Census Reports
===============
UPDATED
JUNE 17, 2022
The
1870 Census in Massachusetts was a mess. Dozens and Dozens of Putnams were
overlooked, miss-indexed or just lost. Suffolk and Worcester Counties were the
worst hit. Most of the folks here in 1860 are still here and will re-emerge in
1880.
He is
35 MA, Addie (Adelaide Osborne Cook) 30 MA, Nellie F. (Flint) 6 MA and Abbie C.
(Cook) 11/12 MA. He is a son of Adrian Putnam (2001) and Fanny Flint of
Danvers. He was born there August 29, 1834 and married Addie here in
Provincetown (December 18, 1860), where he was a teacher and is now a jeweler.
Provincetown has long been a community for artsy-craftsy folks, and looks like
Lewis was a charter member. They will be here in 1880 with more kids.
He is
44 NY and works in a shoe factory. His wife Mary is 34 MA, Maria 10 RI. Can’t
find him in NY or RI or MA at any time. Take a look at the 1880. They look like
the Mason and Mary here in Adams then.
He is

VT. He is a son of Jonathan and Reliance Putnam, and was in Pittsfield in 1850.

only Mary D. 14 MA is still at home.
He is
70 MA, a laborer and boarding. Since he has never been reported in a census
before, I am not sure who his folks are. But, in 1880 he is living with Joel
and Sally in a Poor House, so he must belong to the elder Joel and Sally who
were the folks of the Joel and Sally he’s with in 1880.

Marcus’s son, and was here in 1860. He is now 26 MA and married. Mary Jane Cady
