He married Maria Knight here on July 2, 1816. She will die February 8, 1845. Nathan is a lawyer, was postmaster in Adams, and had graduated from Williams College.

Listing is 100001 10001. He would be a son of David and Hannah. His wife is Lucinda Church. They were married April 8, 1834, and will be here again in 1850.
Listing is 22001 000001. His name is Jonathan Marcus Putnam, a son of David Putnam and Hannah Chaffe. He was born in Becket, Berkshire County in 1807. He will die in Becket October 27, 1855. The family is in Blanford, Hampden County. In 1860 Phebe and some of the kids are Dalton, Berkshire County.

He has now married Eliza Goodrich of Pittsfield on January 6, 1838. They will be here in 1850. He was a representative to the General Court.

The listing is 010001 110001. He is David Junior, a son of David Putnam and Hannah Chaffee from Becket. He is now married to Hannah Church who will die here July 3, 1849. He will be in Becket in 1850 with a brand-new second wife Betsy Clark from nearby Otis, Mass.

He started early in the shoe business and rose to become one of the largest manufacturers and wealthiest men in Peabody (part of Danvers then).

census. He is a son of David Putnam and Hannah Bailey and was born in
Charlestown, New Hampshire. His folks are in Malden Mass. now and have been for
a while.
Listing is 00100001 000000001. He is number 1980, and married to Dorothy Bailey. He was originally married to Nancy Peaslee and was born back in Danvers, a son of Benjamin Putnam (832) and Miriam Flint. He will be here again in 1850, and will die here in Haverhill August 27, 1850.
Listing is 000101 010101. He is number 3067, a son of Joseph Putnam (1465) and Mercy Giddings Whipple of Danvers and then Marblehead. He was born October 29, 1801, and is married to Mary Tucker.
These two cities didn’t get fully indexed, but there are or at least should be a few folks here. They should be two sons of James Putnam (1670) and Betsy Richardson. They are SAMUEL, and JOHN F. PUTNAM. They were here in 1830. In 1850 John will be listed in both Lynn and Saugus. His brother Samuel will be listed in Saugus also.

Listing is 0002001 0001001. He is William Mugford Putnam, a son of John Putnam (999) of Sutton and the Marblehead in 1790. John died and his wife Mary Mugford married Samuel Kimball and they were in Boxford in 1800 and 1810. Mary died there in Boxford April 23, 1847. This is the first and only time I see William. He was baptized in Marblehead January 19, 1794. I don’t know who he married.
Listing is 01001 01001. Indexed as Cyron. He is Aaron Lee Putnam, a son of Ward Putnam (1940) and Sarah Larabee. He was born in Danvers (his dad in New Hampshire) July 30, 1809. He has just married Rebecca Wells Knapp here on September 7, 1839. The two children shown are Timothy and Harriet Knapp from Rebecca’s first marriage. They will be here in 1850 with a couple of their own as well.

He married Rebecca Blanchard Bartlett here on March 4, 1831. The older woman is possibly Rebecca’s mother, the older kids belong to Rebecca from an earlier marriage with a Bartlett guy. Rebecca will be widowed here in 1850.

Listing is 01010001 1111101. He is number 854, a son of Stephen Putnam (317) and Susannah Herrick of Danvers. He was born November 17, 1780 and will die here in Salem January 18, 1866. He married Susanna Silver June 22, 1819. She was born April 17, 1800 and will die here June 25, 1872.
Listing is 001002 000011. He is William Richardson Putnam number 1542, a son of Daniel Putnam (641) and Susannah Putnam (852) from Danvers. He is married to Mary R. Phelps and is managing a farm over here. Mary will die in 1850 and he will move back to Danvers and take over the family farm. He is back there with his folks in the 1850 census. He will then marry Ruby Kimball Griffin March 30, 1854. They are in Danvers in 1860. Ruby will die March 20, 1873 and he will marry her sister Sarah R. Phelps April 22, 1879 and they will be in Red Wing Minnesota by the 1880. He will die there September 8, 1886 and Sarah on March 28, 1892.
Listing is 00001 10001. He is a son of Israel Putnam (1347) and Ruth Wilkins of Guilford, Vermont. He was born there June 12, 1811. He married Maria Warner September 5, 1837. They will be here in 1850 and 1860. She’ll die in 1866, and he will marry Laura Hurd in 1868. He’ll be here until he dies in 1891.

He first married Relief Houston Dispean who died in about 1820. He then married Phebe Williams who is here now. He has been in Grafton for a while now after returning from New York as a child. He is a scythe manufacturer.

He married Lydia Pierce here in January 1806. She will die in 1815, and he will marry Mrs. Rhoda (Childs) Smith. She’ll last till 1873.
Listing is 0000001 100001. He is probably Daniel junior number 1817 or better 1817a. There was a son Daniel who died as an infant in 1800. I believe this is a second son of the same name (quite common then). The IGI has him born about 1805. Eben was vague on this family. In 1830 his widowed mom had a son, actually two, the right age to be this guy. This Daniel married Sophronia E. Chamberlain here August 17, 1836. They will be in Orange, Franklin County in 1850.

Listing is 00001 100010001. He is Joseph Kellogg Putnam, number 1827. He was a son of Joseph Putnam (752) and Hannah Kellogg. He was born in Orange May 10, 1813. He married Sophia Preston Bishop here April 8, 1835.
Listing is 0001001 002. He is number 1820, a son of Samuel Putnam (751) and Hepzibah Pierce. He was born in New Salem September 2, 1794. He married Abigail Cook in New Salem in 1825, but she seems to have died recently. He will have a new wife Mary here in 1850.

Listing is 000001 00001. He is number 1826, a son of Joseph Putnam (752) and Hannah Kellogg. He was born in New Salem February 9, 1810 and will die July 19, 1877. His wife Sylvia Smith.
Listing is 1213501 2000002. He is number 1819, his wife Julia Holden. He operates a mill here with his brother and father Samuel (751). All these zillion guys work there and are in company housing of sorts.
Listing is 1000001 0110101. Best bet is that he is number 2725, a son of Aaron Putnam (1219). If so, he was born in Sutton December 12, 1794, and is married to Frances ‘Fanny’ Sibley.
Listing is 00000001 00001001. Eben didn’t give him a number in the 6th generation, but listed him as 1498 in the 7th generation. As 1498 was assigned to someone else (Ruth) in the earlier generation, we are labeling him as 1498a. He is a son of Abner Putnam (616) and Abigail Waters. Both Abner and Abigail have died in the 1830s. His wife is Susan Miller. They are here in 1850 and till they die in the early 1870s.
Listing is 00001 00011. He is James Allen Putnam, a son of Joel Putnam from Becket, Berkshire County. He was born September 14, 1815 in Becket and will die here on June 23, 1842. In 1850 his wife, Betsy Chapin, is widowed here with some kids born in the early 1840s.
Listing is 000241 0002. In 1850, we see he is married to Julia Buxton (married here December 8, 1843). He either runs a rooming house, or has a bunch of boarders living with him. He is a son of James Putnam and Marcia Cox. James was a son of Abner Putnam (616) and Abigail Waters from Ludlow. He was born there June 23, 1813. He was with his widowed mom in Ludlow in 1820. He will be here till he dies in 1881.
Listing is 2000011 000001. Index lists him as Cyrus, but he is a son of Joel and Sally Putnam from Becket, which is only a few miles away. He is Sardis Barnes Putnam, born in Becket January 22, 1807. He married Dorcas Starr here in Middlefield on July 3, 1834. They will be moving shortly to Dalton, Berkshire County and then in about 1846 head out to Mentz, Cayuga County, New York. The family is there in 1850. The eldest male is probably a brother.

Listing is 000021 010001. He is a son of Gideon Putnam (1877) and Sarah Barnes of Nashua, New Hampshire. His wife is Sarah Dean. They will be in Cambridge in 1850.
Listing is 10001 00001001. He is Artemas Junior, born here November 27, 1814. He married Sarah Priest here in Cambridge on August 22, 1837. The woman in the right hand column would be his mother, Mehitable Simons Putnam. His father, Artemas (1013) has died recently it seems. I gave this line in 1810. Artemas and Sarah will be moving shortly to Portland, Maine and will be there for the 1850 Census.
Listing is 00001 00101. He is a son of Lewis Putnam. His folks were here in Boston in 1820 and in Cambridge by 1830. He married Mary Ann Burdakin here on October 24, 1839. They will be here in 1850 through 1870, and then in Reading by 1880, where he will die. The younger girl is his sister Mary. His dad Lewis died in East Cambridge September 17, 1834.

He studied law and then became a Congregationalist minister at a seminary in North Andover. He moved to Portsmouth, New Hampshire and was ordained there in 1815. They will be here in 1850 and 1860 and then move to Maine. Sophia will eventually return to Washington, New Hampshire where she will die in 1879. The kids will all stay in the greater Boston area. Most of them never married. This line goes back Mason > Reuben > Nehemiah > Elisha > Edward > Thomas > John Putnam.

She has been here a while now. I have no record of a divorce, maybe she just left him. The kids have been here a while. John seems to have married a gal named Mrs. Sarah Priest Capron in Jaffrey in 1822. They had two more kids, John and Lorenzo. Anna however is going to apply for a pension based on John’s service in the Revolution. I really have no idea what’s going on here. Pray to God that there aren’t two Johns here.

Listing is 010024 003001. She is Rebecca Carter, wife of Miles Putnam, a son of Gideon Putnam number 1877. Seems she had a little affair with the local minister and Miles became jealous and left for ‘parts unknown.’ He left town in 1834, not to be heard from, at least by his father Gideon. She’ll be here till the 1860s, and then go to Newton to live with her daughter Lucy Elizabeth.
