Charles is a son of Zachary Taylor Putman and Margaret Hines from Van Wert
County Ohio. Meredith is a son of Charles’ older brother Leroy Harrison Putman
and Goldie Ann Hileman from Van Wert County. They are all here in 1940. This is
a German family out of Pennsylvania.

Lorenzo Putnam in Cicero Illinois in 1900 and Cook County Illinois in 1910. New

County. He was married to Emma in 1880 in Whitely County and widowed there in
1900. He married Rose in 1909 and has been here ever since. Charles was born
August 20, 1850 and will die July 16, 1930. Rose King was born soon in 1881 and
will die in 1954.

The recorder probably wrote 49 with a big circular 9. She is a daughter of
Douglas Perkins Putnam and Jennie Williamson and was with her mother in
Logansport, Cass County in 1910 and 1920.

CAN. His wife Agnes Mees is 34 KS and they have Mary A. 9 OH, Gerald F. 6 OH,
Loretta 5 IN and twins Robert E. and Richard H. 2 IN. Her brother Frank Mees 26
KS is with them. Edward is a son of Charles Eleazer Putnam and Stella LaLonde
from Lapeer County Michigan and then Alcona County Michigan where Edward was
born. According to his WWI draft registration, he was born in Black River,
Alcona County May 9, 1896. His WWII registration in 1942 has him and Agnes
living here at 2930 Oliver Street and working for Fruehauf Trailer Trucking.
Agnes is a daughter of Henry and Louisa Mees, and was born in Jackson County
Kansas in October 1895 and will die in 1964. Edward will die in Geneva, Florida
January 15, 1981. His dad Charles was a son of Sidney Putnam from Lapeer County
and grandson of Eleazer Putnam from Augusta, New York and Massachusetts before
that. The son Robert Edward will die in 1940 of rheumatic Fever. The son
Richard Henry will marry Dolores Jordan. She was born December 4, 1929 in Fort
Wayne and will die December 26, 2009 in Lake. George, Coldwater, Branch County
Michigan. Richard will die there September 27, 2004. New England family.

has been here since the 1900. George and Allie are here in 1940.German family
from Pennsylvania.

here. Clyde is 49 IL, Anna Virginia Jones 49 IL, Charles 24 IN and Walter 23
IN. He was born November 17, 1880 and will die in Batesville, Ripley County
March 27, 1938. He was married here in 1910.
ROY L. PUTMAN Lawrenceburg, Dearborn County
He is
27 IN, his wife Alma Jean Weber 22 IN and they have Betty Jean 4 IN. He is a lineman
for Western Union. Also here is Alma’s brother Floyd Weber 25 IN. He is a son
of Avery G. Putman and Susan P. Linsdale from
Indianapolis. Southern Putman Family out of Virginia through Kentucky to here.

1885 and was with his widowed dad in McLean County in 1900 and Livingston
County in 1910. His dad was from Fitchburg, Massachusetts. He will die right
here March 7, 1966.

divorced later this year. He will be here in 1940 with a new wife Elvada and a daughter born in 1933. Mabel will marry Clyde
Anthony and have a son in 1932.

from Van Wert County Ohio. He was single there in 1910 and married here in

will die here December 8, 1955. This is a German family out of Somerset County
Pennsylvania.

1900 and 1910 and married here in 1920 illbilii19. This is a German family out
of Somerset County Pennsylvania.

MIKE PUTMAN Owensville, Gibson County

IN US US, his wife Emma Smith is 59 IN GER SCOT, and
her brother William Smith 72 IN GER SCOT is still with them. Mike is a day
laborer. They were all in Mt. Carmel, Illinois in 1910 and1920 and here in
Owensville in 1900. Rand
found a death certificate that he was born in Spencer County Indiana, which
would make him a son of John Putman and Lavinia Jane North or Morris Putman and
Nancy Jane Hunter both from Kentucky where I guess he was born. Working on it. Find
a grave has him being born in 1871 and died in Mount Carmel, Wabash County in
1938 and buried there.

CHARLES PUTMAN Rensselaer, Jasper County

has Oscar 17 IN (OK), Sidney 16 IN (KS) and Forest 13 IN (KS). These were by
his first wife Dora Ellen Alexander who he married about 1912 in Oklahoma. She
died in 1919 in Wann, Oklahoma. He married Ethel here
November 24, 1920. Then with Ethel he has Edward 8 IN and Lecta
L. 7/12 IN. He is a son of the following Edward and Mary Alice Putman. He was
home here with his folks in 1900 and I don’t find him in 1910. In 1920 he is
widowed in Nowata County Oklahoma with the first 3 kids. I have put their
actual birthplaces in parentheses. Charles Morgan Putnam was born in Indiana
October 22, 1887 and will die March 1, 1983 here in Rensselaer. His first wife
Dora was also from Indiana. Now, Sidney is also listed in Lake County with
kinfolk.

was here married to Mary Alice Steward in 1920 and she died July 22, 1923. He
is a son of Aaron Jefferson Putman and Caroline Relyea from Allen and then
Newton County Indiana. New York Dutch family.

Jennie E. Wilson was here from 1900 to 1920 with her husband William Eugene
Putnam from Wells, Michigan. William Eugene Putnam was born May 25, 1861 in
Goodrich, Michigan. He graduated Rush Medical College in Chicago in 1899 and he
became a doctor and started his own practice in Whiting in 1897. He married
Jennie E. Wilson here and they were here in 1900 through the 1920 census. He
died here November 19, 1923. Jennie was widowed here in 1930 and 1940 with
their three kids who were never married.

his wife is 61 IN. Southern Putman Family. He is a son of Henry Putman and Mary
Frances Alte. He was born in Fayette County. They have been here a while now.
He is 32 IL OH IL. His wife Nellie is 28 IL and they have Douglas 10 MI. He manages a car dealership in town. He is a son of Charles Marsh Putnam and Anna McDonald from Champaign County Illinois. The dad was originally from Licking County Ohio. They were in Gary Indiana just married in 1920, but must have gone up to Michigan right afterwards. Doug was born April 15, 1897 in Dewey, Champaign County Illinois and will die in Michigan in January 1964. Nellie is a daughter of Leonard Mitchell and Mary Eva ‘Maddie’ Swartzwalter and was born in Sydney, Champaign County April 11, 1901 and will die September 14, 1989 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They are there in Grand Rapids in 1940. This line actually goes back to General Israel Putnam from Connecticut.

Dorothy Catherine Sapp 20 IN and their son William 6/12 IN. Then there are his
married daughter Mary Rosalyn 19 IN, her husband William J. Spillman 21 IN and
their daughter Mary Jo 1 IA. Must be a big house, and he only rents. He is a
son of James Perley and Maggie Putnam from here in Indianapolis. Dad is from Vermont, they were here in 1900. His widowed mother is still
here in town.

will be here until he dies January 23, 1940. His son Russell is currently a
college professor in Cleveland. James will die and in 1940 Eleanor is still
here as is her mother Mary who will be 93 then and doing just fine.

now 72 IN and is still living with her daughter Perley and husband Fred Schoettle. Maggie Ulrich is the widow of James Perley
Putnam from Vermont and was here in 1900, and widowed from 1910 on.

41 IN US US and has been married a year to Naoma Mary Bohm 21 IN. He is a hotel decorator. He is a son
of Hezekiah Putman and his first wife Laura Stiver who died in 1892 from Miami
County. Roy was born in Tipton, Indiana November 3, 1889 and will die January
12, 1958. He was home there in 1900 and single in Wabash County in 1920. Naoma was born in Greenfield, Hancock County Indiana April
12, 1908 and will die here in Indianapolis September 14, 1955. German family
out of Maryland.

1900 and was married in Danville, Vermilion County Illinois in 1920. He will
die here in 1939. He is a son of William Tasker Putnam and Lillie Estavilla McGahan from Maine and
Massachusetts before that. The son William Earl Jr. was born August 1, 1913 and
will die here May 12, 1971. He will marry Bessie F. Taylor. She was born April
23, 1914 and will also die here February 10, 2009.

36 IN and they have Glenn 15 IN. He is a son of Sylvester and Sarah Putnam from
Dubois County. He was married here in 1920. His dad was from Illinois and his
grandfather from New Hampshire.

here is Lucy’s dad, Charles Doty 83 IL. He is a son of Michael Putman and

and Justina Batson. as shown in 1900 in Geneva, Van Buren County Michigan. In
1910 they were in Joliet, Illinois and then were here in 1920. Mary is his
second wife.

His wife Blanche Belle Blaylock is 46 MI and they have Irene 5 MI. He is a son
of Adrian Alonzo Putnam and Alantah Rose Miller from
Tuscola County. He was home there in 1880, and single in Saginaw in 1900. He
was married in Pontiac, Michigan in 1910 and in Detroit in 1920. Been working
on autos for a long time it seems. They are here in 1940 too. Family was
originally out of Vermont.

June 27, 1900. They were here in 1920. She will die in 1936 and he will have a
new wife Elizabeth in 1940 and then die here himself in 1942. New England

Daniel Putman and Minnie Frances Carnithan from
McLean County Kentucky in 1900. Daniel was originally from Ohio before going to
Kentucky. Dutch family originally from New York.

Calloway Putman and Lillian DeWitt from Fulton County Illinois. He was there
with his folks in 1920 and he and Mary will be back in Cuba, Fulton County by

next. Both guys are sons of Thomas Putman and his first wife Nancy White from
Shawnee, Gallatin County Illinois. Jesse was first married to Lucy Rogers and
after she died he married Rosie Lin Lester October 2, 1924. Southern Putman
family that descends from Laban Putman from South Carolina and then Kentucky
and Illinois.

and Walter E. 3 IN. Couple of brothers marrying a couple of sisters. Walter was
first married Susan Ledbetter. He married Nannie October 24, 1922. Little aside
here. These guys descend from Laban Putman who was a brother of my g g grandfather Daniel. Daniel married Prudence Skelton in
South Carolina and in 1805 moved to Kentucky and then to Indiana in about 1812.
Daniel was a Judge and helped form Warrick County out of Knox County in 1815.
Several other Skelton families went here with him. Skelton Township is named
after Zachariah Skelton, and a generation or two later, a descendent of his,
Red Skelton the comedian, was born here.

IN IN IN and a concrete worker. Mabel his wife is 32 IN and they have Eda 9 IN,
Robert 6 IN, Betty 4 IN. They were in Jefferson in 1920 near his folks. Guy was
born November 8, 1897, and will die in Columbia City, Whitely County
February 3, 1974. Mabel was born April 25, 1897 and will die in Columbia City
July 27, 1984. They are here in 1940.

is 30 IN and they have Marjorie 4 IN. He is a son of Perry Putman here and was
home with him in 1920 and then got married in 1921. Southern Putmans.

son of Charles and Emma Putman and was born here. His mom died and his dad has
remarried and has been up in Fort Wayne for about 20 years. Perry was born here
in Jefferson Township July 20, 1871 and will die here in Whitley County October
26, 1952. Effie was born here in Jefferson Township November 3, 1874 and will
die right here July 29, 1954. They were married here March 26, 1891 Southern
Putman family from Fayette County and Kentucky and Virginia before that.

Margaret in Fort Wayne December 25, 1919. They were there in 1920 and have been
here ever since. This is a German family out of Somerset County Pennsylvania.

LaLonde from Lapeer County Michigan and then Alcona County Michigan where
Edward was born. According to his WWI draft registration, he was born in Black
River, Alcona County May 9, 1896. His WWII registration in 1942 has him and
Agnes living here at 2930 Oliver Street and working for Fruehauf Trailer
Trucking. Agnes is a daughter of Henry and Louisa Mees, and was born in Jackson
County Kansas in October 1895 and will die in 1964. Edward will die in Geneva,
Florida January 15, 1981. His dad Charles was a son of Sidney Putnam from
Lapeer County and grandson of Eleazer Putnam from Augusta, New York and
Massachusetts before that. The son Robert Edward will die in 1940 of rheumatic
Fever. The son Richard Henry will marry Dolores Jordan. She was born December
4, 1929 in Fort Wayne and will die December 26, 2009 in Lake. George,
Coldwater, Branch County Michigan. Richard will die there September 27, 2004.

Lillian is a daughter of Charles Wesley Schuler and Eva Nellie Holden and was
born in Fort Wayne August 2, 1911 and will die in Live Oak, Suwannee County Florida

51 OH and married. I guess this is Norman Putman’s wife Sina.
They were here in 1930 and since he works on highway construction, probably
away from home. Also she used the Mrs., so would be
the wife of N. B. Putman. German folks out of Van Wert Ohio.

contractor on the state roads for the W.P.A. His wife Susan Gertrude Williams
is 54 TN and the kids are now gone. He is a son of Solomon Putman and Mary
Delilah Brubaker from Van Wert County Ohio. He was born January 31, 1883 and
will die in Miami, Florida October 24, 1952. Sue was born April 30, 1885 in
Tennessee and will die back here in Fort Wayne May 21, 1970. They were there in
1910 and in Paulding County Ohio in 1920 and then here in 1930. German family out
of Pennsylvania.

and Susan Putman from Dublin, Mercer County Ohio, and Pennsylvania before that.
They were in Adams County Indiana in 1880. George and Allie have been here
since they were married June 20, 1895. George will die here in 1962 and Allie

GRANT PUTNAM Logansport, Cass County

for a lumber company. They have been in Akron, Ohio with his widowed mother.
John Grant Putnam is a son of Jonathan Arnold Putnam and Frances Alice Carson
from Gilmer County West Virginia and Fauquier County Virginia before that.
Grant was born in Gilmer County June 4, 1912, and was there with his folks in
1920. They are in
Springfield, Ohio
in 1930. Jonathan died there April 1, 1936 and is buried in Akron, Ohio. Frances will die in 1957 and
also be buried in Akron.
Grant and Mary were in Akron in 1935 and I assume his mom was there too. He will join the US Army in
WWII and die in Italy October 24. 1944. They are Southern Putmans, although this particular line has
always been spelled Putnam, which was the way it was spelled back in England.

Virginia Lee 9 IN. He is a son of Avery G. Putman and Susan P. Linsdale from Indianapolis. He is still an operator for

1900 and Livingston County in 1910. They were here in 1930. His dad was from
Fitchburg, Massachusetts. He will die here March 7, 1966.

Illinois in 1910 and in South Bend, St. Joseph County in 1920 and here in 1930.
Albert was the son of Eber and Jennette Putnam as shown in 1900 in Geneva, Van

Ray 23 IN. Howard Dwight Putman is a son of Timothy Putman and Lillian Crist
from here. He was born here in Elkhart February 25, 1922 and will die in
Goshen, Indiana Friday April 13, 2011. He will marry Margie V. Berkley on
October 11, 1942. He will be a pilot in WWII and then will own C&P Oil
Company. Margie was alive when he died. I have it that Lillian also married or

Scott Putman and Minerva Ann Alspaugh from Van Wert

George W. Logan and Ruth Hannah Williams. This is a German family out of

married to William Putnam. She wasn’t in the 1910. She was here with two kids
in 1920 and by herself in 1930. Also in 1930, her son Truman was with his
father William Putnam in Pomona California. William is a son of Joseph Squire
Putnam and Alice Stoops from Wabash County Indiana. The Putnam part is from Lyndeborough,

1930. They are part of the German Family from Pennsylvania then Van Wert County

CHARLES PUTMAN Rensselaer, Jasper County

52 IN IN IN and drives an ice truck. His second wife Ethel Hill is 37 IN. His
first wife Dora Ellen Alexander, who he married about 1912 in Oklahoma, died in
1919 in Wann, Oklahoma. He married Ethel here
November 24, 1920. And with Ethel he has Edward 18 IN and Lecta
Louise 10 IN. He is a son of the Edward Miller Putman and Mary Alice Steward
from here. His widowed dad is in Newton County now and was there in 1920 and
1930 as well. He was home here with his folks in 1900 and I don’t find him in
1910. In 1920 he is widowed in Nowata County Oklahoma with the first 3 kids.
Charles Morgan Putnam was born in Indiana October 22, 1887 and will die March
1, 1983 here in Rensselaer. His first wife Dora was also from Indiana. Dutch

Forest Edgar Putman 24 IN, his wife Florence E. Woodward 24 IN and they have
Richard 1 IN. He is a son of Charles Morgan Putman and his first wife Dora
Alexander. He was actually born in Caney, Montgomery County Kansas May 12, 1916
and will die here in Rensselaer November 5, 1994. New York Dutch line.
OSCAR PUTMAN Rensselaer, Jasper County

28 OK and his wife Ellen Shields is 24 IN. They live with her widowed mother
Mary Ann Shields 72 IN. He is a laborer in a milk bottling plant. He is a son
of Charles Putman and his first wife Dora Alexander. His dad is from here and
is here in town now. The family was in Hickory, Oklahoma in the 1911-1922 time range. Dutch family from New York State

MARTHA PUTMAN Franklin Township, Johnson County
She is
17 IN and single. She is an inmate in the Masonic Home for the Aged. Strange though
everyone on the page is under 20 so maybe there is an orphanage section in the
home. In 1930 and 1935 she was at home with her folks Oscar Putman and Bertha
Buchanan in Evansville, Vanderburgh County. Dutch family.

57 IN, his wife Nora Alice Wagner is 59 IN. He is a motorman in a coal mine.
They have been married since the 1910 census. He is a son of Sylvester Putnam
and Sarah Potts from Du Bois County in 1900. He was born there August 17, 1882.
Alice is a daughter of William Thomas Waggoneer and Mary Jane Hawkins. She was
born June 19, 1880 and will die about 1975. New Hampshire Putnam line.
ANGUS L. (LOCHIEL) PUTNAM Cedar Creek Township, Lake County
He is
44 WI and his wife Chloe Lillian Sherman is 42 IL. He is a foreman at Atlas
Cement Company. Angus is a son of Edwin W. and Mary Putnam. Edwin is a son of
Sereno James Monroe Putnam from Rock County and New York before that and a
grandson of Malachi Putnam and Sarah Blount from Lowville, New York. He was
born June 19, 1895 in Janesville, Rock County Wisconsin. He was with the family
in Chicago in 1910 and 1920. He will be in Lowell, Indiana when he registers
for the draft in 1942. He married Chloe in Cook County Illinois November 16,
1933. Angus will die in Lowell, Indiana in August 1969. Chloe will die February
22, 1954 back in Cook County, or at least be buried there. New England line out
of Massachusetts originally.
ARTHUR PUTNAM Gary, Lake County
He is
50 WI and his wife Hazel Lela May 32 IL and they have Ruth Clare 6/12 IN. He is
a maintenance man in a hosiery company. Arthur Leland Putnam is a son of Harper
Isaac Putnam and Emma Smith from Chippewa County Wisconsin. He was born there
December 30, 1890 and was there through 1930 and then here in 1935 with Hazel.
Harper’s folks were John and Catherine Putnam from New York and then in Dane
County Wisconsin by 1850. I don’t know whom John is related to. Probably a New
Englander, but not certain. Arthur will die in Arkansas in July 1953 and be
buried back Waupun, Wisconsin.
EDITH PUTMAN Gary, Lake County
She is
70 IN and widowed. Her unmarried sister Mattie Cook 68 IN is living with her.
Says she was here in 1935. She is Edith Elizabeth Cook and was married to
George B. Putman in Danville, Vermilion County Illinois July 14, 1887. They
were there in 1900 and 1910 and I haven’t seen them since. Southern Putman
family from Kentucky.
ELLA PUTNAM Gary, Lake County
She is
84 IN widowed and listed as a grandmother of Warren Austin 43 IL, his wife
Isabel (Darding) Austin 33 IL and a bunch of
relatives all different names. Both sides of the family came out of Vermillion
County Illinois in the 1800s. Malinda Ellen ‘Ella’Reitzel
was married to Campbell Putman in Vermillion County Illinois in 1900 till he
died there in 1929. He was a son of Thomas J. Putnam and Mary Cedars. Southern
Putmans from the Carolinas to Kentucky to here.

EDWARD A. (ALLEN) PUTNAM Hammond North, Lake County
He is
65 IA and boarding. He says he is married but Hettie Spare his wife isn’t here.
Probably away on business here. He works in a sewer disposal plant. He is a son
of Henry Harold Putnam and Elvira Ann Stanclift and
was born in Delaware, Delaware County Iowa October 12, 1874 and has been there
ever since and will die there January 7, 1947. Hettie was also born there in
Delaware County August 1, 1881 and will die June 3, 1968. New England family
from Oneida County New York and Hartford and Windsor Connecticut before that.
She is
74 Wales and still widowed. Her kids still at home and single are Elizabeth 51
WI, Irene 50 MI and Howard Eugene Putnam 49 IN. Jennie E. Wilson was here from
1900 to 1920 with her husband William Eugene Putnam from Michigan. He first
appears in 1870 in Thomaston, Saginaw County Michigan living with George and
Jane Wallace. He was then here in South Bend, Indiana in 1880. He says both his
folks were from New York then. Just canմ figure who they were yet. William
Eugene Putnam was born May 25, 1861 in Goodrich, Michigan. H’t
graduated Rush Medical College in Chicago in 1899 and he became a doctor and
started his own practice in Whiting in 1897. He married Jennie E. Wilson here
and they were here in 1900 through the 1920 census. He died here November 19,
1923. Jennie was widowed here in 1930.
ROBERT PUTNAM Michigan City, La Porte County

JOHN R. (ROBERT) PUTNAM Decatur, Marion County
He is 32
GA, his wife Gladys Skidmore 25 KY and they have a son Gene 7 KY. He is a son
of Samuel Love Putnam and Ida Blackwell from Gordon County Georgia. He was born
February 27,
1908 and will die in Sacramento, California September 5, 1964. He was with his
dad in Harlan, Kentucky in 1930 and married Gladys Skidmore later that year. She
was born December 25, 1914 and will die in Sacramento July 11, 1985. I
think this may be a Southern Putman Family, but one source thinks the first one
in the area came from Massachusetts, so may be connected to Hosea Putnam who
was born in Georgia but his folks were from someplace up north, we think.
Nothing sure about this family line yet.
He is 71 IN IN IN and is a stage hand at a local theater. Susie Linsdale his wife is also 71 IN. Southern Putman Family. He is a son of Henry Putman and Mary Frances Alte. He was born in Fayette County in April 1869. He is in Indianapolis by 1900. He will die here September 17, 1947. He married Susan P. Linsdale in Rush County November 25, 1891. She was born in Indiana in December 1869 and will die in Indianapolis August 30, 1954.
ELEANOR B. (BOSTON) PUTNAM Indianapolis, Marion County
She is 68 IL and now widowed. Also still here is her mother Mary M. Boston who is now 93 IL. Eleanor Boston has been married to James William Putnam. He was a son of Daniel Webster Putman from Brown County Illinois. They are part of the Southern Putman Branch. He became the President of Butler University in 1934. He was right up till he died 2 months ago on January 23, 1940.

He married Lacy in 1909. She is a daughter of George B. Brewer and Lacy Gebhardt and was born in Danville, Vermillion County Illinois April 8, 1890 and will die here in Indianapolis January 9, 1957. She is 54 IN single and lodging. She is a librarian at the newspaper. Says she was here in 1935 same house. Can’t find her in 1930 though.

85 IA and widowed. He has been here since the early 1900s and had been married
to Ida here in 1910 through 1930, and she died here in 1932. I have yet to
figure out who he is. His birthplace bounces between Illinois and Iowa. He is
currently listed as a step-grandfather of Lottie Maines 34 IN for what that’s
worth.

Bohn and Lottie Grace Leisinger and was born in
Hancock County Indiana April 12, 1908 and will die in Indianapolis September

in 1986. She is a daughter of William Sapp and Clara Neihouse.

and will die September 26, 1976. Warren will die September 3, 1961. His dad was
from Illinois and his grandfather was from New Hampshire.
ALFRED R. (ROSCOE) PUTNAM Valparaiso, Porter County

63 OH and his wife Lucy Elizabeth Doty is 59 IL. He is a sanitary engineer. He
is a son of Michael Putman and Melissa Inman and was born in Sandusky, Ohio
February 11, 1877 and has been living here in Porter County since about 1905.
Lucy was born in Illinois December 1, 1880 and will die here in June 1973.
Alfred will die in Valparaiso July 28, 1941. This is the German Buttman then Putman family from Somerset County
Pennsylvania and then Ohio.

55 IN single and living with his married sister Gertrude 56 IN and her husband
Charles A. Woodward 61 IN. He is a bricklayer for a building company. Guy is a
son of James Lewis Putnam and his first wife Annie Allender. James has been in
McCracken County Kentucky since the 1890s and there till he died in 1936. He
was on his third wife then. Guy was born in Mount Vernon September 16, 1885. He
will die here in Mount Vernon April 24, 1968.
OTTILLIA R. PUTTMAN Batesville, Ripley County
She is
81 GERMANY and widowed. She is listed as mother-in-law of John Hillenbrand and
his wife, Clara 58 OH. Ottillia Enneking
was married to John Joseph Puttmann in New Point,
Decatur County in 1920. Clara was by John’s first wife Hester and so is her
stepdaughter. The family came over from Germany in the 1850s.
PATRICIA PUTMAN Center Township, Starke County
She is 24
IL and lives with her mom Elizabeth Shilling 44 IN and her husband Elmer
Shilling 52 IN. They were in Chicago in 1935. She is a daughter of Aaron Ray
Putnam and Elizabeth Scriven and was born in Livingston County Illinois. She
was with her widowed mother Betty and her mother Charity Fugate in Scotts Bluff
County Nebraska in 1920. She was in Chicago in 1930 with her grandmother
Charity Fugate and her re-married Mother Elizabeth. She is also listed now in
Chicago where she works.
CHARLEY PUTMAN Steuben Township, Steuben County
He is
72 IN single and says he lives in the same house as he did in 1935. He is a
perfect fit age wise for Charley Michael Putman. He was in Warwick County
Indiana in 1900 then in New Madrid County Missouri till he died in 1939. But
maybe he just ducked out on his wife Anna Davis and came back home to die.

58 MI NY MI. Mary E. Burton his wife is 57 MI and they have Burton A. (Albert)
19 IN. He is manager of a retail furniture store. He is the son of Eber Lewis
Putnam and Justina Batson as shown in
1900 in Geneva, Van Buren County Michigan. Mary is his second wife. In 1910 he
was married to Gertrude Reid who died in Joliet, Illinois and then he and Mary were
here in 1920 and 1930.

factory. His wife Blanche Belle Blaylock is 56 MI and they have Irene 15 MI. He
is a son of Adrian Alonzo Putnam and Alantah ‘Anna’ Rose

1900. He was married in Pontiac, Michigan in 1910, in Detroit in 1920 and here
in 1930. Been working on autos for a long time it seems. Family was originally
out of Vermont.

IN. Chester is a son of Daniel Kindred Putnam and Minnie Carnithan
and was born in McLean County Kentucky. He was there with his folks till his
dad died March 14, 1931 and they came here about 1937. His brothers Forrest and
Everett came over too. He and his son William and brother Everett are all
carpenters for a building contractor.
Daniel
Clifton Putnam is 38 KY and a laborer for the W.P.A., his wife Grace M. Allen
is 35 KY, and they have Jesse Clifton 14 KY, Minnie Lou 11 KY, James Wallace 8
KY, Herman Lee 6 KY and Bobby Joe 1 IN. Ah yes, yet another son of Daniel and
Minnie who all came over from McLean County Kentucky in 1935.
He is a
carpenter for a building contractor and is 32 KY, his wife Zula M. Bowman 29 KY
and they have George 8 KY, Arthur 6 KY, Billy R. 4 KY, Viola 2 IN and Everett 1
KY. His widowed mother Minnie 65 KY is with them. Everett Gilbert is a son of
Daniel Kindred Putnam and Minnie Carnithan and was born
in McLean County Kentucky. He was there with his folks till his dad died March
14, 1931 and they came here about 1937. His brothers Forrest and Chester came
over too. Now I am sure that Daniel’s folks were Abner and Emily Putnam and
they were all in Higginsport, Brown County Ohio in
the 1860 census. Bigger problem is I haven’t the foggiest who Abner was. He was
born in Virginia in 1810 and not one of our gang.
JESS PUTNAM Evansville, Vanderburgh County
He is
49 IL, his wife Rosa Lester 38 KY and they have Rosa Maxine 2 IN. Jesse Putnam
is a son of Thomas Barnet Putman and his second wife Lavinia Sensibaugh. He was
born in Shawnee, Gallatin County Illinois December 16,1890. He married first, Lucy Rodgers. After
her death, he married Rosie Lin Lester on October 2, 1924. He will die May 16,
1963. Rosie was born April 11, 1902 and will die July 24, 1997. They will have
2 more daughters in the next five years. Southern Putmans from South Carolina
to Kentucky to Illinois.
ROBERT PUTNAM Evansville, Vanderburgh County
He is 26 IN and his wife Virginia Christman 26 KY. Robert Carl Putnam is a son of Rufus Pitt Putnam and Nora Mills from here. He was born here April 28, 1913 and will die in March 1986 in St. Louis, Missouri. He works for an automobile company.
He is assistant business manager for the city school system. He is 33 IN, his wife Alta Mae Goad 35 IN and they have Colleen A. 6 IN and Gerald W. 3 IN. He is a son of Rufus Putnam and his first wife Nora Mills and was born in Posey County January 2, 1907 and has been here in Evansville since 1911. He will die in La Jolla, California in July 1973 and be returned here for burial. He married Alta here March 8, 1929. She is a daughter of William Walker Goad and Sarah Elizabeth Hayhurst and was born here February 19, 1905. She will die here in Evansville October 12, 2000. Found a couple of newspaper articles. He graduated with a PhD in Education from Columbia University. He was studying there when he joined the Navy as a lieutenant in 1943 and graduated after the War was over. He moved to Yonkers, New York and later returned to Evansville and was important in the Evansville school system. He then moved to Minneapolis to head their school system from 1953 till he retired in 1966.

is Margaret Ann Van Dusen 19 IN from Elizabeth’s
first marriage. Rufus had married Nora Mills in Posey County June 27, 1900 and
was here with her until she died here June 28, 1934. He is a bricklayer for the
public schools. Rufus is a son of Adrian Putnam from Meade County Kentucky. He
was with his folks in 1880 and in Posey County in 1900 and 1910. He and Nora
were here in 1920 and 1930. Rufus will die here himself in 1942. New England
family, Massachusetts to Lexington, Kentucky.
He is 55 IL IL IL and is a concrete mixer for a street construction company of the W.P.A. His wife Nannie Lester is 41 KY and they have Marjorie 15 IN, Walter E. 13 IN and Paul 10 IN. Walter was first married Susan Ledbetter. He married Nannie October 24, 1922. He descends from Laban Putman who was a brother of my gggrandfather Daniel. Daniel married Prudence Skelton in South Carolina and in 1805 moved to Kentucky and then to Indiana in about 1812. Walter was born April 16, 1881 and will die October 29, 1963. Southern family of course.
PAULINE PUTMAN Terre Haute, Vigo County
She is 36 TX single and living with John and Mary Katchman from Indiana. Pauline was in Pennsylvania along
with the Katchman’s daughter Bernice in 1935. No clue
why they were there. They are sales ladies. Anyway, Pauline is a daughter of
Luther Allen Putnam and Florence Brewster from St. Clair County Alabama. She
was born in Texas and with them in Palo Pinto County in 1910 and in Tarrant
County in 1920. I don’t find them in 1930 but her dad will die in Oklahoma
City, Oklahoma April 4, 1949. Luther is a son of Joel Allen Putnam and Matilda
Ann Sansom from St. Clair. Southern Putman Family from Laurens County South

farmer 57 IN IN IN. Maud Glazier his wife is 52 IN and Martha 21 IN. There is a
nephew here Robert R. Chaney 12 CA. Edward is a son of Joseph Squire Putnam and
Alice Eldora Stoops from Wabash. They were in Noble Township in 1910 and Wabash
Township in 1920 then Waltz Township in 1930. He was born November 21, 1882 and
will die here March 14, 1953. Maud was born February 11, 1888 and will die here
November 9, 1946.
He is Solon Guy Putman son of Perry Alfred Putman and Effie Adelia Smith from here in Whitley County. He is now 42 IN IN IN and a concrete worker. Mabel Graves his wife is 42 IN and they have Edith 19 IN, Robert 16 IN, Betty 14 IN and Helen 8 IN. They were in Jefferson in 1920 near his folks and here in 1930. Guy was born November 8, 1897, and will die in Columbia City, Whitely County February 3, 1974. Mabel was born April 25, 1897 and will die in Columbia City July 27, 1984. CHARLES PUTMAN Jefferson Township, Whitley County
He is 23 IN and his wife Ida Mae 18 IN. He is a son of Joseph Larry Putman and Goldie Sellers. He was born here September 18, 1916 and will die in Decatur, Adams County March 29, 1994. They are living with his folks. He is a parts salesman for International Harvester.
Joseph Larry Putman is 46 IN, his wife Goldie Sellers is 41 IN and they now have Ted 19 IN and Gerald 16 IN still at home. He is son of Perry Alfred Putman and Effie Adelia Smith from here in Whitley County. Joe was born January 24, 1894 and will die July 14, 1952. Goldie was born September 18, 1898 and will die in Fort Wayne July 20, 1971. Southern Putman Family from Kentucky and Virginia before that.

was born November 24, 1900 and was home with them in 1910 and 1920 and then got
married in 1921. He and Bessie were here in 1930. She was born November 23,
1899 and will die here in Columbia City September 20, 1993. Paul will die here

Alfred Putman is a son of Charles Putman and Emma Robinett
and was born here July 20, 1871. His mom died December 25, 1897 and his dad has
married Rosa King and had been up in Fort Wayne for about 20 years. He died
there July 16, 1930 and Rosa (57 IN) is now living here with him. Perry will
die here October 26, 1952 and Effie July 29, 1954. Rosa will die here in

DAVID PUTMAN South Whitley, Whitley County
He is
now 81 IN and still widowed as his wife Melissa Jane Ginn died in 1928 back in
Fulton County. He is living here now with his daughter Velda 43 IN and her
second husband Walter Penrod 56 OH and their three kids. David is a son of
Jacob Putman and Susan Lininger from Fulton County where he was born August 12,
1858. He will die March 14, 1946. He married Melissa Jane Ginn in Fulton County
in March 1880. She was born August 16, 1861 and died June 18, 1928. She was a
daughter of Ezekiel Ginn and Sarah Nicodemus from Henry County. Velda was born
in 1896 and will also die in 1946. David is part of the German Buttman family from Pennsylvania.
