Hampshire, and were in Francestown New Hampshire in
1910. She was born there April 4, 1905 and will die May 18, 2004. She married
Hollis Eldridge and was living in Brewster on the Cape in 1998 and is buried in
Orleans.

and 1920. Henry was a son of Amos Adams, son of Amos Adams (1759) from
Winchester, New Hampshire. The son Donald was born July 31, 1928 and will die
here January 11, 2009.

and here in 1920.

three draft records which reveal his birth date is 6 Apr 1893. One draft
record has his birth in Boston and the other two say Fitchburg. Alice Porter
was a daughter of William and Rose Porter of Dalton. Shewas
born in Cheshire December 28, 1892 and will die here in Pittsfield in 1976.
Then I find a sheet for Alice that states “William was abandoned as an infant
at a Catholic Church and the Nuns there gave him his name.” So he more than
likely isn’t a Putnam at all. From an obituary, Winthrop Edward was born
December 21, 1923 in Dalton and will die in Pittsfield May 16, 2010. He served
in the Navy in WWII from September 26, 1942 till January 25, 1946. He then
married Mildred S. Studley here June 12, 1948. He was
in the Pittsfield Fire Department for 23 years and retired in 1974.

son Ralph E. 23 NY and his wife Jane G. 24 MA, another son Clyde F. 33 NY and
his wife Estella 38 MA. They have been here since 1900. In 1880 there were
three possible guys that could fit, so not certain.

River Home for the Aged. She was married to Frederick Stillman Putnam in East
Hartford, Connecticut in 1900.

back in Herkimer County New York in 1900 and was also back there in 1920 with
wife number two. He is a son of Nicholas Putman from

He is now 72 NY NY NY and a merchant. His widowed sister Adelia Draper 79 NY NY NY is living with him. He is a son of Hiram Putnam and Electa Ann Robbins of Brooklyn. Hiram is number 1414, a son
of David Putnam and Jeanette Angus of Albany. He was single on Staten Island in
1900, and in Manhattan, New York City in 1910. In 1920 he was living with
Adelia and her husband C. H. Draper in Morristown, New Jersey.

her mother Ada 35 MA and her new husband Samuel Lowe. Ada was living with her
folks in 1920 so no clue as to the Putnam husband.

is another son of Wilbur and Mary Putnam and was here with her in 1900 and
1910. He was briefly married to Ada Shepard and divorced by 1920 when he was up
in Boston by himself. In 1940 he is in a Veteran’s Reservation (whatever that
is) in Chelsea, Maine. He’ll be here and still alone in 1942 when he registered
for the draft in WW II and was still working for Hathaway Advertising.

metal worker. He is a son of Charles Willis Putnam here in town. He was home in
1920 and got married in 1926. He and Helen are in Montgomery County Alabama by
1935 and are there in 1940 where they work in a grocery store.

1920 but probably up here.

daughter of John Augustus Putnam and Martha Smith. She was born in Danvers in
1858, and never married. She will die in 1934.

a son of Francis Parker Putnam and Eliza Jane Felt of Rumford, Oxford County,
Maine. He married Amy Mabel Reed in 1888, but was single in the 1900. He and
Nellie or Nettie were here in 1910 and 1920.

Mass. Her folks died and she was with her grandmother there in 1920. She is
also listed in New Haven Connecticut as an assistant professor in the law school

She never married, and was here with her uncle Calvin in 1900, and in
Salem in 1920.

women with her. Annette Pittman was the wife of Elmer Otis Putnam from here.
Her kids are all living with her son Otis’ wife Mary Putnam here in town. Elmer
died here October 6, 1921. Nettie was born in Benton, Yarmouth County Nova
Scotia August 7, 1876 and will die here February 23, 1944.

he was married at 25. At any rate, he is a son of Edward Austin Putnam and
Adeline Augusta Dodge. He married Grace Augusta Potter June 23, 1897, but it
didn’t work out I guess as he was at home with his folks in Beverly in 1900 and
single in Middleton in 1920.

here. Carl was born August 23, 1894 in Danvers and will die in Lynn September
6, 1961. Florence was born in Lee Massachusetts October 18, 1866 and died in
Peabody May 2, 1958.

too embarrassed to admit they were divorced.

is the widow of Webster Putnam. They were here in 1900 and 1910 and she was
widowed here in 1920. Webster was the son of Thomas Meady
Putnam (2065) from here.

single. His mother Martha 83 MA is still with him, but his dad has died in the
past decade. He is a son of James Warren Putnam and Martha Hinxman.
James Warren was the son of William Putnam (3063) from here in Danvers.

is 51 MA. Both are still single and will always be I guess. They are sons of
John Milton Putnam (1535) and Martha Brown from here.

Putnam from here. They were here in 1920. Nathaniel was a son of George Osgood
Putnam and Sarah Butler from Danvers and died here in 1923. Laura is a daughter
of Emory Gibbs and Henrietta Ripley. She will be around till she dies in 1984.

Loretta C. is 32 MA. He is the son of James Warren Putnam (the son of William
Putnam 3063) and Martha Ann Hinxman. He was born here.
This is
a confusing listing. I’m putting it down as shown, and then will try and
explain it. Mary is 31 MA MA MA
and says she has been married since she was 19. Then there are Shirley A.
sister 7 MA, Otis F. brother 6 MA, K. Maxine sister 3 MA, Lillian sister in law
24 MA MA CAN, Ruth A. sister in law 16 MA MA CAN and Robert E. brother 16 MA MA
CAN. Okay go back to the 1920 listing for Elmer Otis Putnam (from Mass) and his
wife Nettie Pittman (from Nova Scotia). Robert, Lillian and Ruth are their
kids. They also had a son Otis F. who would be 32 now. Then right after him was
Mary and she was listed as a boarder. She just had to be Otis’ wife. The three
youngsters are not brothers and sisters, but are children of Otis and Mary.
Mary is listed earlier as being widowed and is a matron at an old folks home.
Makes sense this way. Anyway, Elmer was a son of Otis Flint Putnam and Adeline
Batchelder, and was born here in Danvers.

76 ME and still widowed as she has been since the 1890s. Milly McPheters was
married to Franklin Weston Putnam (number 2084). Also here are her widowed son
Ralph Franklin Putnam 59 MA and his daughters Isabel S. 27 MA and Margaret S.
24 MA. Ralph was married to a Mary here until 1920 when he was widowed. He is a
plumber, and both daughters are public school teachers

farm. His wife Audrey Pearl Goodrich is 26 MA. They have been married 6 years
and have Gloria V. 5 MA, Betty J. 4 MA and Virginia 1 MA. He is a son of Walter
Scott Putnam and Susan Maria Butman and was born in
Wenham, Essex County Massachusetts February 19, 1899, with the family in
Danvers, Essex County Massachusetts in 1900 and back in Wenham through 1920 and
then married in Danvers in 1930. Danvers and Wenham are only a couple miles
apart. He will die in South Hampton. Audrey was born in Beverly, Massachusetts
November 10, 1903 and will die in Amesbury, Essex County Massachusetts July 18,
1984. Ralph will die in 1962 and both are buried in South Hampton Cemetery They
are in South Hampton, Rockingham County New Hampshire in 1940 and he will be
building boats then.

Gertrude Zelma Durant 63 VT and now a widow. She still has Marian G. 31 MA,
Pauline 30 MA and Valerie 28 MA at home. She was married to Edward Marshall
Putnam here from the 1890s till recently. He was the son of Marshall Putnam
(2791) from Croydon, New Hampshire.

NH VT) and his wife Emma Frances Hatch is 36 MA too. They now have Guinivere 15 MA, Cortland 13 MA, Glendon 11 MA and Edward 1
6/12 MA. He is a son of Edward Marshall Putnam and Gertrude Durant. He was born
here in Haverhill. They were here in 1920. He is a foreman at a freight depot.
The young Edward Marshall Putnam is the father of Ed Putnam who has and is
doing so much work on the genealogy of this family. Edward died Tuesday
December 2, 2008 at age 80.

Albert Lane 50 MA and their family. He is a son of Danforth Putnam, son of
William Putnam (1819) from Orange. He has been married to Delia Fisher in

married Esther down here in Revere (next town over) October 11, 1919. She was
from Nova Scotia, and I guess they went back up there for a while and then came
back down here.

Perley Putnam. They were here in Lynn in 1900 and 1910. Perley was a son Perley
Z. M. P. Putnam, who is the son of Perley (2200). He was born in Salem.

is 33 MA and they now have Erma L.12 MA, Ruth E. 10 MA, Earl J. Jr. 8 MA and

them here in 1900, and then in 1910 with his mom and stepfather. He married
Gladys here in Lynn on January 27, 1917.

Christie Creelman from Middle Stewiacki, Nova Scotia.

born there November 25, 1893. He is still single in Beverly, Essex County in
1935 and 1940. He will later marry Fredia James and
be here in Peabody the rest of their lives.

His dad then married Millie McPheters and then died himself October 28, 1882.
He was with his widowed stepmother Millie in Danvers in 1900, single in Saugus
in 1910 and then married there in 1920.

is 43 MA. His widowed mother Marianna Waldron 86 NH is now living with them.
Marianna was married to George Franklin Putnam from here through the 1920.
George was a son of Orrin Putnam, who is the son of Matthew (1993). He is originally from Danvers, then moved to
New Hampshire in the 1860s, and was back here by the late 1880s.

farmer. Perley Tapley is a son of Jesse Putnam and Ella Mitchell and was born
in Lynnfield January 14, 1890, and was with them in Lynnfield in 1910. Jesse
was the son of Asa Tapley Putnam and Mary Gentlee of
Lynnfield. His new wife Ethel Greenfield is 31 MA and still has his son Perley
13 MA. Ethel has two kids last name Buttrick, and a
widowed mother Alice Greenfield 56 MA with her. He married Ethel September 15,
1928. In 1920 he was in Wakefield with his first wife Ethelyn Chandler and a
couple of kids. Ethelyn has their kids and is married to Herbert Buttrick back in Wakefield now in 1930. Ethel was married
to Herbert Buttrick and they were in Wakefield in
1920 with their two kids. This turns out to be a case of two couples switching
spouses. In each case the mom took her kids to the new household. Interesting!
Perley and Ethel are in Reading, Middlesex County by 1935 and there in 1940.

16 MA, Madison 11 MA and Louise 7 MA. He is a son of Ralph C. Putnam and Susan
E. Clark. He was at home here in 1900 and just married here in 1920. From her
obituary, the daughter Louise was born May 11, 1922. She married George E.
Girard. They lived here in Marblehead where he was Chief of Police for years.
She worked at the Lynn District Court for 17 years through 1987. She died
January 9, 2012 at age 89. He died before her.

and have Jane S. 6/12 MA. Also here are his folks Ralph Putnam 57 MA and Susan

England. James Hervey Putnam is his stepfather. Arthur changed his name to
Putnam when adopted.

Springfield with his daughter Anna. In 1920 they are here in Longmeadow. Dutch
family out of New York State.

Putnam and Mary Murphy. The family was in Orange in 1880 and Athol in 1900.

a physician in 1910. Perhaps the "physician" was an error by the
census taker as she was a housekeeper in 1900 and a masseuse in 1920, although
the latter is difficult to read. We do not see Emma after this.

Brunswick, NY, so the VT is incorrect as well. The WWII draft has Edwin's
middle name as Newman and he will die on 17 Mar 2015 in Wilbraham, MA. He will
marry Evelyn Lon Dickerson but I am not sure when. Anna Vivian Sellfors was born 25 Mar 1889 in NY but Ancestry has several
options for parents. She died on 9 Jul 1975 in Holyoke, MA. She married Errol
Clayton Putnam on 12 Jul 1923 in Whittingham, VT. He will die on 20 Oct
1983 in Southbridge, MA.

Julia Puttnam from Montgomery County Pennsylvania.
They were there in 1880. John and Anna were in Hampden County in 1910. Their
dad is nearby in Longmeadow now at age 91 NY.

Ohio Sunday March 27, 2001. He married Caroline Wright here in Northampton
August 23, 1952. She was still alive when he died. His brother Richard and wife
Virginia were both alive in March 2011 as well.

York City. She was born in New York City on March 1, 1872 and will die here on

Putnam Publishing Company that his dad started back in the 1830s. She has been
teaching here since the early 1900s. She is here in 1940.

1929. Their mom Edith Haskell Bellows is currently in Brooklyn, New York
teaching high school and says she is single. She will be in Newton,
Massachusetts in 1940 and says she is widowed then. I am guessing that they
split sometime in the 1920s and Edith went off to New York City. Who knows?
Lenox was born in Spencer June 10, 1906 and will die in Pembroke, Massachusetts
March 12, 1997. Then as to the brothers, Richard was born November 5, 1910 and
will marry Eldora Javery and die in Wolfeboro, New
Hampshire September 24, 1990. Eldora will die in Boston November 4, 1973. David
was born July 3, 1916 and will marry Marion Glidden and die in Washington DC
January 8, 1999, Marion will die there March 18, 2000.

will also die here in 1943. The daughter Dorothy will marry Karl N. Myers and
the daughter Barbara will marry Graham A. Griffin.

1925. Amy is a daughter of Fred Wheeler Trumbull and Myra Clifton McClutchins. She was born in Natick March 18, 1889. They
are here in 1940 and will be for the rest of their lives. Charles will die here
November 26, 1958, and Amy will die here July 23, 1968.

from Knox County, Maine. Zenas was a son of Daniel and Nancy Putnam from

Malden through the 1950 and will die here in 1955. Melville will marry Marion
Rendall in 1933 and have a son Frederic L. in 1941. He will die in the late
summer of 1963. Myrtie is here by herself in 1940.

sister Maud Egan. She says she has been married 12 years but doesn’t have a
husband now and wasn’t shown in 1920. The son Richard’s obituary in 2008 in
Florida states his parents were John G. Putnam and Katherine F. Egan. In 1910
there is a John G. Putnam age 22 who is a son of Charles Putnam and Mary Bergen
of Worcester. The age is right and I’ll bet this is Kate’s hubby. Okay this was
a god guess. In 1940 John Putnam is back in the house with his wife Katherine
Egan, their two kids and still living here with Katherine’s sister Maud. And
yes, John is the son of Charles L. Putnam and Mary E. Bergen. John George
Putnam was born on May 26, 1887 in Worcester, Worcester County Massachusetts.
John will die in October 1940 at the age of 53 in Portland, Cumberland County
Maine., He was buried here in Marlborough. John George Putnam and Katherine
Frances Egan were married in 1918 in Massachusetts. Katherine is a daughter of
Michael J. Egan and Catherine Desmond, was born on June 21, 1886 in Marlborough
and will die on April 20, 1967 at the age of 80 here in Marlborough. Nice to
see guesses pay off, and thanks to Rand Putnam for finding the info that proves

was born May 6, 1900 in Randolph, Orange County Vermont. He married Alice Ethel
Jackson in New Hampshire August 24, 1918 and that sure didn’t last long. He is
still with the Feds in Seattle, Washington in 1940. He will try marriage again
with Lyn Mouso in Seattle September 13, 1940 and die
in Long Beach, California in October 1880.

MA. She is a housekeeper for a family and he is a
counterman in a restaurant. She says she is married, but has been separated
from Jesse Putnam from Lynnfield since the 1910. She was in Wakefield with
Herbert and three other kids in 1920. Jesse was back with his mother in Wenham
then and is still there now by himself. He too says he is married. The son
Herbert will marry Eleanor Louise Carragher in a few years and be in Malden
before 1940.

public school teacher. They are daughters of John Putnam and Amanda White. They
were home with their widowed mother in Winthrop, Kennebec County Maine in 1900
and 1910. There is a record, I think, of John Putnam marrying Amanda in October
1876, but I can’t find them in 1880 and have no idea who John was. They are
here in 1940.

Henry Putnam and Harriet Jemima Freeman were married on August 28, 1893 in
Worcester. Harriet was a daughter of Elisha Freeman and Harriet N. Allen, was
born on June 12, 1869 in Worcester. She died on March 22, 1921 at the age of 51
in Worcester County. She is buried in Hope Cemetery in Worcester, Worcester
County. George is here in 1940 still widowed.

then back in Chelsea, Mass. in 1900 with his first wife Georgia Smith. She must
have died and he then married Altina. Altina was born in Salem, Massachusetts December 13, 1862.
She first married Charles Leonard in 1881 in Boston. They were in New Orleans in 1910 and then in
Boston again in 1920. Ed will die here in 1934, and Altina
is widowed here in 1940.

Garfield Putnam is a son of Charles G. Putnam and Eleanor Cassandra ‘Cassie’
Welch from Grantham, Sullivan County New Hampshire. He was born there and with
the family in 1910 and 1920. George was born February 15, 1905 and died in
Boston in November 1973. Marion was born February 5, 1910 and died in South
Weymouth on April 8, 2000 at age 90. According to a descendant they will have a
son Donald George Putnam born May 30, 1930 and will die May 22, 1994 in South
Weymouth, Massachusetts. He married Barbara Ann Spaulding and they had 8 kids.
All three are in the Dorchester section of Boston in 1940 where he will be a
baker in a bakery.

64 NH VT IA and his wife Elizabeth Roach 49 CAN. He is a freight broker for the
railroad. The Railway Express Agent. They were in Medford in 1900 and here in
1920 and will be in 1940. According to their 1897 marriage record his parents
were John H. and Mary Putnam and he was born in Charlestown, New Hampshire.
Elizabeth was a daughter of James and Catherine Roach from Prince Edward
Island.

Edward and Flora Putnam from Winthrop, Kennebec County Maine. He was married

is also listed at the U. S. Naval Hospital in Chelsea where he is a staff
dentist.

with them in Hyde Park in 1910. Charles was a son of Albert Putnam and Cordelia
Ballou from Halifax, Windham County, Vermont. He was up there in 1870 and 1880
and married in Hyde Park in 1900. I don’t find any of them in 1920. They are in
the Hyde Park section of Boston in 1940.

over the place. He is a son of Lawson Putnam (2170) and Martha Inman of
Millbury, Mass. He married Ida in Boston July 27, 1876, and they were in
Taunton, Bristol County in 1880. He and Ida and the kids were in Cambridge in
1900 and in Dedham in 1910. They were separated in 1920. She was in Stoneham,
and he was alone in Boston in 1920. Wilmot will die in 1934. Ida is widowed
here in 1940. He and Ida are buried in Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxboro
Massachusetts.

then here. He is married to Grace Lorrey in Lowell
about 1931 and they are there in 1935 and 1940.

is wrong. She is a daughter of Perley and Evelyn Putnam and was with them in
Wakefield in 1920. The folks divorced. Her mom is listed next with three of her
sisters and her dad has also remarried and is in Lynnfield.
Okay,

live with their mother Ethelyn Louise Chandler 32 MA and her new husband
Herbert A. Buttrick. They both have been married
before. Ethelyn was married to Perley Putnam here in 1920. He has also
remarried and is in nearby Lynnfield. Okay, ready? Herbert Buttrick
was married here in 1920 to an Ethel and they had two kids. The two couples
simply got divorced and exchanged wives and kids. Ethelyn has Perley’s kids and Perley and Ethel have her two Buttrick kids. Kinda merger
thing. Interesting.

Boutwell 36 MA. Florence Marie Chandler was married to Willard Putnam here in
1920 and they were living with his brother Perley. Seems everyone split up
about 6-7 years ago. Florence divorced Willard and married Ernest 5 years ago.
In fact they live in the same duplex as Herb and Ethelyn. Willard died in 1923.
Young Willard was born Sunday September 23, 1923 and will die in Southborough,
Massachusetts Tuesday August 21, 2012. He will marry Marjorie Wheaton, serve in
WWII and be the Town Accountant of Southborough.

Marlborough June 14, 1876 and died July 7, 1939. It then had Winifred being
born in Southborough, Worcester County January 17, 1877 and died in Watertown
June 30, 1977. Winnie is widowed here in 1940 but the listing is under Walter
who had died by then.

Jemima Nichols from Brookline. He was at home there in 1900 and married in

suburbia. They are in Milton, Norfolk County in 1940.

is 64 MA and widowed. She is listed as an aunt with Chester Nicole.

F. Putnam a son of Herbert Putnam and Annie Laura Church Neal. They were in
Medford in 1900, then in Worcester County in 1910 and back in Medford in 1920.
Roy will be in Melrose in 1940 and will work around there then go to Yarmouth,
Massachusetts and then in 1996 to Merritt Island, Florida and die there April
18, 2010 at age 106 plus. Not bad!

31 MA and an automobile salesman. His wife Gertrude A. is 31 MA and his widowed
mother Beulah 56 NH is with them. There are also 2 servants with them. Beulah
Ardella Cate was married to Walter A. Putnam. Walter was the son of Albert Romanzo Putnam (son of John Adams, son of John Adams, son
of Aaron from Leaflet V.1, p. 56.) and Carrie E. Smith from Enfield, New
Hampshire. They were in Medford in 1900, Brookline in 1910 and Belmont in 1920.
Beulah and Robert are in Boston in 1935 and 1940 and Robert has a new wife
Catherine by then.

her folks Henry and Mary Theresa Perkins. She has been married 6 years and no
sign of a husband.

are all in the Bronx, New York City where he is also a physician. He and Imarita will split and return to Pennsylvania. Tracy will
later marry Elizabeth McCafferty and they will move to Los Angeles California
and stay there till she dies May 16, 1973 and he will die there March 29, 1975.

41 MA, his wife Laura V. Diehl is 40 MA. And they have
Shirley 8 MA, Barbara 5 MA, Nancy 3 MA and Deborah 1 MA. He is a son of Wilmot Putnam and Ida Morse.
He was here in Dedham with them in 1910. Looks like his folks ‘split up.’ His
mom is in Stoneham and his dad is back in Boston by himself. The folks are back
together in Stoneham by 1930 though. Laura will die here in 1952. Milo will die
August 17, 1967 in Riverside County California. He will be buried along with Laura
beside his folks in Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxborough Massachusetts.

of Charles Gideon Putnam 1974 and Elizabeth Jackson of Boston) and Marian Cabot

have Henry 23 FRANCE, Elliot 22 MA and Sumner 20 MA. He is the son of Henry
Ware Putnam (3157) and Florence Thwing of Boston. He
was single in Cambridge in 1900, and married Marguerita
there in 1903. They were in Hingham in 1910 and here in 1920. The son Henry was
indeed born in France. Elliot was studying architecture there at the time. The
son Henry Ware Putnam will marry Kate Davis Pulitzer September 18, 1941. Her
grandfather was the journalist that the Pulitzer Price was posthumously named
for. He was born in France February 2, 1906 and will die in WWII in air combat
over Japan on May 25, 1945. Kate was born October 13, 1916 and will die March
5, 2003 in Scarborough, Maine. After Henry’s death she married General Elwood
Quesada on October 12, 1946.

Jennie L. Welch from there. Milon’s folks were John
C. Putnam and Mehitable Jane Weston from Lisbon. They
were here in 1910 and 1920. Lilla is widowed all the way across the Country in
San Diego County California by 1940. Since Clarence was in the Navy I guess he
was sent out there as there a several Navy Yards there.

67 MA MA MA and is a
draftsman at a scale company. His wife Alice Loring Bailey is 50 TN. He is a son
of Nathan Bond Putnam and Isabelle Hammond from Franklin County. He was married
to Emma Sisson and they were in Holyoke, Hampden County in 1900 and Northampton
in 1910. By 1920, Emma was by herself with their daughter Lillian in
Springfield, and Clesson was in Groton Connecticut
with his new wife Alice then in 1920. Emma is still in Springfield now in 1930.
Clesson will die in 1935 and be buried in Athol,
Massachusetts in the Silverlake Cemetery. Alice will be around there in 1940.

1920. He is the son of Flavius Joseph Putnam and Sylvia Bissell Alden. He was
born in Ludlow, Massachusetts on January 21, 1860. He was shown in Windsor
Locks Connecticut in 1850, and in Ludlow, Hampden County in 1870. He and his
first wife Addie Bacon were in Woonsocket, Rhode Island in the 1880s till about
1909 when she died. He married Mary in 1917.

is 50 SCOT and now widowed. Isabella Souden was
married to Harry Edward Putnam here for a long time and through the 1920. She
still has Raymond 21 MA and Robert 25 MA at home. Her married daughter Isabella
23 MA is at home. Last name is Souden so she probably
married a cousin. Then there are two granddaughters Dorothy 5 MA and Roberta 2
MA last name Putnam, they belong to Robert and his wife Ellen and they are all
here in 1940.

William was in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1900 and then in the Bronx New York
in 1910. They were in Medfield, Massachusetts by 1920. Carrie is widowed in
1940 and is back in Brooklyn with the kids.

Stephen R. 11 MA. He is a son of William Peleg and Mabel Dow Putnam. He was
born in Searsport, Maine October 26, 1884 and came down here with the family in
the latter 1880s. They were in Boston in 1900 and William was married there in
1910 and 1920. He will die here in Quincy November 11, 1964. He married Adeline
in Boston June 2, 1909. She is a daughter of Aaron Hambro and Leanora Polak and was born in Boston June 15, 1887 and will die
here in Quincy August 10, 1968. They are here in 1940.

at a bank. His wife Florence M. Tucker is 56 MA. This is the Eben Putnam who wrote the 1907 and
1908 books on the History of the Putnam Family, and the guy that assigned all
these numbers to most of these folks. He married Florence here in 1890, and
then went to Burlington, Vermont about 1898 working for a publishing company.
He then went back to Salem around 1905 and got his books together. They were
here in Wellesley in 1910 and 1920. He is a son of Frederick Ward Putnam and
Adelaide Edmands of Salem and then Cambridge.
He is
64 MA MA MA and is a
leather importer. His wife Isabelle S. Kerr is 69 MA. He is the son of John
Howard and Antoinette Putnam of Revere. He was born September 23, 1865 and will
die out in Santa Barbara, California January 8, 1963 at 98 years. He was there
at home in 1880, and here since 1910.

State Insane Asylum as he was in 1920 and will be in 1940. He was listed as
Aden then and I couldn’t figure him then or now.

He is number 2647 in Eben's book, a son of Asahel Putnam (1178) and his third
wife Thankful Frances of Newport, New Hampshire. They have been here since 1910
and will be in 1940.

niece of George and Eleanor Guild.

is 35 MA and has a daughter Gretchen 11 MA. She says she has been married 12
years, but he’s not around. In 1920 she was married to Ralph Putnam in New
Bedford.
You’ll
see several Putnam entries that can’t be tied up to earlier listings. I have
the feelings they may not be Putnams at all. There has been a huge group of Pitmans from Maine and Nova Scotia in the area for years.
They have also been in the Essex County listings as well. I think a lot of
these uncertain Putnams are probably Pitmans.

who was married to Albert Sewell Putnam from Danvers. They were here in 1900
and 1910 and she was widowed here in 1920. Her two sisters Janet and Mary are

all NY, he was in Charlestown New York. Otherwise not a clue.

son of George W. Putnam and Maria Martin of Worcester. He was born there
January 16, 1890 and was home there in 1900 and 1910 and single here in 1920.
Annie
is 51 NH MA NH and her sister Ethel is 49 NH MA NH. They are both bookkeepers
and single. They are daughters of William Henry Putnam and Mary Frances Robbins
from Litchfield, Hillsborough County New Hampshire. William Henry Putnam was a
son of Osgood Putnam (2122) and Rhoda Hall of Groton, Massachusetts. Went up to
New Hampshire about 1869. He was there in 1880 and married to Mary Frances
Robbins. He was single there in 1900 and was shown with his son Leslie in
Lexington, Massachusetts in 1910. Annie was there in Lexington with them. Annie
and Ethel were both here together in 1920. Annie is single here in 1940.

37 VT VT NH and is a brass man for a plumbing company.
His wife Ethel is 37 ME. He is a son of Robert and Addie Putnam, and was born
in Springfield Vermont July 15, 1892. He was there with his first wife Mary
Emily Wetherby, who he married June 14, 1916, and
they were here in 1920. They divorced. She married Raymond Collins and is in
Rutland now with their son Robert. Carroll married Ethel here in 1928. They are
here in 1940.

43 MA VT MA and divorced. He is a shipper at a molasses company. He is a son of
Franklin and Maria Choate Putnam and was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He was
with the folks in Boston in 1900 and then back in Wethersfield, Vermont in
1910. That was where his dad came from before moving to Boston. Charlie will marry
Ruth Helfenstern and be in South Boston till he dies.
In a 2005 obit it says Ruth E. died on January 10 and was the widow of Charles
O. Putnam. On the obit.eons site, I find their son
Charles O. Junior was born June 18, 1937 and died Friday May 1, 1992 for what
that’s worth.
CLYDE PUTNAM Boston 4, Suffolk County
His is
listed as Pulman 41 MA MA MA and a chauffer. He is
Clyde Hervey Putnam, son of Ernest Merrill Putnam and Carrie Marie Olcott. He
was born on December 14, 1888 in Clinton, MA. He married Edith Brimmer of
Nova Scotia on August 31, 1912 in Lynn, MA. Clyde is at home with his parents
in Lynn, MA in 1920. I do not see him in 1940 but he registered for the WWII
draft in 1942.
He is
37 NY MA LA and is a salesman for a laundry. His wife Estella is 38 MA and they
have Muriel D. 9 MA and Collins C. 8 MA. He is a son of Arthur and Harriet
Putnam. His folks were from Danvers and then moved to New York and then to New
Jersey by 1900 and then in Melrose in 1910 and 1920. They are in North Reading,
Middlesex County in 1940.

with his grandfather Rufus. Then the family was in Ohio and I don’t find them
in 1880. He was in Lexington in 1900 and 1910 and in Harvard, Worcester County
in 1920. They are here in 1940.

her first husband’s though. They are in Newton, Middlesex County in 1935 and
then up in Cape Elizabeth, Maine in 1940 where he is a wholesale leather
salesman.

W. Putnam who was Harold’s dad.

Walcott, Vermont in 1860, and in Ashburnham, Mass. in 1870. In 1880, he was
single in Phillipston, Worcester County. He then was
in Gardner, Worcester County in 1900 and 1910 and Winchendon in 1920. Says he
was married when he was 23 (1883). He was first married to Nettie Holden in the
late 1880s or early 1890s and something happened. They had a son Allen Orrin in
1891. In 1900 Nettie was with her folks in Northfield, Franklin County with
Allen and pretty much the same in 1910. By 1920 Nettie and Allen were in Los
Angeles County California and are there forever. He then married Alice M. Smith
here in 1898, but separated very quickly as both were alone in different houses
in Grafton, Worcester County in 1900.

Thompson of Sutton. Maynard was born March 3, 1876 and was with the family
there in 1880 and in 1900, then got married and moved into Worcester by 1910
and was there in 1920 also. They are here in Grafton still in 1940. The son
Kenneth Howe Putnam was born October 1, 1908 and will die in Grafton August 25,
1987. He married Ethel M. Whitney in 1924. Ethel is a daughter of Edwin Elijah
Whitney and Ida Amanda Prentice. She was born in Grafton March 12, 1910 and
will die there in December 1985.

Putnam, a son of Andrew Jackson and Sarah Putnam from Wilton, New Hampshire.

sanitarium. His wife Hazel Belle Fuller is 40 MA and they have Virginia F. 16
MA. He is a son of Oliver Kimball Putnam and was born in Los Gatos, California
May 25, 1890. Oliver was born back in Xenia, Ohio, and his grandfather was
Jasper Wheeler Putnam (3105) from right about here in Grafton, Mass. Family
really went full circle. They were in nearby Charlton in 1920.

at an oil & gas company. He is a son of Herbert Leander Putnam and Mary Cheeney of Shrewsbury. They were in Worcester though in
1900 and then back here by 1910. Herb junior was born October 26, 1881 here in
Shrewsbury. In his WWII draft registration in 1942, he gave his birth date, and
the fact he was married and worked for Socony-Vacuum Oil Company (became Mobil
Oil later). The SS death index has him dying in Shrewsbury in February 1966.

something to do with cutlery. His wife Bessie Johnston is 36 MA. Her folks were
here in 1920 now only her widowed mother Elizabeth 75 CT is here. He is the son

Montague. Pearl died and he married Bessie Johnston and they were here in 1920

Shrewsbury in 1920. Then she died in 1924 and he married Mary in Shrewsbury in
1928. He and Florence had a daughter
Florence Marjorie Putnam born March 27, 1920 in Shrewsbury and she is now with
her mother’s folks, Charles and Ada Tuttle, in Worcester and will be with them
single in 1940 and will die single here in Worcester August 5, 1994. Donald and
Mary will get divorced and he is single here in 1940. He will die here in 1951,

from Hookset, New Hampshire. He was born there August 29, 1881, and was at home
there in 1900 and he was married in Goffstown, Hillsborough County in 1910 and
here in 1920. He will die here in Worcester April 15, 1977. This is the ‘Other
Branch’ of the family originally from Yorkshire, England.

is 76 MA and widowed now. Hannah Louise Sabin is the second wife and now widow
of George Augustus Putnam from here. She has two stepdaughters from his first
marriage with Fannie Marie Wells. They are Jennie 62 ME and Florence 54 MA.
George was a clergyman like his father John Milton Putnam and traveled around
New England over his career.

Earl Crockett 46 MA. She was married to George Willington Putnam here through
the 1920. He was the son of William Putnam (3134) and Sarah Wheelock from here
in Worcester. Maria is a daughter of William Martin and Sarah Smith and was
born in West Boylston August 31, 1857. She is widowed here still in 1940.

single. Her sister Helen is 46 and single too. They are daughters of Samuel
Henry Putnam and Sarah Woodbury from here in Worcester. They have been home
through 1910 and were there with their widowed mother in 1920. In fact this is the
same house their folks owned.

is boarding by himself. He sells automobiles. He is a son of Fred Brooks and
Elizabeth Putnam and was born in Antrim March19, 1899 in Hillsborough County
New Hampshire They were there in 1900 and then the family was back here in 1910
and probably 1920. His dad was from Leominster originally. There is a record
that he will have a son, Richard Graham Putnam, on June 25, 1932. The birth
certificate states his mother was Harriet E. Souzor.
I guess that is who Robert is married to now.

is 88 MA and still lives with her nephew Harry P. Prescott and his wife Mabel.
Sarah Frances Johnson is the widow of John Davis Putnam from Webster. John was
a son of Russell Putnam and Adeline Buss of Charlton. He died in Webster in
1907. She was here in 1920 and will be here in 1940 still with Harry and Mabel
Prescott. And, she’ll be 98.

Putnam (son of Jasper Putnam 3105) and Caroline Crocker from Grafton,
Massachusetts. . He was born when his folks were in Xenia, Greene County Ohio
May 29, 1863. His dad worked for the railroad and they were in Ohio from the
1850s to the 1880s. They were here since the 1890s.

Henry was the son of Samuel (3135) of Worcester. Willie, and his birth
certificate states Willie not William. He was born here November 15, 1894 and
will die here July 5, 1967. He is a school janitor as he will be in 1940.
