GEORGE L. (LEANDER) PUTMAN Garnett City, Anderson County
He is
a son of Leander Putnam who was here since 1860. He is 54 VT, born in May of
1845. His wife, Dorothy A. Simonds, is
60 NY, born in June of 1839. His folks
moved to Richmond, Franklin County Kansas in the early 1880s. Leander was a son
of Jacob Putnam and Polly Worth and is number 1124 in Eben
Putnam's books. He was born in Middlesex, Vermont. His first wife was Cynthia
Stone who died in 1844. He married Martha back in Vermont in 1845. He moved
here in 1856 after going to Wisconsin for two years. His widowed mother Martha
is in Franklin County now. He is married here in 1910 and widowed in 1915 here
and then he is widowed in El Dorado Springs, Missouri in 1920.
RUTH PUTMAN Lone Elm Township, Anderson County
Ruth is listed as 16 IL, born in
July of 1883, the stepdaughter of Eber Jennings 55 IL and her mother Eva
Henrietta 43 IL. Eva was in Woodson County with Ruth in 1895. Eva Henrietta
Brown was married to Christopher W. Putnam a son of Victor Putnam and Adeline
Hardy. New York Dutch folks. They were married April 12, 1882 and then split.
ELIZABETH PUTNAM Atchison City, Atchison County
She is listed as 67 CND, born in
November of 1833. The children at home
are: John 28 CND, born in December of 1872, and Carrie 23 CND, born in August
of 1877. Also in the household is a
laborer, Charles Parker, 50 IN, born in April of 1850. Elizabeth Ann Dunn is
the widow of George Young Putman from St. Catherineճ, Lincoln County Ontario.
They were all there in the 1881 Canadian Census. The family must have come down
in the later 1880s or 1890s as Elizabeth was widowed here in the State 1895
census. This is a Dutch line going back into New York State. John will be
married here in 1910.
HELEN PUTNAM Atchison City, Atchison County
She
is 65 NY and widowed as she has been since the 1860s. And she is still living
with her daughter Helen L. and her husband Benjamin F. Hudson. Helen Barker is
the second wife and widow of Lyman Putnam. Lyman was a son of Cornelius Putnam
and Bridget Nevins from Hanover, NH. She and young Helen were here in 1885 and
she was married to Ben in 1895.
WALTER PUTNAM Atchison City, Atchison County
He is 26 NY, born in June of
1874, a boarder with Peter Feheoncheid (?). No ideas
at all. Maybe not a Putnam at all.
WILLIAM P. (PETER) PUTNAM Grasshopper Township, Atchison County
The son of Victor C. Putman and
Adeline Eliza Hardy of Ogle County Illinois. Victor was a son of Peter Putman
of Orleans, Cattaraugus County. He was born there August 22, 1820 according to
a family bible. William is listed as 50 IL, born in March of 1850. His wife, Evearetta
Bridges, is 41 IL, born in March of 1859.
The children at home are: Clarence I. 16 NE, born in March of 1884,
Albert E. 9 NE, born in January of 1891, Ira R. 2 KS, born in June of 1898. Also in the household is Hugh C. Cleland 21
IRL, born in June of 1879. Dutch Family.
WILLIAM PUTNAM Great Bend City, Barton County
William Ford Putnam is listed as
46 OH, born in March 14,1854. He runs a grocery store. His wife, Ida Maria
Kenyon, is 45 NY, born in March of 1855.
The children are: Emmett 21 KS, born in March of 1879, Ernest 17 KS,
born in February of 1883, Otto 10 KS, born in October of 1889, Netta (Antoinette Belle) 7 KS, born in January of 1893,
Ruth 4 KS, born in April of 1896, and Rena 6 months KS, born in December of
1899. The son Emmett runs Putnam’s Cafe in Garden City. They were in Harvey
County in 1880 and here in Barton County in 1895. He is a son of Solomon Putnam
and Zuriah Ford. He and Ida will split soon. In 1905
she says she is widowed, but at the same time Willie is in Colorado with a wife
Maud and the just have a son Walter then. They are in Kansas City, Missouri in
1920. Ida is in Garden City, Kansas then and in 1930.
O. P. (ORLANDO PROCTOR)
PUTNAM Homestead Township, Barton County
He is listed as 56 IL, born in
January of 1844. His wife, Clara Cone,
is 46 IL, born in July of 1852. The
children at home are: LaVern (Vernon a son) 13 IL, born in August of 1886, and
Carter 12 IL, born in June of 1887. He would be Orlando Putnam son of Proctor
Putnam (#2786) and Rosilla Sargent. He was born in
Waukegan, Lake County Illinois and grew up there. They moved here in the 1890s
after his father died. He married Clara E. Cone in Warren, Illinois January 6,
1875. Clara and the two sons are in Des Moines, Iowa in 1910, and she is
widowed then. Orlando was born January 9, 1845 and died January 15, 1905
probably in Iowa. Clara was born July 11, 1853 and died February 10, 1950.
WILLIAM R. (RAY) PUTNAM Lakin Township, Barton County
William is listed as 15 KS, born
in April of 1885, the brother-in- law of William H. and Ella Obleness. Ella 22 KS is his sister and was shown at home in
1880 at age 2 KS. He is a son of William Putnam and Ida Kenyon from here. He
was at home in 1895. According to a group sheet, he will marry Nellie Agnes
Clark and they will have a son Earl in 1905. Willie will then split and wander
up to Wisconsin and be married to Anna there in 1920, and then back here in
Finney County Kansas in 1930 with a third wife Nina Cauvel.
JACOB S. PUTMAN Osage Township, Bourbon County
He is a son of William and Sarah
Foland Putnam from Jefferson County Tennessee. He is
listed as 47 TN, born in May of 1853.
His wife, Celestina Lawton, is 41 IL, born in September of 1858. The children are: Benjamin 17 MO, born in
March of 1883, Harry 13 KS, born in June of 1886, Boyd 11 KS, born in May of
1889, Sarah G. (Grace) 8 KS, born in December of 1891, Ivy 6 KS, born in March
of 1894, Dolly 3 KS, born in March of 1897, and Nora G. (Gladys) 4 months KS,
born in January of 1900. They were in Vernon County Missouri before coming to
Kansas in 1885. The family will be in Fort Scott, Bourbon County through the
1930 census. This is the Southern family that was just late comers as best I
can figure. I can only get them back to Virginia in the 1700s a hundred years
after my Thomas Putnam came there.
HERBERT PUTNAM El Dorado City, Butler County
Herbert is listed as 26 NY, born
in September of 1874. His wife, Hattie
Betts, is 23 KS, born in March of 1877.
Their son, Harold, is 3 KS, born in October of 1896. He is a son of John
Russell Putnam and Genella Lord of Madison County New
York. His folks are listed shortly. He married Harriet Betts here October 19,
1895. He will be in Long Beach, California by 1910.
J. R. (JOHN RUSSELL) PUTMAN El Dorado City, Butler County
He is listed as 52 NY, born in
September of 1847. His wife, Genella Lord, is 52 NY, born in August of 1847, Samuel 18
NY born May 1882, and Darwin 11 KS born June 1888. He is a son of Samuel Putnam (2347) and Eliza
Ann Hazard of Madison, Madison County New York. Samuel was a son of Dr. Elijah
Putnam of Madison. They were there in 1880. They will be in Arkansas in 1920
and John will be back widowed in 1930 and living with his son Darwin.
ELTON P. PUTMAN Leon City, Butler County
The son of Alfred D. Putnam and
Rebecca McLane from Wabash County Illinois. Elton is listed as 30 IL, born in
November of 1869. His wife, Georgia A.
Britain, is 25 KS, born in December of 1874.
Their daughter, Gladys P., is 6 IL, born in December of 1893. They are
here in El Dorado City in 1905 and in Colorado Springs, Colorado by 1910 and
then back here in El Dorado by 1915. They are back here in Wichita, Kansas by
1930. Elton will die here in 1942.
FREDDIE PUTNAM Falls Township, Chase County
Fred is listed as 16 MO, born
March 20, 1884, the stepson of William M. Musselman. He is a son of Henry Clay
and Mary Elizabeth Putnam from Clay County. Henry has died and Elizabeth has
remarried to William Musselman. His brother John Andrew is here as well.
JOHN A. (ANDREW) PUTNAM Falls Township, Chase County
John Andrew is listed as 19 MO,
born March 21, 1881, the stepson of William M. Musselman. See Freddie right
above. Both are sons of Henry Clay Putnam.
CLARENCE H. (CHARLES HENRY)
PUTMAN Sedan City, Chautauqua County
This really is Charles Henry,
son Jonathan Putman from New York. He is 39 IL, born in January of 1861. His wife, Hannah Lodema
Norman, is 30 MN, born in October of 1869.
Their son, Otto C., is 13 AR, was born in September of 1886. They are
all in Adair County Iowa in 1910. He uses the name Clarence then too, so not
positive what his first name is.
PEARL PUTNAM Columbus City, Cherokee County
Pearl is listed as 6 KS, born in
November of 1893, the grand daughter of John S. Hogan. She is also listed in
Neosho County with her mother Ora Hogan and her stepfather Alfred Hibbs. She
is Iva Pearl Putnam, daughter of William K. Putnam and Ora Ann Stephens. Bill
died in 1894. There is a marriage record that has them married in 1893 in
Jasper, MO. The marriage record says Bill is from Parsons, Labette County, KS.
This means Bill is the son of James Monroe Putnam and Polly Markham as shown in
1870 KS. James was a son of Ira H. Putnam. Pearl and the folks are all listed together in Neosha County in 1905 and 1910.
PIERCE PUTMAN Empire City, Cherokee County
He is a son of Abraham H. Putman
and a grandson of Elijah from Davis County Iowa. He is listed as 48 IA, born in
December of 1851. His wife Josephine
Pierce is 48 OH, born in November of 1851.
The children at home are: Iva or Ina 20 IA, born in September of 1879,
Nellie 13 NE, born in October of 1886, and Hazeal 7 AR, born in May of 1893.
They are here in 1905 and then in 1910 and 1920 they are in Jasper County
Missouri.
WILLIAM PUTNAM Galena City, Cherokee County
William is listed as 22 CO, born
in February of 1878, a lodger with D. A. McCausland. No Williams in
Colorado age 2 in 1880 or 7 in 1885
censuses. So once more maybe not a Putnam.
JOHN PUTMAN Starr Township, Cloud County
He is 19 AR born in March 1881
and living with William T. Clark. He may be a son of Reding Putman, son of
Bennett. Reding's second wife was Charlotte Clark and there may be a connection
here. Only a guess.
MARY E. (ELIZABETH) PUTNAM Arkansas City, Cowley County
Mary Elizabeth Smith is listed
as 42 TN, born in June of 1857. The
children at home are: Charles W. (Wesley) 21 IL, born in October of 1878,
Maggie S. 19 KS, born in September of 1880, Howard J. 18 KS, born in February
of 1882, Jesse J. 16 KS, born in October of 1883, Florence B. 14 KS, born in
September of 1885, and Robert B. 13 KS, born in October of 1886. I can't find
this family in 1880. She was with the kids here in 1895. I found a family sheet
that says she was married to William Boyd Putnam born in Iowa May 15, 1855 and
he died here in 1894. He was a son of James Daniel Putman and Diadema Smith
from Fulton County Illinois. Southern Putmans.
ARTHUR PUTMAN Harvey Township, Cowley County
Arthur Willard Putnam is listed
as 21 MO, born in February of 1878, a servant for George W. Tharp. He is a son
of David Putnam and Sarah Margaret Hensley. He is married to Bertha in 1905
and1910 in Butler County and then back here in 1920 and 1930.
DAVID T. (THOMAS) PUTNAM Harvey Township, Cowley County
David is listed as 41 MN, born
in June of 1858. His wife Sarah Margaret
Hensley is 41 IN, born in September of 1858.
The children are: Clarence 21 MO, born in November of 1879, Fred 17 SD,
born in March of 1883, Esther 13 SD, born in October of 1887, Elva 12 SD, born
in May of 1888, and Vernie 5 KS, she was born in July
of 1895. He is a son of Ansil Delos Putnam and was in
Mercer County Missouri in 1880. David and Sarah were married in Gainesville,
Harrison County Missouri in 1878. They were here in 1895. David is widowed here
in 1910 and has a new wife Laura by 1920. New York Dutch family.
BRUCE PUTNAM Pleasant Valley Township, Cowley County
He is listed as 13 KS, born in
October of 1886, a hired hand for Amos A. Tolles.
Robert Bruce Putnam is a son of William Boyd Putman and Mary Smith. He is also
listed with her and the family next door in Arkansas City, Cowley County.
JAMES PUTNAM Richland Township, Cowley County
James Edward Putman is listed as
32 OH, born in January of 1868. His
wife, Myrtle Everil Hicks, is 22 MO, born in July of
1877. Their son, Clarence R. (Randolph),
is 2 KS, born in February of 1898. He is a son of John S. Putman and Clarissa Duey from Ross County Ohio. He was born there September 12,
1838. He was here with his mother in 1895. His folks are now in Oklahoma. He is widowed here in 1905, and also widowed
in Elbert County Colorado in 1910 and in 1920. His dad will die in 1904 and
Clarissa in 1902 and they are both buried here in Winfield, Crowley County.
This is a German family from Maryland.
ED PUTNAM Winfield City, Cowley County
The son of John W. Putnam and
Mary Alice Fisher, Edward is listed as 30 IL, born in February of 1870. His wife Jennie Weaver is 30 IN, born in May
of 1870. Their son, Fred, is 8 KS, born
in July of 1891. The father John was
born in Indiana, and the family came out of Kentucky originally. They were in
Tazewell County Illinois in 1880. They are here in 1910.
MARAH C. PUTMAN Winfield City, Cowley County
Marah is listed as 67 NH, born
in October of 1832. Also in the
household are: her daughter Annie C. Sanford 29 MO, born in May of 1871, and
her grandson, Daniel B. Sanford, 1 GA, born in November of 1898. In 1880 she
was in Montgomery County Illinois listed as Marah Robinson 47 NH VT NH and had
a son Samuel age 11 MO PA NH and Annie 9 MO PA NH. She must have married a
Putman sometime later and was widowed a second time by 1900. She will die July
31, 1910 and be buried in Kay County Oklahoma. The tombstone says ‘Mother’ so I
guess she and Annie must have gone down there in the next 10 years.
CHARLES PUTMAN Lecompton Township, Douglas County
The son of Newton Putnam,
Charles is listed as 59 IN, born in September of 1840 in Wells County. His
wife, Sarah, is 56 OH, born in June of 1843. Their son, Delmar, is 20 KS, born
in September of 1879.
CHARLES PUTMAN Elk Falls Township, Elk County
The son of Jacob D. Putnam,
Charles F. is listed as 51 NY, born in November of 1848. His wife, Lydia E. Teague, is 47 ENG, born in
January of 1853. There are no children
listed with them.
LUTHER PUTNAM Ottawa City, Franklin County
Luther
is listed as 13 CA, born in January of 1887, the nephew of Herbert Baldwin. His
mother Ivy Adams had married Albert Baldwin before marrying his dad Charles
Putnam. She died in the 1890s and Charles widowed in 1900. Probably why Luther
was brought up here before heading West. He was here with them in 1895 and will
be in 1905. Luther Lee is a son of Charles Sumner Putnam and Ivy Adams and was
born in San Francisco, California January 11, 1887 and will die in Grass
Valley, Nevada County California October 27, 1966. Charles Putnam was born in
Danvers, Essex County Massachusetts in November 1847, was out in California by
1852 probably Gold Rush Days for his folks. Luther will marry Mattie Myra
Jackson in Los Angeles August 5, 1907. Mattie is a daughter of Duke Wellington
Jackson and Hattie Kendrick. She was born in Miner, Miner County South Dakota
August 23, 1885 and will die in San Francisco October 11, 1965. They are in San
Francisco in 1910 and then Santa Rosa, Sonoma County in 1920 and 1930 and San Francisco
in 1940 and will be after that till they pack it in. The line is Luther
L. > Charles S. > Henry L. > Joseph > Billings > Henry >
Eleazer > John > John out there in Danvers, Massachusetts.
MARTHA E. PUTNAM Richmond City, Franklin County
She
is Martha Emorette Pike, the widow of Leander Putnam
from Anderson County. Martha is listed as 74 VT, born in July of 1825. Leander
died here in Richmond March 19, 1886.
Her daughter, Hattie E., is 43 WI, born in June of 1856. Leander died
here in Richmond March 19, 1886. Leander was a son of Jacob Putnam and Polly
Worth and is number 1124 in Eben Putnam's books. He
was born in Middlesex, Vermont. His first wife was Cynthia Stone who died in
1844. He married Martha back in Vermont in 1845. He moved here in 1856 after
going to Wisconsin for two years.

1885, George E. 12 KS, born in July of 1887, Ralph E. 5 KS, born in May of
1895, and Mark L. 2 KS, born in April of 1898.

George is widowed and listed as
52 NY NY NY, born January
26, 1848. His daughter Pearl is 26 KS,
born August 28, 1873. He was here in 1880 and 1885, but Junction City was in
Davis County then. He is still widowed here in 1905 and 1910.
FRED L. PUTMAN Grant Township, Jackson County
He is a son of Charles F. Putman
and Lydia Teague from New York. They were in Graham County Kansas in 1880. Fred
is 29 IA, born in December of 1870. His
wife, Lucy E. Little, is 26 KS, born in June of 1873. Their son, Paul, is 2 months KS, born in
March of 1900. Also in the household is
a servant: Elias Elliott, 18 KS, born in November of 1881.
ALLISON J. (JAMES) PUTMAN Highland Township, Jewell County
He is
listed 50 IA, born in June of 1849. His
wife, Fannie J. Beecham, is 45 IL, born in December of 1854. The children at
home are: Mabel J. 26 NE, born in February of 1874, Thomas J. (Jacob) 24 KS,
born in April of 1876, Edna J. 22 KS, born in July of 1878, Lola A. 19 KS, born
in August of 1888, Edith M. 17 KS, born in December of 1882, Ella V. 15 KS,
born in December of 1884, Winifred N. 13 KS, born in March of 1887, James A. 8
KS, born in November of 1891, Vernon L. 5 KS, born in January of 1895, and
Lottie I. 3 KS, born in April of 1897.
Also in the household is his father, Jacob Putnam, 90 NY, born in
February of 1810. They were in Scott County IA in 1850, Benton County IA in
1870 and here since the 1880. New York Dutch.
GEORGE H. PUTNAM Olathe City, Johnson County
George H. is listed as 35 ME,
born in February of 1865. His wife,
Lillie F., is 32 PA, born in December of 1867.
Their stepdaughter Lillian G. Pretz is 11 PA,
born in October of 1888. They will be in Jacksonville, Morgan County Illinois
in 1910 and 1920 and 1930 and till they die. George is a son of George Augustus
Putnam and Fannie Maria Wells of Yarmouth, Cumberland County Maine. His dad was
a minister originally from Massachusetts.
HARVEY D. PUTNAM Peters Township, Kingman County
Harvey D. is listed as 56 NY,
born April of 1844, an employee of Frank H. Weinschenk. There is a chance he is
Harvey David Truman a son of Freeman Putnam and Esther Way, and was at home in
Luzerne County, PA in the 1850. He was married to Lucinda or Lucelia Davison in Butler County Pennsylvania in 1880.
Found a tree that shows him there but the tree says he died by 1900 when
Lucinda and her daughter Emma will be in Chautauqua County, NY in 1900. Then I
find a reference that he is in Payne County Oklahoma in 1920 at age 78 NY. So
maybe he and Lucy split up and he headed West and she back to the East. Big
problem I can’t find the Oklahoma Census for him in 1920.
HIRAM PUTMAN Rural Township, Kingman County
Hiram
is listed as 68 OH, born in September of 1831.
His wife, Mary Ann Hobbs, is 68 PA, born in February of 1836. They were here in 1895. There are no
children. He is a son of Gabriel Putman
and Susannah Weimer from Stark County Ohio and Pennsylvania before that. They
have been in Stark County up till the 1880s, and then were here in Kingman
County in 1895 through 1905. They are in Sedgwick County in 1910. Mary Ann is
widowed there in 1920.This is the German Putman family from Pennsylvania.
SARAH PUTNAM Oswego, Labette County
She
is 65 KY and lives with her daughter Georgiana McLane 32 IL and her husband
John McLane 41 IN. She was married to Henry Putnam from New York. Georgiana is
her daughter. They were in Bureau County Illinois in 1870 and here in Oswego in
1875, 1880 and 1885. Sarah was widowed here in 1895. She and the McLanes are all here in 1905.
PUTNAM KIDS Leavenworth City, Leavenworth County
These
are listed as Patnan and stepchildren of Jordan
Dunton 27 KS and Sarah Dunton 32 KS ENG IRE. They are Charles 17 KS MI KS Feb 1883, Lottie 15 KS Sep 1884, Anna 14 KS
May 1886, Sadie 12 KS Apr 1888 and Willard Putnam 10 KS Feb 1890. Also there is
Gracie Denton 10/12 KS Aug 1899. The handwriting is bad and the parents are
probably Denton. Anyway, Sarah Heatherington was married to Willard Putnam here
in Leavenworth in 1885. Willard was a barber as is Jordan. Willard must have
died and then Jordan, who probably worked in the same barber shop, and Sarah
were married in 1892. They say now they have been married 8 years which is
right on the button. Willard was a son of James Willard Putnam from Rochester,
New York who was briefly in Michigan in the early 1850s where Willard was born.
Found some info on the kids. Charles was born February 10, 1883 in Leavenworth,
and will die in Branson, Missouri in September 1979. He married Bertha
Frederick Dobler on June 6, 1906 and they are in
Leavenworth, Kansas in 1910 and Kansas City Missouri in 1920 and 1930. Bertha
was born in Kansas August 28, 1884 and will die in San Diego, California May
28, 1947Willard Wellington Putnam was born February 16, 1890 in Leavenworth,
Kansas. He was single and a teamster at that time. Sadie Jane Putnam was born
in Leavenworth April 6, 1888 and died in Eugene Oregon January 23, 1965. Sadie
married Julius Toman April 19, 1906. Charlotte Putnam was born September 6,
1884 in Kansas and died in San Diego California January 22, 1956. She married a
Tomrell.
SARAH PUTNAM Leavenworth City, Leavenworth County
The widow of Silas R. Putnam.
Sarah is listed as 65 IRL, born in August of 1834. The children at home are: May Hoagland, 35
KS, born in February of 1865, and her other daughter, Martha Putnam, 24 KS,
born in November of 1875. She is here in 1905.
SILAS A. PUTNAM Leavenworth City, Leavenworth County
The son of Silas and Sarah,
Silas is listed as 39 KS, born in September of 1870. His wife, Emma R. Courtney, is 24 PA, born in
December of 1875. Also there is their
son Silas R. 4 KS, born in October of 1895, and his sister-in-law, Maggie
Courtney, 28 MD, born in September of 1871. He is alone here in 1905 and then
married to Kittie Gardner in 1910. In 1920, he will be in San Diego California
with a third wife named Ada Gardner from Missouri. The son Silas R. will be in
Arizona in 1920.
JANE M. PUTNAM Agnes City, Lyon County
Jane M. Titus is listed as 65
PA, born in February of 1835, the mother-in- law of Frank J. Cochennet. She is the widow of Nathan Haley Putnam. They
were here in the late 1860s on. He died here August 4, 1895.
CURTIS PUTMAN Emporia Township, Lyon County
He is Curtis Palmer Putnam
listed as 37 OH, born in October of 1862.
His wife, Anna M. Walkup, is 32 VA, born in August of 1867. The children are: Mabel E. 10 KS, born in
September of 1889, and Helen 6 KS, born in October of 1893. Also in the household are two boarders:
Jennie D. Walkup, 42 VA, born in June of 1858, and Herbert Hoover, 14 KS, born
in October of 1885. Bert is a son from Anna’s first marriage. He is a son of
Henry Clay Putnam and Amanda Webster, and was born in Devil's Dam, Ohio. The
family was in Chase County Kansas in 1880. His folks are now in Oregon.
FRANK S. (SHEPHARDSON)
PUTNAM Ivy Township, Lyon County
The son of Sidney Putnam, Frank
is 46 PA born August 14, 1854 in Chester County. His wife, Laura Alma Peacock, is 41 TX born

father, Sidney Putnam, 76 NY, born in May of 1824, and his brother-in-law, Lew Rabourn, 20 KS, born in February of 1880. Sidney is a son
of Daniel Putnam and Betsy Barnet of Vermont, Buffalo, New York, Warren County
Pennsylvania and now here. This will be Sidney's last appearance, as he will
die here March 23, 1908.

next). He was born in Worcester, Mass. November 19, 1870. The family was from
Mass., went to Ohio for about 20 years, briefly returned to Worcester where
Ernest was born and then came out here in 1878. He married Emily here August
20, 1895.

Harrison Kimball Putnam is
listed as 77 (should be 70) MA, born March 1830, the father-in-law of Irvin
Uplinger. His daughter Helen Elizabeth had married Irving as his second wife in
December 1895. He was in Ellsworth County Kansas earlier. See 1880 for who he
is. He is also listed with his son Walter a couple of listings down. In 1885
his wife Henrietta Elizabeth Crippen said she was a widow, but it looks like
Harrison took off or split anyway. Harrison was born March 22, 1830 and will
die here July 15, 1903. Henrietta was born February 16, 1835 and will die here
April 20, 1915 and they are both buried together for what that’s worth. Got
back together I guess.

He is listed as 23 KS, born in September of 1876. His mother, Mary E. Humphries, is 51 IL, born
in July of 1848. There are no other
children listed. Dad and mom must have become divorced in the 1890s. I don't
know where William Senior is now, but he's here in 1910 and in 1920 and lives
alone at those times. Anyway, this young William will be married in Billings,
Montana in 1910 and in 1920 will be there and his mom will be there too.

Titus from Sutton Massachusetts. Both Wilbur and his folks were in Putnam
County in 1900. By 1910 Wilbur, Bridie and the kids are in Sugar City Colorado
and will be there through 1920 Up there he is a building contractor. The dad
Dexter is here in Franklin County Kansas in 1910. He is widowed and living with
his married daughter Frances Belle Leaper. New England family of course.

58 VT and his wife Dorothy is 63 NY. He is a son of Leander Putnam and Martha Emorette Pike, who was here since 1860. Leander was a son
of Jacob Putnam and Polly Worth and is number 1124 in Eben
Putnam's books. He was born in Middlesex, Vermont. His first wife was Cynthia
Stone who died in 1844. He married Martha back in Vermont in 1845. He moved
here in 1856 after going to Wisconsin for two years. They are here in 1910.

is 70 NY and lives alone. She has been here since the 1860s but has been living
here with her daughter Helen and husband Ben Hudson. Helen Barker is the second
wife and widow of Lyman Putnam. Lyman was a son of Cornelius Putnam and Bridget
Nevins from Hanover, NH. She and young Helen were here in 1885 and she was
married to Ben in 1895.

32 NE. His wife Lizzie is 30 IA. They have Frances 10 KS, John 7 KS and Charles
5 KS. I don’t find them before or after this. Probably not Putmans.

wife May (Josephine after this, same gal) is 29 KS. He is a merchant. He was
here with his mother Elizabeth Ann Dunn Putman in 1900. His dad George Young
Putman was from St. Catherine’s, Lincoln County Ontario. They were all there in
the 1881 Canadian Census. His mom was widowed here in 1895 and 1900. They are
here in 1910 and 1920 and she is widowed in 1930. Dutch family from Ontario
Canada and New York State before that.
He is a mason 55 IL, his wife Everetta (Eva) Bridges is 47 IL. They have Clarence Israel
21 NE, Albert Edward13 NE and Ira Reed 6 KS. He is a son of Victor C. Putman
and Adeline Eliza Hardy from New York. He has been here since 1900 and was in
Nebraska before that. He was born March 1, 1850 in Ogle County, Illinois and
was with the family there in 1860. His dad was a son of Peter Putman of
Orleans, Cattaraugus County. He married Eva November 22, 1876 in DeKalb County
Illinois. Dutch family from New York.

Gilmore is 23 IN and they have Jeneva 1 KS. He is a
son of William Putman and Ida Kenyon from here in Barton County. He was home
here in 1900 and married Flora about 1903.They are here in 1905 and 1910 and
Flora is all by herself with the kids in 1915. She will be married to Frank
Williams and be in Reno County by 1920. Emmett will be married and in Kansas
City, Missouri in 1920.

23 KS and his wife Irene Barker is 18 KS. They have Claudie, a son, 1 KS. He is
a son of William Putman and Ida Kenyon from Barton County. He was home here in
1900. In 1910 in Topeka you will see an Irene Putnam with a son Claud age 4 and
they are with her folks David and Irene Baker. In 1920 Irene has married
William Summers and they are in Topeka still.
I can’t find Ernest in 1910 and he is alone in Topeka in 1920. Then by
1923 he is married to Opal E. Schenrer and they are
in Dickinson County Iowa in 1925 and back in Finney County Kansas in 1930. His
widowed mother Ida Kenyon Putnam is there then too as is Earl from his second
marriage.
He is
21 KS and his wife Nellie is 18 MO. Also here is his widowed mother Ida 50 NY
and the rest of her kids, Otto 14 KS, Nettie 12 KS, Ruth 9 KS and Rena 5 KS. He
is a son of William Putnam and Ida Kenyon. They were all here in 1900 and back
to the 1880. I don’t find them in 1910, but he is in Milwaukee Wisconsin in
1920 with a second wife Anna from Wisconsin and a daughter Grace. In 1930 is
back here in Finney County near his mother and married sister. He has Grace
then but with yet another wife Nina Cauvel from
Pennsylvania.
He is a farmer 22 MO, his wife
A. (Amy B. Morris) 23 IL, and a son E. (Ernest) 2 KS. He is a son of Jacob
Putnam and Celestina Lawton from Vernon County, Missouri. His folks are here
too. They were here in 1900 and will be in 1910.
He is 51 TN and his wife Tina
(Celestina Lawton) 42 IL. They have Harry 18 KS, Alice 16 KS, Boyd 15 KS, Grace
13 KS, Iva 11 KS, Dollie 9 KS and Gladys 5 KS. He is a son of William and Sarah
Foland Putnam from Jefferson County, Tennessee. They
were in Vernon County, Missouri before coming to Kansas in 1885. The family
will be in Fort Scott, Bourbon County through the 1930 census. This is the
Southern family that was just late comers as best I can figure. I can only get
them back to Virginia in the 1700s a hundred years after my Thomas Putnam came
there.

born in Wabash County, Illinois a son of Alfred D. Putnam and Rebecca McLane.
They were here in Butler County, Kansas in 1900, and in Colorado Springs,

houses away from John Russell Putnam, but they are not closely related at all.

(2347) and Eliza Ann Hazard of Madison, Madison County, New York. Samuel was a
son of Dr. Elijah Putnam of Madison. They were there in 1880. They will be in
Arkansas in 1920 and John will be back widowed in 1930 and living with his son
Darwin.

died here in Galena, Kansas. Elijah was a son of Abraham Harrison Putman and
Elizabeth R. Moran and was born in Canton, Fulton County Illinois August 2,
1841. He was first married to Harriet Patterson who died in 1881, then to Laura
Ellen Thompson in 1885. They were in Washington County Kansas in the 1885 State
Census. In 1895 Laura is with her widowed mother Irena A. Thompson and a son
Omar. I don’t find Elijah in the 1900 Census, but it would have been in
Oklahoma. He died March 10, 1905 and is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in
Galena, Cherokee County Kansas. In 1900 Laura is in Longwood, Kay County
Oklahoma with her son Omar and her then married daughter Myrtle. Laura is in
Kansas City, Kansas in 1910 and she died in Kansas City Missouri April 21, 1914
probably at the home of her son Omar who was living there. Mary Jane is married
to John Cole here in 1910 with Hazeal and Laura. In 1920 and 1930 Mary Jane is
widowed with her son Hazeal in Quapaw, Ottawa County Oklahoma. Southern Putman

County, Nebraska. They are in Dodge County, Nebraska in 1910, and in Garden

in 1900 and will be in 1910. He is the son of John W. Putnam and Mary Alice
Fisher. They were in Tazewell County, Illinois in 1880. The father John was
born in Indiana, and the family came out of Kentucky originally. Southern
Putmans.

living with their grandparents H. F. and Mollie Hicks. Their dad is listed

came over from Missouri. He is a son of John S. Putman and Clarissa Duey from Ross County, Ohio. He was born there September
12, 1838. He was here with his mother in 1895. He was married here in Richland
Township in 1900. He will still be widowed in Elbert County, Colorado in 1910
and in 1920. He had a son Clarence born in 1898 and daughter Leona born in 1902
who are staying with his wife’s family and listed above now. They will be back
with him in Colorado in 1910. James will die in Salida Colorado August 15,
1954. This is a German family from Maryland.

64 IN, and his wife Sarah Lancaster is 61 OH, and Dell (Delmar) their son is 25
KS. Charles operates a hotel. Dell is a piano tuner. He is a son of Newton
Putnam from Massachusetts. He has been here since 1871 and listed from 1880 on.
Newton was a son of Ezra and Sally Putnam, born in Danvers, Massachusetts, then
moved to Cavendish, Windsor County, Vermont. Then Newton moved to Indiana where
Charles was born. They are here in 1910 but not in 1920.

47 NY and his wife Lillian Mae Schofield is 39 NY. He is a merchant and they
came here from Missouri and New York, probably Genesee County, before that as
that’s where Lillian is from. He was born December 3, 1856 and will die here
June 27, 1909. Don’t know his folks though. Lillian will die here July 31,
1909. They will have a daughter Lillian soon and she will be with her momճ
folks, George and Emma Schofield in Batavia, Genesee County New York in 1910
and 1920.

Harrison Kimball Putnam and Henrietta Crippen from here. He was born when the
family was back in Worcester Massachusetts. Harrison was a son of Jasper
Wheeler Putnam (#3105) and Mary Kimball, and was born in Grafton, Massachusetts
March 22, 1830. They had been in Xenia, Ohio in the 1850s and 1860s, returned
to Worcester, Mass for a spell and then came out here about 1878. They are here
in 1910 and then in Saline County in 1920 and 1930.
He is
a farmer 45 KS, and his wife Ida McGee 46 IL. They have Webster 22 KS, George
17 KS, Ralph 9 KS, Mark 7 KS and Arlo 3 KS. He is a son of Leander Putnam and
Martha Emorette Pike of Vermont. Leander is a son of
Jacob Putnam and Polly Worth and is number 1124 in Eben
Putnam's books. He was born in Middlesex, Vermont. His first wife was Cynthia
Stone who died in 1844. He married Martha back in Vermont in 1845. He moved
here in 1856 after going to Wisconsin for two years. Charles was in Anderson
County, Kansas in 1870, not listed in 1880 and here in 1900. They will be here
in 1910 and then get divorced, as in 1920 she is alone with the kids in Douglas
County. In 1930 Ida is with her son Clifford in Oklahoma.
He is 19 CA and lives with
Herbert and Emma Baldwin. He was here with them as a nephew in 1895 and 1900. I
don’t find him in 1910, but he is married in Sonoma County California in 1920
and in San Diego in 1930. His dad was born in Massachusetts and his mother in
Ohio. Luther Lee is a son of Charles Summer Putnam and Ivy Adams. She had
married Albert Baldwin prior to marrying Charles. He was here in 1900. Can’t
find in 1910, but he is in Santa Rosa, California in 1920 and 1930 and then San
Francisco in 1940.
Martha
is now 79 VT. At home is her daughter Hattie E. 48 WI. Also, her son Charles E.
45 KS and his wife Ida McGee 45 IL, her son Webster M. 21 KS and his wife Ida
B. 19 KS. Then there are George E. 17 KS, Ralph E. 9 KS, Mark L. 6 KS and
Clifford O. 3 KS who are all kids of Charles and Ida. She is Martha Emorette Pike, the widow of Leander Putnam from Anderson
County. Leander was a son of Jacob Putnam and Polly Worth and is number 1124 in
Eben Putnam's books. He was born in Middlesex,

(65) NY. At home is his daughter Ida 28 KS and then his other daughter Pearl 26
KS and Glen 1 KS. Pearl wasn’t here in 1900 and was probably married then. Glen
would be hers but both should have a different last name. He was in Davis
County in 1870 and 1880 and here in 1900. I think he is the son of Lansing B.
and Sarah Putman from Livingston County New York. That George was home there in
1850 at age 1. This is a New York Dutch family. He is here in 1910.
He is 56 NY and his wife Lydia
E. Teague is 53 ENG. He is a son of Jacob D. Putman and Hannah Lewis from
Cayuga County New York. He was in Fayette County, Iowa in 1870, Graham County,
Kansas in 1880 and Elk County, Kansas in 1900. They are here through 1930 when
he is 81 and she is 75. Dutch family out of Montgomery County New York
originally. Well, actually Holland originally.

Lucy E. Little is 31 KS (Yes she and the kids are KS).

is 30 KS. He is a son of William Putnam and Ida Kenyon from Harvey County and
then Barton County. They were married in Topeka in 1900. I don’t find either in
1910.

(Frances Jane Beecham) is 50 IL. They have Ella 20 KS, Winifred 18 KS, James
Allison 13 KS, Vernon L. 10 KS and a daughter Charlotte I. Who is listed as a
son S. I. 2 KS. Allison James Putman is a son of Jacob from New York. In
1850-60 they were in Scott County Iowa in 1870 in Benton County Iowa, and here
from 1880 on. He is widowed here in 1920. I am pretty sure this is a New York
Dutch family, but just can’t pin the dad Jacob down yet.

KS. He is a son of Allison Putman from here. He was at home in 1880 and is
living by himself here in 1910. Don’t know what happened to Lola.

Lillie’s first marriage with a guy name Putz. Then they have E. (Edith) E. 2 KS
and J. (John) W. 1 month KS. George is a son of George A. and Fanny Putnam of
Yarmouth, Cumberland County, Maine. His dad was a minister originally from
Massachusetts. George is a Teacher. They were here in 1900 and will be in
Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois in 1910 and 1920.
He is 20 IL (KS and it’s correct
that way in 1920 and 1930) and boarding with S. F. and Anna Mead. He is John
Howard Putnam and has been with his widowed mother Mary E. Putnam in Cowley
County from 1895 up until now. He is a son of William Boyd Putman and Mary
Elizabeth Smith from Fulton County Illinois. By 1910 he will be here married to
Regina Evans. They are in Los Angeles California in 1920 and 1930. He will die
there May 23, 1943 and Regina August 28, 1980.

73 OH and his wife Mary Ann Hobbs is 69 PA. He is a son of Gabriel Putman and
Susannah Weimer from Stark County Ohio and Pennsylvania before that. They have
been in Stark County up till the 1880s, and then were here in Kingman County
Kansas in 1895 through 1905. They are in Sedgwick County in 1910 and Mary Ann
is widowed there in 1920. This is the German Putman family from Pennsylvania.
SARAH PUTNAM Oswego, Labette County
She
is 78 KY and lives with John and Georgia McLane. She was married to Henry
Putnam from New York. Georgiana 38 IL is her daughter. They were in Bureau
County Illinois in 1870 and here in Oswego in 1875 and 1880. She was widowed
here in 1895 by herself, and was here with her daughter in 1900.
SARAH PUTMAN Leavenworth, Leavenworth County
She
is 71 IRE and lives alone. She is the widow of Silas R. Putnam from here. She
was widowed here in 1900 too. Silas was a son of Silas Putnam and Martha Jordan
of Windsor County Vermont and then Lenawee County, Michigan.
SILAS A. PUTNAM Leavenworth, Leavenworth County
He is
listed as 34 KS and a druggist. He is a son of Silas and Sarah Putnam from
here. He was married to Emma Courtney here in 1900, and then will be married to
Kittie Gardner here in 1910. In 1920, he will be in San Diego California with a
third wife named Ada Gardner from Missouri. His dad was a son of Silas Putnam
and Martha Jordan of Windsor County Vermont and then Lenawee County, Michigan
and then here in the 1860s.
He is now 42 OH. His wife Anna
M. Walkup is 37 VA. They have Bert (Herbert Hoover from Anna’s first marriage)
19 KS, Mabel 15 KS and Helen 11 KS. Also here is Anna’s sister Jennie Walkup 48
VA who has been with and will be forever. He is a son of Henry Clay Putnam and
Amanda Webster, and was born in Devil's Dam, Ohio. The family was in Chase
County, Kansas in 1880. His folks are now in Oregon. They are here in 1900
through 1930 and then forever. New England family.

is a teacher and lives with several other ones. She is a daughter of Joseph
Putman and Amanda Parker and is also shown with hem now back in Wakefield, Clay

Alma Peacock is 46 TX. They have Lucille 20 CO, Frank James 18 CO, John Sidney
15 CO and Bessie (Mary Elizabeth) 12 KS. He is a son of Sidney and Lucy Putnam
from Warren County Pennsylvania. Sidney is a son of Daniel Putnam and Betsy
Barnet of Vermont, Buffalo, New York, Warren County, Pennsylvania and now here.
Sidney will die here March 23, 1908. They were in Breckenridge County in 1860
and Lyon County in 1870 and 1900, and obviously in Colorado in between. Frank
and Laura are here in 1910 and 1920.
He is 48 KS (really is Buffalo
NY) and his wife Lydia E. Brown is 44 PA. At home are Charles 21 KS, Lucy 20
KS, Sidney 18 KS, Ralph 15 KS, Elma Olivia 12 KS and John Harold 5 KS. He is a
son of Sidney Putnam and Lucy Ann Shepherdson from Buffalo New York and here in
Breckenridge County by the 1850s. Sidney was a son of Daniel Putnam and Betsy
Barrett from Guilford County, Vermont and then to Buffalo, Erie County New York
and then Warren County, Pennsylvania. Sidney will be here till he dies in 1908.
Fred and Lydia are here through 1920. She will die here in 1928 and Fred will
marry an Adelia and they are here in 1930. Adelia will die in 1932, not sure
when Fred does though.
He is 32 KS, his wife Nettie Rabourn is 33 MO, and they have Perry 9 KS, Inez 5 KS. His
father Sidney Putnam 81 NY is with them as he was in 1900. He is a son of
Sidney Putnam and his second wife Josephine Best from here. They will be here
in 1910 through 1930 at least. Sidney is a son of Daniel Putnam and Betsy
Barnet of Vermont, Buffalo, New York, Warren County, Pennsylvania and now here.
This will be Sidney's last appearance, as he will die here March 23, 1908.

and his wife M. M. (Matilda Humphrey) is 49 PA. He is a son of Lewis Putnam and
Mary Ann Russell from Crawford County, Pennsylvania and from Chautauqua County,
New York before that. They were in Warren County Pennsylvania in 1900 and will
be back there in 1910. By 1920 they are in Washington County Oklahoma and he is
widowed there in 1930.
She is 11 KS and lives with J. (John) S. Hogan 52. He is her grandfather and they were together in Cherokee County in 1900. They are living with Alfred and Ora Hibbs. In 1910 they are all here and she is listed as a stepdaughter of Alfred. Ora Hogan is her mother. She is Iva Pearl Putnam, daughter of William K. Putnam and Ora Ann Stephens. Bill died in 1894. There is a marriage record that has them married in 1893 in Jasper, MO.

then Benton County in 1870 and in Jewell County Kansas by 1875. They were here
in Norton County in 1900. Not sure who Jacob is but guess New York Dutch. He
was born there.

is a son of Reuben Putnam and Eleanor Abbott from Vermont. He was born in
Bethel, Vermont on March 25, 1831. He married Mary Ann Stafford in Woodstock,
Henry County, Illinois on December 15, 1859. They were in Wabasha County Minnesota
in 1870, Kane County Illinois before that. He and Mary Ann were here in Smith
County in 1885 and he was widowed here in Osborne County in 1895. They are here
in 1910 and 1920.

Hamilton is 62 NY. They have Abbie E. 25 KS. He is a son of Elbridge Gerry
Putnam and Eunice Knowlton, and born in Woodstock Connecticut August 1, 1839.
They were in Kankakee County, Illinois in 1860. They were in Clay County Kansas
in 1880 and 1885, in Riley County, Iowa in 1900 and 1905, and Bill and Ella are
in Dundy County Nebraska by 1910. They will die in 1913 and 1916 and be brought
back here for burial.

Belle Doty is 39 NE. They now have James P. 23 KS, William P. 15 KS, Katherine
B. 7 KS, George W. 4 KS and Harriet W 1 KS. He is a son of Asa Spaulding Putnam
(1635) and Sarah Elizabeth Wilbur. Israel (3286) was born in Brooklyn,
Connecticut on October 29, 1855. He has been here in Kansas since the late
1870s. Israel and Anna were married in Osborne County Kansas May 20, 1880 and
were in Rooks County in 1900. They are back in Osborne County in 1910 through
1930 and longer I am sure.

his wife Emily Margaret Belleville is 31 IL. They have Elliott 2 KS. His
divorced mother Henrietta E. 70 ENG is with them and will be in 1910. He is a
son of Harrison Kimball Putnam and Henrietta E. Crippen. Harrison is a son of
Jasper Wheeler Putnam (#3105) and Mary Kimball, and was born in Grafton,
Massachusetts March 22, 1830. They had been in Xenia, Ohio in the 1850s and

Henrietta was alone here with the younger kids in 1885. Harrison showed up in
1900 with his son Walter in Saline County. Not a widow, but a divorcee. John is
here in 1920 and then widowed by 1930.

(Lydia Catherine Russell) 40 OH. He is a son of Harrison Kimball Putnam and
Henrietta Crippen. They have been here since the 1870s. His folks have
divorced. His mom is here in town with his brother John Ernest Putnam. His dad
was with him in 1900 too. Walter is here in 1910 through 1930.
He I now 75 ME and his wife
Flora Sweet is 71 ME. He is from Oxford County, Maine, a son of Samuel Putnam
and Susan Adams, and a grandson of Samuel Putnam number 1855. They were in
Grant County, Wisconsin prior to heading out here, and were here for the State
1875 Census. They were here in Wichita in 1900. By 1910 Flora is widowed in
Marin County California with her married daughter Ida Ritz. He is a commercial
traveler.
He is 26 KS and his wife Alvina
is 26 GER. He is a son of Mahlon Champlain and Flora Putman from Maine. They
were in Montgomery County KS in 1880. They are here in 1910 and then in Orange
County, California by 1920 and Beverly Hills in 1930.
He is 30 IL (CAN) and his wife
Ida May Kensler is 30 IL. They live with her folks
George C. and Mary Kensler. Don’t know who Robert
belongs to. In 1910 and 1915 he lists that he is from Canada and came in 1867
when he was about a year old. Ida though was with her folks here in 1900. She
and Robert got married April 7, 1902 here in Wichita. They will be here in 1910
and 1915 and then they will get divorced. Ida is back with her folks in 1920
and says she is divorced. She says widowed in 1925 and on and is here with her
folks in 1920 and then with her married brother Frank and his wife in 1925,
1930 and 1940. She never remarried.
She is 86 VT and still lives
with Nathan and Maranda Morrison. She is Sarah Capen
who was first married to Isaac Diamond and then to Douglas Putnam and they were
in Marietta, Washington County Ohio in 1880. She is widowed and Miranda would
be a daughter of hers with Isaac Diamond. They were all here in 1900.
She is 32 IA. She looks like the
daughter of Henry Putnam and Elizabeth Beaudette as
shown in the 1880 Iowa Census as Addie 6 IA. Henry was
born with the name Patenaude up in
Canada, and was listed as Henry Putnode in Westford,
Chittenden County Vermont in 1850. Probably because there were several Putnams
in Westford, he changed and Anglicized his
name to Putnam sometime in the 1850s while in Vermont.
He is now 82 NH and his wife
Mary Maria Dunmire is 67 PA. He is a son of Gideon
Putnam and Sarah Barnes. He was born May 3, 1822 in West Nottingham, Rockingham
County, New Hampshire. They were married here in Elm Creek, Breckenridge County
on December 24 1857. They were in Topeka in 1900 and still are in 1920 when he
is 88 and Anna 72. Mary is widowed here in 1930 at age 82.
He is a merchant 54 IA and his
wife Emma A. is 48 OH. I don’t ever see them before or since either here or in
Iowa. There is a tombstone that states he was born April 7, 1848 and she May
20, 1857 but no death dates.
She is
43 OH and has Alfred Klingberg and his wife with her.
She is a teacher. She is Catherine Douglas Putnam a daughter of David
Putnam Jr. (Eben Putnam #1573) and Hannah Munson. She
was born in Harmar, Washington County Ohio August 9,
1842 and find-a-grave has her death there on January 13, 1892. But that is not
her or read wrong. She is going strong in 1920 in Pennsylvania She is home
there in 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880. In the Ohio 1880 she is single and 37 years
old. Then she is also listed in Topeka Kansas in 1880 as a teach and is there
single in 1895, 1900, 1905. Then in 1910 she is out in Sacrament, California
with her widowed sister Mary Burr Putnam. Then in 1920 she is in Aspinwell, Allegheny County Pennsylvania with the widowed
husband of another sister Elizabeth Perkins Putnam. This is a direct line that
goes back to Israel Putnam Jr. of Ohio to his daddy General Israel Putnam of
the Revolutionary War that got us out on our own as the good old USA.

Marie 16 KS and Juanita 12 KS. He is the son of Jonathan Putnam and Frances
Browner from Sangamon County, Illinois. He was single in Salina in 1880 and
married there in 1885. They were in Decatur County Kansas in 1895 and 1900, and
are here in 1910 and 1920 and Emma is widowed in Portland Oregon with her then
married daughter Edith in 1930.
He is an engineer with the steam
railroad 41 MI and his wife Emma 34 IN. Their daughter Jessie is 18 KS. He is a
son of Charles Putnam and Sarah Lancaster from Clay County. Charles was a son
of Newton Putnam from Vermont, and was in Wells County, Indiana in 1850, where
he was born. The family was in Richardson County, Nebraska in 1870, and Clay
County in 1880 where William was born. He has been here since the mid 1880s and
will be in 1910. In 1920 they are in Tom Green County Texas still running the
trains down there.

is a son of Jacob Putman and Susan Linniger, and was

through 1900. They will be in Reno County, Kansas in 1910 then in Chautauqua
County, New York in 1920. German family out of Pennsylvania.

Ann Stafford and was born in Lake City, Wabasha County Minnesota, and came with
the family to Smith County in about 1879. They are here through 1930. New
England Line.

MO. They have Henry 2 KS and Herbert 3/12 KS. All but Herbert are here in 1910. He is William Raymond Putnam, son of
William Riley Putnam and Mary Humphries. His dad was a son of Riley Putnam
(3355) from Chester, Vermont. Riley Sr. was a son of Jesse Putnam and Lucy
Coleman from Chester, Windsor County, Vermont. His folks are going through what
looks like a divorce. The folks are here but separated. His mom will be here
with them in 1910. Ray will be married in Billings, Montana in 1910 and in 1920
will be there and his mom will be there too.

Humphries is 56 IL. He is a son of Riley Putnam (3355) from Chester, Vermont.
Riley Sr. was a son of Jesse Putnam and Lucy Coleman from Chester, Windsor
County, Vermont. William was born in Charlotte, Chautauqua County, New York on
December 3, 1838. He married Mary November 14, 1867. They were in Ringgold
County Iowa in 1870 and here in 1875 on. Mary was alone with her son in 1900
and will be back with him here in 1910 and then in Montana in 1920 and 1930.
Guess they will be divorced.

Matilda Rudy is 26 KS. They have Donald 8 KS, Roy 2 KS and Paul 4/12 KS. He is
a son of Justin Putnam and Mary Ann Stafford and was born in Lake City, Wabasha
County Minnesota in 1871, and came with the family to Smith County in about
1879. They have been here ever since. Justin was a son of Reuben Putnam and
Eleanor Abbott from Vermont. He was born in Bethel, Vermont on March 25, 1831.
He married Mary Ann in Woodstock, Henry County, Illinois on December 15, 1859.
They were in Kane County Illinois before going to Minnesota. They are here
through 1930.
She is 32 IA and has her son
Alvin 12 KS and daughter Nellie 10 KS with her. They live with A. J. and M. L.
Whitehouse who might be her folks. In 1900 she was in Kansas City married to
Henry Putman from Pennsylvania. By 1910 Viola has married Phillip Vensler and they are all in Geary County Kansas in 1910.

4 MO. He is a carpenter. He is a son of Luther Charles Putman and Lucy Ann

Forest 15 MO. He is a son of Joseph Putnam and Mary Jamison from Lyndeborough,
New Hampshire. That family was in Wabash County, Indiana in 1860. Then he was

that. He was born March 1, 1850 in Ogle County, Illinois and was with the
family there in 1860. His dad was a son of Peter Putman of Orleans, Cattaraugus

must have been a nickname. She married Clarence Israel Putnam in 1907. He was a
son of William Putnam and Adeline Hardy and was born In Lincoln, Nebraska in
1884. Dutch guy from New York. Then her
life takes a tumble. Clarence went to Seattle Washington and died there
November 11, 1909. To matters worse her mom will die here August 30, 1911 and
Daisy will head out to California and die in Los Angeles October 16, 1939. She
will marry Fred Phelps out there.

with the kids in 1915 and no Emmett. He is in Kansas City Missouri with a new
young wife, Ella Palmer, and they have a 3 year old
son by 1920. Flora is remarried in Reno County Kansas in 1920. Emmett and Ella
are in Salina, Kansas in 1925.

is a son of John Russell Putnam and Genella Lord of
Madison County, New York. Young Sam was born back there, but came here with his
folks in the mid 1880s. They were just married here in 1905. His folks are with
him here in 1915.

They are stepchildren of John W.
Cole 67 IRE and his wife Mary Jane 50 TN. Hazel (Hazeal a son) 10 OK, Laura is
16 OK. They were here in 1905 and Mary was widowed then. Mary Jane (no idea as
to last name) was the third wife of Elijah Putman who just died here in Galena,
Kansas. Elijah was a son of Abraham Harrison Putman and Elizabeth R. Moran and
was born in Canton, Fulton County Illinois August 2, 1841. He was first married
to Harriet Patterson who died in 1881, then to Laura Ellen Thompson in 1885. They
were in Washington County Kansas in the 1885 State Census. I don’t find Elijah
in the 1900 Census, but it would have been in Oklahoma. He died March 10, 1905
and is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Galena, Cherokee County Kansas. Mary
Jane was widowed here in 1905 with Hazeal and Laura. In 1920 and 1930 Mary Jane
is widowed again and with her son Hazeal in Quapaw, Ottawa County Oklahoma.

County, Vermont. Then Newton moved to Indiana where Charles was born. They will
both die in the next decade.

was a son of Jasper Wheeler Putnam (#3105) and Mary Kimball, and was born in
Grafton, Massachusetts March 22, 1830. They had been in Xenia, Ohio in the
1850s and 1860s, returned to Worcester, Mass for a spell and then came out here
about 1878. They are in Greeley, Saline County in 1915.

Viola. He is now 17 KS and a stepson of Philip Vensler

marry an Adelia and they are here in 1930. Adelia will die in 1932. Fred was
born August 30, 1856 and will die here February 16, 1936. OBITS has Ralph as

since the 1860s. Nathan was a son of Nathan Putnam and Nancy Trull of New

Elbridge Gerry Putnam and Eunice Knolton from
Massachusetts. They are here in 1915 and his dad, John (then 64 KY) is with
them. They were in Kankakee County, IL in 1880 and 1900. Harvey was born in

Something will happen by 1920. Ida is widowed at home with her folks in
Wichita, Alpheus has died and their two kids are with Amanda in 1920 and 1930.
William was born April 11, 1855 in Scott County Iowa and will die here in Sand
Creek on February 28, 1927. Amanda was born in Indiana September 17, 1866 and
will die here January 20, 1934.

Kane County Illinois before that. He and Mary Ann were here in Smith County in

Warren County, Virginia. He is a grandson of William and Pency
Gill Putman from Fauquier County. One of the Southern family. He married Minnie
A. Modest in Independence, Kansas in 1902. They split and she has married John
Lennox here in Wichita. In 1920 his/their daughter Helene shows up here with
John and Minnie A. Lennox.

He is a machinery salesman and says he is married for 26 years. He is a son of
George Washington Putnam and Martha Brewer from Rutland County Vermont. They
moved to Wisconsin in the 1850s and George was there in 1880. He was married to
a Ruth in Dane County Wisconsin in 1900. He will soon marry a Lizzie 8 years
older than him. He was born February 9, 1853, and will die June 15, 1915. The
marker also lists Elizabeth as a wife but with no dates. I guess she married or
moved on.

is a son of James Daniel Putman and Diadema Smith. He was with his uncle
Bennett in Rice County in 1880 and don’t know where in 1900.

Barnes. He was born May 3, 1822 in West Nottingham, Rockingham County, New
Hampshire. They have been here since the 1870s.

David Baker. Her son Claude 6 KS is with her, but no husband. She was married
to Ernest Putnam in Barton County in 1905. They are here with her folks in
1915. By 1920 she has married William Summers and has Claude with her.

a son of Jonathan Putman and Frances Browner, and was here in 1900. He was with
his folks in Sangamon County Illinois in the 1870 census and here in Kansas
from the late 1870s on. He will die soon. By 1920 Emma will be in Seattle
Washington with their married daughter Edith and her husband Earl Graham. Then
by 1930 they are all in Portland Oregon.
NELLIE PUTNAM Topeka, Shawnee County
She is 22 MO and a daughter of
David Clark. Her son Earl 4 KS is with her. She was married to William Ray
Putnam from Barton County. He is missing now but is up in Wisconsin with
another wife Anna. He will be back down here in Finney County in 1930 with wife
number 3 Nina J. Cauvel. Nellie will marry William
James and be in Greenwood County in 1920. Earl is with her in 1920 and then
married in Finney County in 1930 and in Reno County in 1940. His grandmother
Ida is there then too.
WILLIAM PUTNAM Topeka, Shawnee County
He is 46 MI and living with
Eliza McAdoo. His wife Emma 39 IN is there as well. They were here in 1900. He
is a son of Charles Putnam and Sarah Lancaster from Clay County. Charles was a
son of Newton Putnam from Vermont, and was in Wells County, Indiana in 1850,
where he was born. The family was in Richardson County, Nebraska in 1870, and
Clay County in 1880 where William was born. In 1920 they are in Tom Green
County Texas. He is a railroad engineer here and will be in Texas.

divorced as her husband is also in town but lives by himself

Charles Putman and Lucy Ann Ewell from Huron County Ohio and New York State
before that. Dutch Family. They have been here since 1900 and are in 1920.
Elmer was born in Huron County Ohio December 13, 1858, and will die in Kansas
City, Missouri February 16, 1935. His wife Mary will survive him. At that time
in 1935 Elmer and Mary are living with their son Luther and his family there in
Kansas City.
LAURA PUTMAN Kansas City, Wyandotte County
She is 54 IL and an aunt of
Homer Thompson. Laura Ellen Thompson was married to Elijah Putman in Washington
County Kansas in 1885. Elijah was a son of Abraham Putman and Elizabeth Duff
from Davis County Iowa. She was in Kay County, Oklahoma in 1900 with her son
Omer and her married daughter Myrtle. The son Oliver Omer Putman married Ida
Leah Sarinders in Leavenworth County December 6, 1907
and they are across the Missouri River in Kansas City Missouri now and will be
through 1930. Laura will go over there soon and die there April 21, 1914.
LEVI PUTNAM Rosedale, Wyandotte County
He is 60 NH, Agnes Ellen Fensom 44 CAN, Forest Lee 20 KS. He is a son of Joseph
Putnam and Mary Jamison from Lyndeborough, New Hampshire. He was born December
26, 1848 in Lyndeborough, New Hampshire. He was there in 1850 and with his dad
and stepmother in Wabash County Indiana in 1860. He was single here in Kansas
in 1870 and 1880 and then married Agnes about 1882. Agnes was born October 4,
1866. Levi and his family were in Missouri in 1900 and here in 1905. I don’t
find them in 1920, but he and Agnes will be with their married daughter Maude
Ladd in Fulton County, Arkansas in 1930. They will also be listed in Kansas
City Missouri in 1930. Levi will die October 28, 1940 and Agnes November 2,
1944 and both are buried in Kansas City. Forest lee was born October 6, 1889
and will die May 7, 1964 also in Kansas City, Missouri.

1910. He is a son of Leander Putnam and Martha Emorette
Pike, who was here since 1860. Leander was a son of Jacob Putnam and Polly
Worth and is number 1124 in Eben Putnam's books, and
has been here since the late 1850s. George married Dorothy January 30, 1882.

7 KS and Duyane 4 KS. She was married to Emmett
Putnam here in 1905 and 1910.
He is 25 KS, his wife Pearl Givins is 23 KS and they have Helen 6 KS. He is a son of
Jacob Putnam and Celestine Lawton from here in town. Part of the Jefferson
County Tennessee family that I can’t totally figure out. There will be a divorce as Ida and the kids
are here in 1920 without Boyd. Boyd will marry a Maud here in 1922 and be in
Kansas City, Missouri with her in 1930.

County, Vermont. The family was in Anderson County Kansas by the 1850s. They
will get divorced soon, and in 1920 she is alone with the kids in Douglas
County. In 1930 Ida is with her son Clifford in Oklahoma.

They were in Franklin County in 1900 and are here (listed above) now. They are
in St. Louis County Missouri by 1920 and he is a University Professor then. By
1930 he is in Oak Park, Illinois and an economist in a meat packing plant.
George was born July 9, 1887 in Richmond City, Franklin County Kansas and will
die in Illinois June 24, 1939. He married Clara Edwards June 6, 1911.

P. Davis is 37 WI. They live with N. A. and E. P. Davis both in their 60s from
Wisconsin who are her parents. They were married here December 18, 1912. Bill
is a son of William H. Putnam and Miriam W. King of Wabash County Illinois. He
was there through 1900 when he was also listed in the Navy/Marine Corps. On
thee ship USS Iowa. He was born in Lancaster, Illinois March 23, 1877. He will
die in Topeka, Kansas February 4, 1917. His dad was a son of Eber Putnam and
Tryphosa Ballard from here and New York and Massachusetts before that.

of Pliney Putnam and Mary Spofford from Springfield,
Vermont, and Leman was born in Dodge County, Wisconsin. They were here in 1910
and will be in Reno County in 1920.

VA, and they have Helen 21 KS. They have all been together here since the
1880s. Her sister Jennie Walkup 56 VA is with them, has been and will be in
1930. He is a son of Henry Clay Putnam and Amanda Webster, and was born in
Devil's Dam, Ohio. He and a couple of brothers stayed here in Kansas when his
folks moved out to Washington State in the late 1880s. The family was in Chase
County, Kansas in 1880 and here ever since. They are here in 1920 and 1930 and
for the rest of their lives.

grandkids or something. Don’t know. He is the son of Elbridge Gerry Putman

Kentucky, and then grew up in Essex Township, Kankakee County Illinois. He was
married to Lucy Ann Cornwall and was there through 1910. He will be married to
a new wife named Lida in Jackson County Oregon in
1920. Then by 1930 he is back here widowed in Neosho County Kansas at age 79.

Adelia and they are here in 1930. Adelia will die in 1932, not sure when Fred

Colorado in between. Frank and Laura are here in 1920 and 1930. New England

will be in Mahaska County, Iowa in 1920 with Millie and some kids, and in
Poweshiek County Iowa in 1930.

29, 1855. They have been here in Kansas since the 1870s and are here through

1870, Kane County Illinois before that. He and Mary Ann were here in Smith
County in 1885 and he was widowed here in Osborne County in 1895. Justin and

Harrison was a son of Jasper Wheeler Putnam (#3105) and Mary Kimball, and was
born in Grafton, Massachusetts March 22, 1830. They had been in Xenia, Ohio in
the 1850s and 1860s, returned to Worcester, Mass for a spell and then came out
here about 1878. They were in Ellsworth County in 1910 and are here in 1920 and
1930.

County, New York on December 3, 1838. He married Mary E. Humphries November 14,
1867. They were in Ringgold County Iowa in 1870 and here in 1875 through 1895.
Then the split or got divorced. She was here in town in 1910 but living with
her son William Raymond Putnam.

He is 19 MO and lives with Emeline Saroni 30 MO. He works at a bank. In 1910 he was across the river in Kansas City Missouri living with Mary Putnam 21 IA. He was born in Joplin, Missouri December 12, 1895 and will die in Pasadena, California April 1, 1983. There is a family tree that says his parents were William and Adelaide Lieb and his death certificate also states his mother was Marie Griswold. He had to have been adopted by a Putnam at some stage. I am guessing his wife Marie was a Stepp based on her mother’s name, but the Stepp may have come from a second marriage. Hopefully a descendent will call and straighten this all out.

Josephine is widowed here in 1930. He is a son of George Young Putman and
Elizabeth Ann Dunn from St. Catherine’s, Lincoln County Ontario. They were all
there in the 1881 Canadian Census. The family must have come down in the later
1880s or 1890s as Elizabeth was widowed here in the State 1895 census.
JOHN PUTNAM Atchison, Atchison County
He is 26 KS and a roomer. He
lives very close to the above John, but was not listed in 1900 or 1910, so I
have no ideas here.
WILLIAM PUTNAM Lancaster, Atchison County
He is a son of Victor C. Putman
and Adeline Eliza Hardy of Ogle County, Illinois and has been here since the
1880s. He is now 68 IL, Everetta Bridges 60 IL and
Ira A. 23 KS. He will die here May 5, 1926. Everetta
will be here till she dies January 8, 1944.
Ira is married in Atchison City in 1930.
CLARA PUTNAM Hoisington, Barton County
She is 65 IL, Laverne (a son
Forest Lavern) 33 IL. She is Clara Ellen Cone, widow of Orlando Proctor Putnam.
They were here in Kansas in 1900 and she was widowed in Iowa in 1910. Orlando
was a real estate developer here. Clara is here with her married daughter Mabel
Morrison in 1930. Forest Laverne was married to Carrie Glen Goldbeck.
She died in Des Moines, Iowa December 23 1917. He will marry Leota Jennings September 22, 1920, and they are here in
1925 and 1930.
OTTO H. (HAROLD) PUTNAM Barton County
William Putnam and Ida Kenyon's
boy. He is now 31 KS, Florence Mathews 31 KS, Harold 6 KS, Alfred 4 10/12 KS
and Lyle 2 10/12 KS. They are in Edwards County in 1930.
JACOB PUTNAM Fort Scott, Bourbon County
He is still here. He is 66 TN
(Jefferson County folks), Celestine Lawton 61 IL, Grace 28 KS. His daughter
Gladys 19 KS is there with her husband Wesley Stoufer
or Stover 19 MO and a granddaughter Irene Hudson 1 3/12 KS.
PEARL PUTNAM Fort Scott, Bourbon County
She is 28 KS, Helen 11 KS,
Francis a son 4 KS and Beulah 3 4/12 KS. She is Pearl Givins
and was married to Boyd Alton Putnam who was a son of Jacob Putnam here in
town. Must be a divorce as Boyd will marry a Maud here in 1922 and be in Kansas
City, Missouri with her in 1930. Pearl will be married to Oscar Leroy Taylor in
about 1930-31 and will be with him here in 1940 and Beulah will be with her.
DARWIN PUTMAN Chelsea, Butler County
He is
32 KS and living alone. In 1900, he was here with his parents, John Russell
Putnam and Genella Lord. I don't find him in 1910. He
is married here in 1930 and his widowed dad is here with him then. OBITS gives
Darwin’s date of birth as June 8, 1887 and he will die in El Dorado Kansas in
January of 1973.
SAM PUTMAN Chelsea, Butler County
They were here in 1910 and will
be in 1930. He is 37 NY, Nellie 38 OH. Still no kids. He is a son of John
Russell Putnam from here and from Madison County, New York before that.
WILLIS W. PUTMAN Butler County
He is 36 TX and boarding. He is
a son of Thomas Alfred Putnam and Susan A. Robertson from Coryell County Texas.
He was born January 12, 1873 and will die in Monroe County Missouri June 7,
1940. He works as an oil field pumper. He will marry Irene Dowell soon and they
are in Elk County Kansas by the 1925 census.
ALICE PUTNAM Cherokee, Cherokee County
She is 71 OH and widowed. She is
living with her married daughter Ruby 35 MO and her husband W. M. Wilkinson 34
MO. Eliza Alice Vincent is the widow of Levi Putman. They were in Bates County
Missouri in 1880. I haven’t found them since then. Alice will die here in 1931.

He is 41 KS, Louise 31 KS. He is
a son of Charles and Sarah Putman. He was in Clay County in 1880 and 1910 and
in Douglas County in 1900. They are still here in 1930 and have a daughter by
then.
FRED PUTNAM Athelstan, Clay County
He is 35 MO, Hattie 24 NE and
they have Frances 2 4/12 SD. He is a son of Henry Clay from here. Dad died and
he moved in with his mom back in the 1890s. His mom married William Musselman
and they were all in Chase County Kansas in 1900. Didn't find him or any of
them in 1910, but here he is once again. They will be in McPherson County in
1930. No more kids.
JESSE PUTNAM Arkansas City, Cowley County
He was
here with his mother Mary in 1900. He is now 39 KS, Nellie Howk
his wife 25 KS, and Warren 1 8/12 KS. They are here in 1930. He is a son of
William Boyd Putnam and Mary Elizabeth Smith. He was born September 20, 1883
and will die in Arkansas City September 5, 1969. William was a son of James
Daniel Putman and Diadema Smith from Fulton County Illinois. Southern Putmans.
MARY E. PUTNAM Arkansas City, Cowley County
She is 65 TN and alone or
possibly with her son Jesse. She was here back in 1900 and 1910 and widowed
both times. Mary Elizabeth Smith was married to William Boyd Putnam.

He is 39 MO, Bertha 36 KS,
Jessie 17 KS, George 15 KS, Gertrude 13 KS and Nellie 11 KS. They were here in
1900 and in Butler County in 1910. He is a son of David and Sarah Putnam from
here, and was born when the family was in Harrison County, Missouri before the
family came here.

has been here since 1900, but was widowed in 1910. Laura is a new wife and has
brought him a bunch of stepchildren, all with the last name of Barrett. They
are Ruth L. 25 IN, John B. 22 IN, Arthur S. 18 IN and Edward S. 13 KS. He is a
son of Ansel Delos Putnam and was in Mercer County, Missouri in 1880. David and
Sarah Hensley his first wife were married in Cainsville
Harrison County Missouri in 1878. They were here in 1895 and 1900. David was
widowed here in 1910. He will die and Laura is in Los Angeles in 1930 and
Glendale, California in 1940 still widowed. New York Dutch family.

widow of William Ford Putnam from Barton County. She is now 64 NY and the
mother in law of Robert Shackelford 36 MO who married her daughter Rena 21 KS.
She was born in Wayne County New York March 9, 1855 and will die here December
29, 1938.

He is 22 KS and listed as
brother in law of Walter Bricker. Also here is Margaret Putnam 19 OR listed a
sister in law of Walter Bricker. George and Margaret are married and will be
here for the rest of their lives. Seems George was married briefly before to
Minerva Gossett who died February 27, 1919. He is a son of Israel P.
Putnam and Anne Belle Doty and as born in Layton, Rooks County December 24,
1899. They are here in
1930 and 1940 with kids.

Elizabeth Runkle his wife 21 IN and they have Betty C. 1 KS. He is the son of
Frederick Watson Putnam and Rose Osborne. He was born in Los Angeles July 26,
1890. Frederick is a son of Edwin Lombard Putnam and Emeline A. Wright. He was
born in Hinsdale, Sullivan County, New Hampshire. He was with his folks in
Brattleboro Vermont in 1900, and single in San Bernardino County California in
1910. He is a Captain in the U. S. Army and stationed here. They are in Los
Angeles in 1930 and he is an engineer for an oil company then. In 1940 they are
in Fort Worth Texas and he is an executive for an oil company. He will
eventually die in St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands July 10, 1970.
EARL R. PUTNAM Harrington, Greenwood County
He is 14 KS and a stepson of
William James. In 1910, he was in Topeka with his mother, Nellie Clark, and
they were living at her folks. Nellie married William Ray Putnam first, and she
is now married to Bill James. Earl is married in 1930 and is in Finney County
with his grandmother Ida Putnam.
CHARLES F. PUTMAN Holton, Jackson County
Jacob’s son is still here. He is
now 71 NY and Lydia E. Teague, his wife, 67 ENG (born in Yorkshire). He is a
son of Jacob D. Putman and Hannah Lewis from Cayuga County New York. He was in
Fayette County, Iowa in 1870, Graham County, Kansas in 1880 and Elk County,
Kansas in 1900. They are here through 1930 when he is 81 and she is 75. Dutch
family out of Montgomery County New York originally.

Charles F. His dad is Fred Putman (also nearby), and he was with the family in

Lyon County March 8, 1931. Laura was born in Daingerfield, Morris County Texas
September 14, 1858 and she will die here March 11, 1936.
FRED D. (DANIEL) PUTMAN Ivy, Lyon County
Sidney's son has been here a
long time. He is now 63 NY, Lydia E. Brown 59 PA, Ralph J. 30 KS and John H. 20
KS. In 1930 Ralph will be with his brother Sidney in Edwards County and they
will be running a garage. He is a son of Sidney Putnam and Lucy Ann Shepherdson
from Buffalo New York and in Breckenridge County by the 1850s. Fred and Lydia
are here through 1920. She will die here in 1928 and Fred will marry Adelia May
Davis and they are here in 1930. Adelia will die in 1932, not sure when Fred
does though.

He is
33 KS, Stella F. Scott his wife 27 KS and Florence Pearl 1 8/12 KS. He is a son
of Fred Daniel Putnam and Lydia Brown from here. He and Stella were married
here in 1912. They are in Edwards County in 1930. He’ll be running a garage.
Sidney was born September 17, 1886. OBITS has Stella as being born February 12,
1892 and dying in Belpre Kansas in May 1977.

of Charles Henry Putnam and Hannah Lodema Norman. He
was born in Benton County, Arkansas September 10, 1886, and was with his folks
in Chautauqua County, Kansas in 1900. They were just married in Adair County,
Iowa in 1910. He will be in Newton, Harvey County and remain there till he dies
in 1959. Eva will die here in 1968, both in Harvey County. The daughter Madge
was born in 1916 and will die here in 1929.

He is 34 GA and a lodger. I
would guess he is the son of Miles and Millie Putman in Bartow County, Georgia
in 1900 who was listed as Barksdale P. Putman age 15.
JAMES PUTMAN Miami County
He is 44 OH and with his brother
Wade. They are newcomers. Both are sons of James Franklin Putnam and Harriet E.
Brown from Washington County Ohio and were with that family there in 1880.
Their dad died August 16, 1887 and their mom remarried for the third time. He
and Wade and their two sisters were all single in Chicago in 1900.

He is 46 OH and living with his
brother James. Both are sons of James Franklin Putnam and were home in
Washington County, Ohio in 1880.

He is 3 KS and a nephew of
William Reeves. He is also shown at home with his dad Charles M. Putman in
Nowata County Oklahoma now. His mom died I guess and he is here as well as

20, 1908 and death in Lawrence Kansas on July 30, 1994.
ALBERT C. PUTMAN Sand Creek, Norton County
He is
27 KS, Eva Christine Howell 21 KS. His father, William Putman 65 IA, and mother
Amanda Davis 53 IN are with them. They have been here since the 1870s. Also
there are two nieces, Emily L. 8 OK and Bernice L. 3 4/12 OK. These must be
children of Alpheus, his brother, who is not around. Alpheus’ widow Ida May Kensler is in Wichita with her folks and will be in 1930.
William was born April 11, 1855 in Scott County Iowa and will die here in Sand
Creek on February 28, 1927. Amanda was born in Indiana September 17, 1866 and
will die here January 20, 1934. Amanda will be widowed in Sand Creek in 1930.
Albert and his family will be also here in Sand Creek. Albert was born June 29,
1892 and will die here July 24. 1975. Eva was born in Edmond, Norton County December
10, 1898 and will die here May 28, 1987 at age 88. New York Dutch Family.
JUSTIN E. (EDWIN) PUTMAN Downes, Osborne County
Here since the 1870s, he is 88
VT and Anna Prince 49 IA. He is a son of Reuben Putnam and Eleanor Abbott from
Vermont. He was born in Bethel, Vermont on March 25, 1831. He married Mary Ann
Stafford in Woodstock, Henry County, Illinois on December 15, 1859. They were
in Wabasha County Minnesota in 1870, Kane County Illinois before that. He and
Mary Ann were here in Smith County in 1885 and he was widowed here in Osborne
County in 1895. They were here since 1900. He will die shortly on August 2,
1920.
ARTHUR D. PUTNAM Natoma, Osborne
County
He is 11/12 KS and a grandson of
Letitia Gossett. George Welling Putnam who is now in Dodge City, Ford County is
presently married to Margaret. He was previously married to Melissa Gossett who
died February 27, 1919. Letitia is the mom of Minerva and took the kid when
Minnie died. I don't find Arthur later so he may well have died too.
WILLIAM PUTNAM Natoma, Osborne
County
He is 37 KS, Sadie Byerly his
wife is 37 KS and there are three Cooley stepchildren with them. Sadie was
obviously married to a Cooley. The kids are Hazel 12 KS, Henry 9 KS and Ethel 5
KS. He is William Clewey Putnam and was born 5 Apr
1889 here in Natoma, and will die 17 Jul 1942 in
Stockton, Rooks County Kansas. Also looks like Sadie (Sarah) was married two
times before Bill. He is a son of Israel Putman from here. His folks are in San
Diego, California now, and will be here in 1925 and 1930. William and Sadie
will be in Rooks County in 1930.
WALTER W. PUTNAM Haven, Reno County
He is 44 IA, Laura Eastman 35
KS, Clyde L. 12 and Bruce 2 8/12 KS. They were in Des Moines, Iowa in 1910,
where he was a barber. He married Laura here March 9, 1915. He is a son of
Samuel Deloss Putnam and Sarah Ockerman
from Ohio and then Mercer County, Missouri. They were in Nebraska in 1880 and
back in Iowa in 1900. He was in Des Moines, Iowa in 1910, and came here shortly
afterwards and will be here till he dies in Emporia in 1940. They are in Haven,
Reno County in 1930 and he is still a barber. Dutch family from New York
originally.
FLORA PUTNAM WILLIAMS Hutchinson, Reno County
Flora Gilmore was the wife and
now ex-wife of Emmet Putnam from Barton County. She has married Frank Williams
36 US here and has her kids with her. Flora is 38 IN, Genieve
16 KS, Torrance 13 KS, Coyle 11 KS, Duane 9 KS. I assume the last child's name
is Duane, but in the census it is spelled Duawaine.
Tough name to hang on the kid. Emmett seems to have moved to Kansas City,
Missouri and has a new wife and 3 year old son. Emmett
and his new wife Ella are in Salina, Kansas in 1925. I don’t find them anywhere
in 1930. Flora will be in single with the kids here in 1925 and then in Los
Angeles in 1930. The son Coyle is married in Los Angeles in 1930. He is a clerk
in a grocery store. Duane is there too and is single and boarding. He is an
automobile mechanic.
WILLIAM K. PUTNAM Hutchinson, Reno County
They were here in 1910. See that
listing for how he fits in here. He is 37 NY, Minnie (Minnie Lee Crawford) 37
MO, Carl 12 KS, Carrie 8 KS, Cassie 8 KS, twins. Also there is Minnie's mother,
Amanda Crawford 64 TN. They are in Reno in 1930 with Cassie. The others are
gone by then.

He is
Reding Senior’s son and is now 53 IL OH OH (should be

SC GA SC. They were in Fulton County, Illinois in 1850 (where he was born), in
Jasper County, Iowa in 1860 (where he married Mattie, his second wife), and in

of Edward Brady. There is a marriage record of Fred Putnam born in 1885 in
Kansas marring Mary Celelia Brady in 1907. So those
are her folks, but no clue where they are or who Freddy belongs to. She is here
in 1930 too.

Harrison's son is still around.
He is now 49 MA, Emily Margaret Belleville his wife 46 IL, Elliott B. 16 KS,
John E. Jr. 14 KS, Dwight K. 12 KS and Ernestine E. 8 KS. They have been here
since they were married in 1895. John will be widowed here in 1930. John was
born November 19, 1870 and will die here August 10, 1947. Emily was born June
13, 1873 and will die here December 8, 1929.The son Dwight was born April 4,
1908 and will die here February 20, 1997. He will marry Martha Eberhardt who
was born August 29, 1907 and will die here October 6, 1999. The son John Ernest
was born September 19, 1905 and will die here when the car he is in hits a
railroad train at a crossing on February 1, 1926.

He is Harrison's son and has
been here since the 1870s. He is now 63 MA, Lydia Russell. 55 OH. They never
had any kids. They are here still in 1930.

Ellsworth County. He is now 45 MA, Ellen F. 45 KS, Helen J. 19 KS, Harry 15 KS

are here in 1930.

She is 17 KS and a stepdaughter
of John Lennox and Minnie A. Lennox 41 KS who is her mom. Minnie A. Modest
married Theodore Daniel Putnam in Independence, Kansas in 1902 and they split.
Theodore was shown here by himself in 1910 and I don’t find him after that.

daughter of George Kensler. Ida May Kensler was married to Robert Putman from Canada in 1902

1930 and 1940, and longer.

Ohio in 1880. He married Ann in New York City August 9, 1883. William was born
while the Circus was on the road in Massachusetts. Ann then died July 9, 1891
in Bridgeport, Connecticut. William was ‘taken in’ by Leonard’s brother John
Putnam and his wife Caroline Cahoo and was living
with them as a nephew in Queens, New York in 1900. I haven’t found him yet in
1910 but maybe in Illinois where some kids were born. I think he was a wagon
driver. They will be in Long Beach California by 1930, and will be there till
they die. He will die there February 7, 1959 and Marguerite will die there
January 29, 1957.

She is 30 KS and a nurse. I
don't find her in 1900 or 1910 here in Kansas.
CLAUD PUTNAM Topeka, Shawnee County
He is 14 KS and a stepson of
William Summers. In 1910, he was here and living with his mother Irene and her
father David Baker. His dad was Ernest Putnam listed next.
ERNEST PUTMAN Topeka, Shawnee County
He is 36 NY and a lodger. He is
William Putnam and Ida Kenyon’s son from Barton County. He was married to Irene
Baker here in 1905 and they got divorced. She married William Summers and is in
Topeka with their son Claude listed earlier. He will be married shortly to a
girl named Opal Scherner and they are in Dickinson
County Iowa in 1925 and Finney County Kansas in 1930.

Mary Maria Dunmire
is Bennett Putman's widow, been here over 50 years. She is 82 PA and living
alone. Bennett was a son of Gideon Putnam and Sarah Barnes. He was born May 3,
1822 in West Nottingham, Rockingham County New Hampshire. They were married
here in Elm Creek, Breckenridge County on December 24 1857, and have been in
Topeka since the later 1800s.
HARRY W. (WELLS) PUTNAM Topeka, Shawnee County
He has been here since the 1910.
He is now 41 MA, Louise Gibson 39 IA, Gibson W. 11 KS, George H. 7 KS, James W.
5 KS and Caroline L. 2 KS. He is a dentist. Harry is a son of George Augustus
Putnam (2929) and Fannie Wells from Millbury, Mass. He married Louise in 1908
out here. They were here in 1910 and he will be here in 1930 with a new wife.
OBITS gives James’ birth date as August 4, 1914 and death in Emporia December
3, 1997.
GEORGE W. (WILLIAM) PUTNAM Harlan, Smith County
Justin's son is still here. He
is now 48 MN, Anna Matilda Rudy his wife 40 KS, Donald 23 KS, Roy (Daniel
LeRoy) 16 KS, Paul 15 KS and Ervin 7 KS. Donald will marry this year and be in
Osborne County. Same with Roy who will be over there as well. He is a son of
Justin Putnam and Mary Ann Stafford and was born in Lake City, Wabasha County
Minnesota in 1871, and came with the family to Smith County in about 1879. They
have been here ever since. They are here in 1930.

Still here. He is now 81 NY and
still alone as he has been since he and Mary got divorced. He is a son of Riley
Putnam (3355) from Chester, Vermont. Riley Sr. was a son of Jesse Putnam and
Lucy Coleman from Chester, Windsor County Vermont. William was born in
Charlotte, Chautauqua County New York on December 3, 1838. He married Mary E.
Humphries November 14, 1867. They were in Ringgold County Iowa in 1870 and here
in 1875 through 1895. Then the split or got divorced. She was here in town in
1910 but living with her son William Raymond Putnam. He is still here in 1925
at age 86.

They are still here. He is a son
of Justin Edwin Putnam and Mary Ann Stafford. Ed is 59 IL, Hannah J. 57 IL,
Callie M. 35 KS and Ruth M. 19 KS are home. He and Hannah are here in 1930.

sister in law with Julian McCormick. She would be Charlotte, daughter of
Allison Putman as shown in 1910.
ELMER R. (REVIER) PUTNAM Kansas City, Wyandotte County
He is 61 OH, Mary E. Woods his
wife 47 VA, Kenneth R. 23 MO and Luther C. 19 MO. They were in Daviess County
Missouri in 1900. He is a son of Luther Charles Putman and Lucy Ann Ewell from
Huron County Ohio and New York State before that. Dutch Family. They were in
Huron County Ohio in 1860 and then moved to Mercer County Missouri by 1870.
They were here in 1900 and 1910. Then, in 1930 the son Kenneth is in Albany
County New York and Elmer is with him. The son Luther Claude is in Fort Worth,
Texas and his mom is living with him. Elmer was born in Huron County Ohio
December 13, 1858, and will die in Kansas City, Missouri February 16, 1935. His
wife Mary will survive him. At that time in 1935 Elmer and Mary are living with
their son Luther and his family there in Kansas City.
LAWRENCE A. (ARTHUR) PUTMAN Kansas City, Wyandotte County
He is
26 PA and the son in law of John White. His wife Dorothy White is 19 KS. They
are here in 1930. He is a son of Stewart and Eliza Putman from Somerset County
Pennsylvania. German Family. He was born April 21, 1871 and will die in Shawnee
Kansas in February 1968.
