January 14, 1928 in Clayton. Her folks were William Hettinger and Susannah
Pore. She married James October 9, 1883 in West Bay City, Bay County Michigan.

County since the 1880s, except he was briefly in Grand Rapids in 1930 but back
here by 1935. He was first married to Eva Cross April 23, 1883 and widowed by
the 1890s. He married Mable ‘Abbie’ Winters November 6, 1901 in Middleville,
Barry County and she died there January 4, 1923. He will die here himself on
September 7, 1943. This is a German family originally out of Somerset County
Pennsylvania before heading west into Ohio.

Delmar’s death record states his folks were William Walker Putnam and Celia Webber. But they were adopting parents. His birth parents were Otheniel Faxon and Alida Tripp. That’s why even though he was born in 1874, he wasn’t listed with William Putnam’s family in 1880. William died in 1891 and Celia and the regular kids were in South Dakota in 1900 and Delmar was here in Bedford, Calhoun County in 1900 and then Battle Creek through 1940. So he was not born a Putnam.

Walter G. Stevens and Irma I. Clark and was born in Battle Creek and will die
in Kalamazoo June 6, 1984. She is buried in Young’s Cemetery in Battle Creek
with Thomas Junior who died August 3, 1987 in Sandusky, Ohio. Surprised they
are buried together as they were divorced in Broward County Florida February

Chicago August 2, 1915. His dad is boarding in Benton Harbor in 1910, and then
married Mabel Emerson in 1913 and they were there in 1920. So those are his
folks. He will die January 15, 1965 in Dowagiac, Cass County. New England line

Michigan in 1880 and in Saginaw County Michigan in 1900. Laura Marie Moore was

then Michael Yager in Sanilac Michigan September 27,

F. Putnam. Died Tuesday, November 3, 1981 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing
following a six month illness. He was 71. He
was born September 8, 1910 in Akron but was a lifelong county resident.
He married the former Jesse Lester on May 5, 1938, but she preceded him in
death on March 11, 1956. He was employed by Eaton manufacturing of
Vassar. He is survived by six sons, Tom, Ervin, Richard, Raymond, James and
Chuck Putnam; four daughters, Betty Mitchell, Grace Putnam, Sandra Putnam
and Monica Sovey; five sisters, Lillian Albee, Jolene
Wright, Estella Parker, Louella Hollister and Rachel Congdon; and three
brothers, Eli, Tom and Jim Putnam. Funeral services were Saturday at
Atkins Funeral Home of Vassar with Rev. John Bertelsmeyer
officiating. Burial was in the Gilford Township Cemetery.’ New England

then back here in the 1860s. This is the line of Mark Putnam of Caro, Tuscola
County who has done a great deal of work on this Dutch line. Peter Walton is
Mark’s dad.

in 1940 is listed as Mabel 27 CANADA and may be the second wife. Seems he and
Margaret were actually married in Detroit July 22, 1948. May well have been a
writing error and maybe Mary was number 2 using Mabel as a name. Who knows. His
dad Edward Herbert Putman was a son of William Putman and Hulda
Burroughs from Ingham County. Dutch folks from Genesee County to Montgomery

still have Daisy Ellen 15 MI and Betty 13 MI at home. They came down from
Canada in April 1919. They were here in Detroit in 1920 and in Oakland County
by 1930. His folks were Joseph Putnam and Sarah Ann Coch,
and he was born in Brentford, Middlesex England
October 28, 1881. He will die in Fenton, Genesee County Michigan November 5,
1964. Agnes was born August 12, 1884 in Martley,
Worcestershire England and will die in Fenton March 19, 1955. Based on some
English census records, she was in a poor house when she was 7 and probably a
lot earlier and then a house servant till she got out
of England when the WWI war got going.

registration. He is Russell Carl Putnam and was born in Bay City November 17,
1888. He will die here November 20, 1945.

through 1930, but has married a Brockway who has died and she is widowed now.
Laura is now 58 CAN. They are daughters of Ezra Blackmore and Emily Putnam and
were with their folks here in 1900 and 1910. Interesting, both parents were Putnams. Ezra was a son of John W. Putnam and
Elizabeth Brown from Kent County Ontario. John was a son of Asaph Putnam and
Nancy Stokes from Ontario and from Vermont prior to that. Emily is also a Putnam,
a daughter of Ezra B. Putnam and Elizabeth Alexander. That Ezra was also a son
of Asaph and Nancy Putnam. New England family that went to Canada a long time
ago.

is 79 CAN and widowed. Theresa Dwyer is the widow of Harrison Putnam from Kent
Ontario Canada. They were all here in 1900. He died here in 1906 and she has
been widowed here ever since. She is living with her married daughter Lena

Detroit June 11, 1900Alice is a daughter of Paul Edwin Fuller and Louisa
Elizabeth Shaw and was born in November 1872 in Oceana, Michigan and will die
in Birmingham, Michigan in 1953. William will die in Southfield, Macomb County,
Michigan May 17, 1961.

1930. Forrest was a son of Dr. Joseph Whitney Putnam and Eloisa Sanders. The

and Katherine Putnam from Springfield, Vermont. He was born in Vermont in
October 1879, and was in Pawtucket Rhode Island in 1900 at age 3.They were in
Newport, New Hampshire in 1910. Clyde was single here in Wayne County in 1920
and married to Ida in Detroit in 1930. Aileen is new.

WILLIAM PUTNAM Lincoln Park, Wayne County

42 MI, his wife Marie Victoria Cook is 41 OH and they
have a daughter Quaintance Caroline 16 OH (think
really MI). He works in an auto factory. I got some info from a descendant.
William was born November 27, 1897 in Michigan. In 1900 he was in Calhoun
County Michigan with his folks Delmar and Gertrude Putnam. His had had
remarried by 1910 and was in Battle Creek, Calhoun County. William was in an
orphanage in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1910. I don’t find Delmar in 1920. Bill was single in
Detroit then. In 1930, he and Marie and Quaintance
were all in Chicago, Illinois where he was working as an electroplater for an
auto parts manufacturer. Does chrome bumpers and all that. Big problem is I
haven’t a clue as to who Delmar was except his dad was born in Massachusetts.
Marie is a daughter of William Nathan Cook and Ruby Josephine Rounds and was
born in Mansfield, Richland County Ohio June 26, 1898. She will die of cancer
in Detroit in 1959. William will later move to Jackson, Mississippi and marry
Lois Papisan Hembree in the
early 1960s. He will die there November 30, 1996. The daughter Quaintance was born in Detroit March 30, 1924 and will
marry John Eric Saren August 3, 1943 and die in
Trenton, Wayne County February 14, 1994. His dad Delmar had married Minnie
Hallock around 1907 and was with her in 1910 and is still with her in Battle
Creek, Calhoun County. He will die there February 28, 1942. Still no ideas as
to his folks.
CHESTER S. (SALISBURY)
PUTNAM Livonia Township, Wayne County
He is
50 MI NY MI and is president of a construction company. His wife Iva Bride
Whiting is 51 MI. He is a son of Louis Putman and Myrta Azmith
Van Syckle and was born in Kalamazoo City July 16,
1889 and was there with his folks in 1900. Then his folks divorced as in 1910
his dad is living with his widowed mother Emily Salisbury who was married to
Lewis Putnam who died in Kalamazoo January 6, 1904. His mom married Emery
Kimball Zimmerman in Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County April 4, 1911 and then they
moved to Sandwich, Essex County Ontario Canada. Chester was with them in 1910
and then married Iva in Chatham, Kent County Ontario Canada December 1, 1913.
They are back in Grosse Point, Wayne County Michigan in 1920 and Detroit in
1930 and now here in a suburb of Detroit. They will be in Plymouth, Michigan in
1942 and Dearborn in 1946 and he will die in Detroit November 4, 1950. Iva is a
daughter of Wilbur L. Whiting and Aletta D. Carpenter and was born in Kalamazoo
County September 26, 1887 and will die in Hollywood, Broward County Florida
January 30, 1981. Then, as to Chester’s line. His dad Louis was a son of Lewis
Putnam and Emily Salisbury and his dad was a son of Ebenezer George Putman and
Rebecca Frey and was born in Johnstown, Fulton County New York March 12, 1830.
This is the Dutch line out of Montgomery County New York.

54 PA and says married. He is a patient at the Wayne County Insane Asylum and
was here in 1935. He actually came down from Sardinia, Ontario Canada and
married Edith Bennett in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania and they were in Clinton
County Pennsylvania in 1920. His folks were Harmon Putman and Laura Culp of
Canada. Laura was widowed in Potter County PA in 1900 with the kids, Alonzo was
only 4 at the time. Alonzo and Edith were in McKean County Pennsylvania in 1920
and in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1930.

laws. Clyde Hazen Putnam is a son of George Lewis Putnam and Mary Hazen. He was
born in Novi, Oakland County June 25, 1869. He married Ellen A. Hicks there on
March 27, 1893, and has been there up through 1920 and then here in 1930. Dutch

Morgan 68 MN is with them. He is a salesman for a printing plant. He is a son
of George Francis Putman and Isabel S. Wakem. He was
born in Malden, Massachusetts March 17, 1896 and at home with his folks in 1900
in Malden, Massachusetts and I have no idea where he was in 1920. In 1930 he is
single in Detroit and a printing salesman as he is now. He married in Detroit
October 9, 1936. They will eventually wander down to Habersham County Georgia
and Beatrice will die there in Demorest August 31, 1985 and he will die there
in Cornelia Habersham County June 25, 1944.
She
is 43 MI and widowed. Says she was here in 1935. Beats me.
He is
68 MI MI MI and now a
foreman at a chemical factory. His wife Martha Long is 68 MI and their now
married and widowed daughter Myrtle Mehilhose is 35
MI. She was single in 1930. They have been here under various spellings since
the late 1800s. He is a son of Henry Putnam and Nancy Collins. He was born when
the family was in Monroe County Michigan. In 1880 the family was in Fulton
County Ohio and then they were all back in Michigan in 1900. His folks have
been in Eaton County but his dad is listed just above in Taylor, Wayne County.
Miles was born in 1871 and will die here in Taylor in 1953. Martha was born in
1873 and will die here in 1950. His family came out of Niagara County New York
and Massachusetts before that.

here in Cadillac till she dies November 29, 1974. Line goes back to Joel Stokes
Putnam through Ontario Canada to Asaph Putnam who went up there from Vermont in
the 1790s. Family from Massachusetts before that.

W. Shields and Lena Gay Cuthbert and was born in Ludington, Mason County April
2, 1901 and will die in Kent City, Kent County Michigan January 27, 1998. Dutch
