticut. Now back to
David. He married Nilla in Broward Florida March 5,
1934. She is a daughter of Dr. Jacob Alexander Shields and Nilla
Susan Pittman and was born in Walker County Georgia July 21, 1912 and will die
in St. Lucie June 25, 1990. They will get divorced here on July 21, 1975. David
will die here in St. Lucie June 1, 1992.
