He is
23 NY and works on a farm. Don’t know who he is or his folks. There is a
William Putman in Ashton, Lee County in 1880 who is age 33 NY and most likely
him. But still no ideas as to daddy.
DANIEL PUTNAM Warren, Jo Daviess County
He is
now 70 VT, and a retired carpenter. He was here in 1860 and is living with
William Putnam. See that listing, it's a bit confusing. Dan, as you found out
in 1860, is from Grafton, Vermont a son of Daniel Putnam and Dorcas Bone.
JOHN PUTNAM Warren, Jo Daviess County
He is
27 MA, a merchant, Eliza A. Sandor 28 ENG, Augustus (Augustus Lloyd) 4 IL,
Charles (Charles Harrison) 3 IL, Walter (Walter DeForrest)
9/12 IL. Also there is a Fred Richards 6 IL, a son of Eliza’s first marriage.
He is a son of Henry Putnam (2250) and Eliza Goodrich, and was born in
Hinsdale, Berkshire County, Massachusetts September 24, 1843. He was shown at
home there in 1850. His brother Wollcott and William
Henry Harrison were here in 1860. He married a widow Eliza A. (Sandow) Richards
here November 23, 1865. Don’t know what happens next. Elizabeth and Walter are
in Kansas City, Missouri in 1880 and I can’t find John or the other two sons in
1880. Charles and his mother Eliza are in Chicago in 1900.
LUCIA (SACIA) PUTNAM Warren, Jo Daviess County
She
is 21 NY, Ada 1 IL. She lives with Addie McDonald (her sister) 28 NY. She is Sacia A. McDonald, and married William Henry Harrison
Putnam from Mass. here December 26, 1866. It seems that he has died quite
recently. Her husband is/was NOT the next guy listed.
WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON
PUTNAM Warren, Jo Daviess County
He is
23 (28?) NY, a jeweler, Melvina Lynde his wife 22 NY, Ida 3 IL, and Naomi 4/12
IL. Also there is Daniel Putnam 70 VT,
a retired carpenter. Interesting. Daniel was here in 1860 and in 1850 was in
Otsego County, New York. He is from Grafton, Vermont and his line was given
back in 1860. Okay, here we go. This guy is NOT the William Henry Harrison here
in 1860. This is Daniel’s son listed as Morancy in
1860. Age, birthplace and occupation are identical. Morancy
married Melvina Lynde here April 21, 1867. The other William married Sacia McDonald who is shown above as widowed. Best, but
wild, guess is that after William from Mass. died around 1868, Morancy got tired of his name and took William’s name for
some reason. Everything fits, but it’s quite confusing. But then they are in
Carthage, Jasper County, Missouri and he again uses the name Morancy. So more likely the census taker screwed up on this
listing. Good luck on this one.

Hillsborough County New Hampshire in 1840 and will die in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
September 22, 1905. Alice is a daughter of Elijah Lyman Guild and Julia Ann
Talmadge and was born in Wayne, DuPage County Illinois in January 1845 and will
die in the Chicago area of Cook County December 24, 1908. They will be here in
1880. The daughter Mattie will remain single all her life and be in Chicago

He is
34 IL (the index says IRE, but it’s IL), Frances 33 IN, Rose 14 IL, Louis 3 IL,
and Elizabeth 1 IL. Then there is a Frank Putman 84 IN, who would be his
father. That entry was hard to read. I have the feeling that the father’s name
is Peter and that these folks are from Knox County, Indiana, but I am just not
certain. In 1850, Peter had a son Israel age 14 born in IL. The family went
from Knox County to Wabash County, Illinois and then returned to Knox County.
Just a reasonable guess.
CYRUS PUTNAM Amboy, Lee County
He is
44 MA, a railroad engineer. According to the IGI, he was born in Acton,

Putmans in Canajoharie, but it abuts Root, and there were a zillion there. This
is, of course, a Dutch family, and those folks used the Dad’s name as a middle
name. The L very easily stands for Lewis or Lodowyck (same name different
languages). Lewis Victor in Root, is the right age. I would guess that Jay is a
son of Lewis Junior. But just a guess. Lucy is widowed here in 1880, and from
