CATHERINE PUTNAM Anoka, Anoka County
She
is 71 MA born Apr 1829 and lives alone. Catherine Hall is the widow of George Whitmore
Putnam and was here from the 1860s. George was born in Sutton, Massachusetts
August 11, 1827 and just died here December 23, 1898. She will be in Portland
Oregon in 1920 at age 90 living with her widowed daughter Katherine Staples.
She was born in Massachusetts January 21, 1927 and will die in Anoka January
21, 1927.
MARY A. PUTNAM Mankato, Blue Earth County
She
is 69 CAN born Apr 1831 and the mother in law of Lewis Hunt. She was here in
1895 and is still in 1905.
PEARL PUTNAM Montevideo, Chippewa County
She
is 26 MN born Mar 1874. She is a lodger with William Hughes. She looks to be a
daughter of James Putnam as shown in 1880 in Granite Falls.
SAMUEL M. (MORTIMER) PUTNAM Brainerd, Crow Wing County
He is
65 NY born Sep 1834, Mary A. 63 NY born Jun 1836 and Bernice M. 31 WI born Jun
1868. Also there is Guy Hill 16 MN listed as granddaughter (?). They were here
in 1880. He is Samuel Mortimer Putnam, a son of Thomas Jefferson Putnam (#2257)
and Marcina Thomas. He was born in Oswego County New
York. Mary is widowed here in 1910, living with her daughter Clara Davis who is
also widowed by then.
FRANK E. (EDDY) PUTNAM Blue Earth City, Faribault County
He is
43 VT born Jan 1857, Jennie Rector 32 NY Apr 1868, Harold R. (Rector) 5 MN Sep
1894 and Alice E. 2 MN Sep 1897. He was born January 9, 1857 in Grafton,
Vermont, a son of John Henry Putnam (2825) and Alice Augusta Eddy. John Henry
was a son of Asher Putnam number 1271. He is an attorney here. They are here in
1910 through 1930. He will be a State Senator by 1910.
WILLIAM R. (RICE) PUTNAM Rushford, Fillmore County
Obviously just blew into town in
time for the 1895. He is 53 OH born Feb 1847, Harriet Jane Willard his wife 37
IL Jul 1862, Persis (Persis Frances) 11 WI Jul 1888, Katherine 10 WI Sep 1889,
Rufus W. (Willard) 8 WI Jun 1891, Harriet 7 WI Jun 1892, Mary H. 2 WI Jun 1897,
Janet 1 MN Dec 1898. He is a son of Rufus Putnam and Mary Herskell
and was born in Clark County Ohio. He was single in La Crosse Wisconsin in
1880. Jane is widowed here in 1910, and she and a couple of the daughters will
be in Urbana, Champaign County Illinois in 1920. The son Rufus Willard will be
a cadet at West Point in 1910 and then married in Chicago by 1930.
WILLIAM H. (HERRICK) PUTNAM Red Wing, Goodhue County
He's
been here since the 1860s. He has a second wife now. He is 52 MA born Jan 1848,
Nellie L. Butts is 39 NY born Oct 1860. Her mother Mary M. Butts 64 NY is
living with them. Also there are his sons William R. 23 MN born Aug 1876, Frank
D. 22 MN Sep 1877, Robert W. 19 MN Sep 1880 and Frederick W. 15 MN Nov 1884. He
is number 3193, son of William Richardson Putnam number 1542. He married Nellie
here on July 10, 1894. His first wife Adeline Rowell had died in 1890.
A. (ABRAHAM) PUTMAN Minneapolis, Hennepin County
He is
47 IL born Apr 1853, Emma Holmes, his wife, 43 OH born Dec 1856, Harry B.
(Brower) 19 IL born Dec 1880, Hart C. (Charles) 17 IL born Jul 1882. Also there
is Emma's mother, T. R. Holmes 78 VT. He is a son of William Brower Garrett
Putman and Martha Elkins, New York Dutch family. He was born in Schuyler County
Illinois. He was in Cass County Illinois in 1870 with his brother John. He
married Emma Laura Holmes in Cass County Illinois September 7, 1879. Abe and
Emma were in Astoria, Fulton County Illinois in 1880. They are here in 1910,
but not indexed where I can find them. They will all be here in 1920, except
Emma's mom.
ARTHUR C. PUTMAN Minneapolis, Hennepin County
He is
43 MA Sep 1856, Jennie C. 34 NY Jan 1866, Mary 12 WI, Mar 1888, Arthur 10 WI
May 1890, and Benjamin H. 5 MN Oct 1894. He is a son of Lorenzo and Mary
Putnam. They were all here in 1885 and were all in Sherburne County in 1895.
His folks are still there now. He was born in Becket, Mass. and was at home
there in 1860. They are back in Sherburne County in 1905 and then in Wright
County in 1910.
CAROLINE PUTMAN Minneapolis, Hennepin County
She is
73 CT Feb 1827, Frances 30 NY (really about 47) Jan 1870, Kate 33 (about 44-45)
NY Mar 1867. There are also two roomers. These folks are new since 1880.
Caroline McCray is the widow now of John Skinner Putnam (son of Harvey and n
Putnam), and they were in Attica, Wyoming County New York in 1870 and Missouri
in 1880. Kids ages are off, but all the names are just fine. The two daughters
are here by themselves in 1910. John died here July 14, 1898. Caroline
will die January 9, 1906. Both folks were returned to Attica, New York for
burial.
She
is 39 WI born Feb 1861, her sister Sarah L. is 33 WI born Jun 1866. They are
new, and are both in St. Paul in 1910. They are both daughters of John Day
Putnam and Charlotte Lovell from St. Croix County Wisconsin. They were at home
there in 1870 and in Pierce County Wisconsin in 1880. The folks have moved to
California, and these sisters decided to hang in here in the Mid West.
Catherine is a doctor, Sarah a teacher. They are in St. Paul in 1910.
CHARLES E. (EDWARD) PUTMAN Minneapolis, Hennepin County
Newcomers
that were here in 1895. He is 45 NY born Oct 1854, Lucretia Nichols his wife is
42 Sep 1841, A. (Ann) Elizabeth 21 NY Sep 1879 and Willard N. (Nichols) 18 NY
April 1882. He is a son of Edward Alexander Putman and Mehitable
Anderson and was born in DePeyster, St. Lawrence
County New York. Dutch family. They are here in 1910 and 1920.
CHARLES R. (ROPES) PUTMAN Minneapolis, Hennepin County
He is
now 63 ME born Feb 1837, Laura Ann Ayers his wife is 56 ME Jul 1843, Ida A. 28
MN Apr 1872 and Charles Edgar 19 MN Feb 1881. In 1910, he will be widowed and
be living with his son Charles in Tacoma, Pierce County Washington. They will
be there in 1920 as well.

PUTNAM Minneapolis, Hennepin County
He is
47 WI born Feb 1853, Mary Johnson, his wife, is 44 NRY born Aug 1855. He is a
son of Charles Wesley Putnam and Ellen Coyle. He was born February 6, 1853 in
Oconomowoc, Waukesha County Wisconsin. He married Mary in Dell Rapids, South
Dakota July 1881. They were here in 1885 and 1895, and are here in 1910.

He is
41 MA born Jan 1859, Mary Christian 38 SWT Mar 1862, Alice 15 MN Apr 1885.
Mary's father John Christian 58 SWT is with them. Frank is widowed here in 1910
and 1920. Frank is a son of Lorenzo and Mary H. Putnam who are also here in
Minneapolis. He was born in Becket, Berkshire, Mass., and was at home there in
1860.
GEORGE A. (ALONZO) PUTNAM Minneapolis, Hennepin County
He is
55 NY born Mar 1845, his wife Nellie Fletcher 59 VT born Jan 1841. They are
boarding with George C. Bowen. George is a son of Alonzo Franklin Putnam (son
of Jacob Putnam 1808 and Lucy Barnes of Londonderry, Vermont). George was born
in Malone, New York after the family left Vermont. He married Mary Fletcher in
Plainfield, Vermont July 5, 1867. He will marry a Mary Ann here in 1901 and they
are here in 1905 and 1910.
GEORGE H. PUTNAM Minneapolis, Hennepin County
He is
39 MN born Jan 1861, Gladys 13 MN Oct 1886, George 5 MN Oct 1894. Also there is
a housekeeper, Gena Peterson 28 NRY. George is a son of George Whitmore Putnam
from Anoka County. He was there in 1870 and 1880. He married Della Sowden in
Anoka December 28, 1884 and they were here in 1895, then she died in 1899. He
will have a new wife Lilla G. Hendrixson here in 1910
through 1930. George was born in January 1861 and will die here in Minneapolis
March 11, 1946. The daughter Gladys was born November 25, 1884 and will die
July 28, 1968. She will never marry.
HENRY J. PUTNAM Minneapolis, Hennepin County
He is
36 NY born Feb 1864. Annette Stiles his wife is 33 WI Apr 1867. His mother Mary
E. Putnam is 66 CT born Oct 1833. He is a son of John Henry Putnam from New
York and the whole family was here in 1880. Henry and Annette will be here in
1910 and 1920.

is 36 VT born Jul 1863. She is enumerated with Mary E. Morse 54 VT, and is
listed as her daughter.

Montgomery County New York. The family was in Will County Illinois from 1860
through 1880. They are all here in 1910 and across the River in St. Paul in
1920. He will be widowed and back in Minneapolis in 1930. His folks are in
Chicago now. Dutch family.

He is
18 MN born Jan 1882 and boarding. He will be in Pine County in 1920. Also in
Pine county then will be Elizabeth Bowen, the widow of Charles Henry Putnam who
was in neighboring Kanabec County in 1900. These may well be his folks.

30 PA born Aug 1869, and rooming. I don't find him in Pennsylvania in 1870 or
1880.

was here in 1880. He is now 45 MA born Nov 1854, Mary E. Turnbull his wife 43
IL Aug 1856, Estelle E. 18 MN Oct 1881, Irving L. 17 MN Feb 1883, Albert F. 14
MN Jan 1886, Roy W. 12 MN Apr 1888, Margaret 8 MN Jan 1892. His folks were
Lorenzo Putnam and Mary Thayer from Becket, Mass. They are here still in 1910
and in 1920.

1900. Also there is a 'servant' Ellen Voge 15 MN. He
is a son of Franklin and Emily Putnam and has been here most of his life. They
are here in 1910 and 1920.

is 83 NY born Apr 1818 and living in the Home for Children and Aged Women.

is 30 NY born Jan 1870. She is enumerated with Ruth Ridges. She is here in 1905
too. Looks like Carrie the daughter of James and Sarah Putman from Fulton
County New York.
NED B. PUTNAM Minneapolis, Hennepin County
He is
38 PA born Apr 1862 (actually born April 7, 1859), Callie (Frances Callie
Frost) 19 VA born Jan 1881. He is Edward Bishop Putnam, a son of George and
Rebecca Putnam. He was in McKean County Pennsylvania in 1860 and in Warren
County Pennsylvania in 1870 with his then widowed mother Rebecca Rider Putnam.
By 1880 he was back in McKean County. He and Callie are here in 1905, 1910,
1920 and 1930. He has a saloon called Put’s Bar. His dad George is a son
of George Putnam (1182) and Salina Thayer of Washington County Vermont and then
by 1850 in Jay, Essex County NY.
T. L. (FRANKLIN L.) PUTNAM Minneapolis, Hennepin County
He is
55 MA May 1845, Emily L. 62 MI Apr 1838. This would be Franklin Jr. who has
been here since the 1860s. His dad, Franklin, was from Houlton, Maine. He and
Emily are here in 1910. Franklin will die here in Minneapolis on May 30, 1919.
Emily will die here January 7, 1917.
WILLIAM PUTNAM Minneapolis, Hennepin County
He is
Franklin's son and has been here since the 1870s. He is 41 MA Jul 1858, Belle
38 MO Aug 1861, Margaret 8 MN Dec 1891, Robert G. 5 MN Nov 1894, Donald E. 2 MN
Oct 1897. They will all be in Ward County North Dakota in 1910, and Belle will
be with her son Robert in Montana in 1920, and in Seattle Washington by 1930.
WILLIAM PUTNAM Minneapolis, Hennepin County
New here
since 1880 when he was in Dell Rapids, South Dakota. He is William Charles
Putnam 51 WI born Jul 1848, Elizabeth Bird, his wife, is 51 NJ Dec 1848, George
W. 17 MN Jan 1883. His mother Ellen Putnam 73 CAN Feb 1827 is with them. In the
1850 Wisconsin census, he is listed with his parents Charles Wesley Putnam and
Ellen Coyle. His dad is from Oneida County New York. The family was in Waukesha
County Wisconsin in the 1860. His brother Edward is here in Minneapolis now
too. I don’t find them in 1910, but Elizabeth is widowed in Spokane Washington
in 1920 and the son George is married there too in 1920 and to another girl
there in 1930.
ESTELLA PUTNAM Hennepin County
She
is 19 MN born Aug 1880 and enumerated with Rolla Stubbs. She is a daughter of
Pliny Dewey Putnam and his first wife Laura Gertrude Williams and was at home
with them in Wright County in 1895 at age 14.
ANDREW N. PUTNAM Hubbard County
He is
26 NH Oct 1873, and living alone. He is a son of Willard Putnam. They were all
in Douglas County in 1880, and now even dad is here in Hubbard County. He will
be listed in Beltrami County in 1910, still single. He is also listed as single
here in 1910 as well.
FRED PUTNAM Hubbard County
He is
22 MN born Mar 1878 and lives alone. Fred Ellsworth Putnam is a son of Willard
Putnam and was born in Douglas County. The rest of the family is here in
Hubbard County now. Fred will marry his stepsister Mabel E. Rice and they are
here in 1905. She will die in 1910 and he will have a new wife in Montana after
that. They will have 2 kids who are widowed here in 1910 and Fred isn’t around
then.
LEVI PUTNAM Hubbard County
He is
40 MN (NY) born Mar 1860. He is a son of Lewis and Lavinia Putman and was in
Olmstead County with them in 1880. He was here in 1895 and will be in 1910
through 1930. Dutch family from New York State.
WILLARD J. (JAMES) PUTNAM Hubbard County
He
and his whole gang moved over from Douglas County where they were in 1880 and
1885. He was widowed here in Hubbard County in 1895. He has several sons
nearby. His first wife was a Mary who would be 44 MI/WI this census, so this
Mary is Mary number two and she has two of her own kids here. He is 48 NH born
Sep 1851, Mary Louise Fuller 45 NY Mar 1855, Charles H. 17 MN Jun 1882, Ernest
W. 11 MN Jul 1888, Mabel E. 9 MN Jan 1890.
Mary was married to Charles Rice who died here in 1888. The stepchildren
are Mabel E. Rice 16 MN and Charles W. Rice 11 MN. By 1910 and 1920, he will be
in Sanders County Montana with another wife named Henrietta from New York. No
kids by then. Interesting Willard’s son Frederick will later marry his
stepsister Mabel E. Rice.

He's
new. He is 39 NY born Jun 1860, Annie Elsie Stephenson, his wife, 36 NORWAY May
1864, Wallace 9 MN Aug 1890, Ida 5 MN Jan 1895, Orpha 3 MN Feb 1897. He is a
son of William Gordon Putnam and Sarah Sheldon of Lisbon, St. Lawrence County
New York. His dad was from Canada. They are here in 1910 with a couple more
kids.

Geer. He says he is married now, and is here widowed in 1910.

He is
26 IL born Jan 1874 and lives alone. He is the son of Christopher and Harriet
Putman. He was home in McHenry County Illinois in 1880. Dutch family. He will
marry Georgiana Hanson here in a year or so. She is alone with twin daughters
here in 1905 and on. Last time I see Edward. Don’t know if he died or split and
moved somewhere.
KITTRIDGE PUTNAM Dawson, Lac qui Parle County
Reuben's
son has been here since the 1870s. He is now 73 VT born Dec 1826. He is listed
as 'father' with Charles Paige as he was in 1895. See 1880 for his line. Now,
he didn't have any daughters in 1880, but maybe he had one that was married
then.
FRED E. (ELISHA) PUTNAM Le Sueur, Le Sueur County
This one is a son of William
Putnam and Lucy Ladd from New York. He was born right here. He is now 42 MN
born Jan 1858, Eugenia Jane Palmer 42 NY May 1858, William E. 14 MN Mar 1886,
Bessie L. 12 MN May 1888, Myrtle E. 9 MN Jun 1890, Fred I. 7 MN Sep 1892 and
Golda M. 2 MN Dec 1897. They were here married in 1885 and 1895. I don’t find
any of these folks in 1910. The son William is widowed in Yamhill County Oregon
in 1920. The son Fred Israel is in North Dakota in 1920.

is 23 MN born Aug 1876. She is an employee at the State Hospital for the
Insane. She is a daughter of James L. and Josephine Putnam who are in Yellow
River County. She is in St. Paul working
as a stenographer in 1905. She will be with her mother in St. Paul in 1920.

is Pliny's son from Winona County. He is now 55 NY born May 1845, Mary Ellen
Welch 56 AL Jan 1844, A. A. (Arthur) 32 MN May 1868, his wife Edith Palmer is
21 MI Nov 1878, daughter Eileen 1 MI Feb 1899. Then there is a daughter of
Worthy's, Lulu 23 MN born Nov 1876. They will be in Rock County in 1910 and in
South Dakota in 1920. The son Arthur is still here in 1905
LAVINA PUTNAM Rochester, Olmsted County
She
is the widow of Lewis Putnam. She is 62 NY born Jan 1838, Nancy her daughter is
18 MN born Aug 1881. Also there is another daughter, Nettie Simmonds 25 NY born
May 1875, and her sons Charlie Simmonds 6 MN Sep 1893 and Levi Simmonds 3 MN
Aug 1896.

and was born here. They are here in 1910 and he is alone here in 1920.

Lavinia and was here in 1880. They were married here in 1895. They are here in
1910 and she is widowed here by 1920.

Caroline
Newton is 62 MA born Jun 1837, Mary Ann 42 MN Jul 1857 and Tyler S. (Samuel) 23
MN Nov 1876. She is the widow of Henry Putnam from Massachusetts, and they were
here in 1880, Stearns County in 1870 and Sherburne County in 1860. Her son
Herbert is here in the County her son Newton is in North Dakota.
FRANK S. (SHADRACK) PUTNAM Otter Tail County
He is
a son of Luman Putnam and Lovinia
Vanderwark. He was born in Wright County and was with
mom in Douglas County in 1870 and the family wasn't listed in 1880. He was
single here in Otter Tail County in 1885. He is now 41 MN born Feb 1859, his
wife Hannah Robinson is 33 WI Mar 1867, Oren (named after his grandfather) 13
MN Nov 1886, Floyd 11 MN Dec 1888, Worthy 7 MN Nov 1892 and Birdella
2 MN Jan 1898. New England folks. All of these folks will be here in 1910 and
1920. In 1930 Frank is living by himself and Hannah is with her son Oren.

is 19 MN born Oct 1881 and enumerated with Belle Gordon as a boarder. Rand took
a better look at this entry. She is listed as a prostitute. So maybe she’s
using a fake name or maybe she is a Putnam. I tried calling her, but just get
voice responses. I’m trying to get her out here to see if she does have a good
way with sex, and I’ll ask her then for her real name. Keep you posted.

39 OH born Nov 1860. Boarding. He is a son of Benjamin Perkins Putnam and Lydia
Edgerton and was at home in 1880 in Marietta, Washington County Ohio, and
single here in 1885. He is here in 1910. Massachusetts family.

born Apr 1867. He is a son of Henry Cleveland Putnam and Jane Eliza Balcom of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

was here in 1880. He is now 68 MA born Oct 1832, Catherine 61 IRE Sep 1839,
Marianne 30 MN Aug 1870. He is a son of Miles Putnam and Rebecca Carter and was
born in Worcester, Massachusetts November 19, 1830. He was at home in 1850 with
his widowed mother. Catherine was married to a Walker before and I don’t have
her maiden name

Jennie will be here still in 1920. He is a son of Alvarez Gonsalvo
Putnam and Lydia Ham of Houlton, Maine. He was born in Hodgedon,
Maine June 21, 1856. He married Jennie Zell, born in Berlin, here on July 16,

1930 and Frank and his daughter Hattie are in St. Paul.

Asaph Ezra son of Joel Stokes Putnam and Lovilla
Church from Leeds, Kent County Ontario. Asaph was born December 2, 1837 and
will die here April 12, 1930. He married Julia Ann Stewart November 15, 1863.
She was previously married to a Barshaw who died in
1852 and then to a Stewart. Julia died in Chicago February 22, 1875. Asaph
married Amanda C. Frisbey in Chicago August 8, 1875.
They were there in 1870 and 1880 and here in Madelia, Watonwan County Minnesota
by 1900. Amanda was the daughter of Loton Leroy
Frisby and Rhoda Mallory and was born in Vermont November 22, 1828. Amanda
Married William Francis Cook in Connecticut December 14, 1851. He died August
3, 1852 and she married George Washington Bonham about 1856 and the separated.
She married Asaph August 8, 1875. She will die in Watonwan County Minnesota
August 30, 1909.

Lenora Aurelia Morgan in 1908 and they will be in Tampa, Florida in 1910, and
he will die there May 12, 1912. Silas will be married in Alberta Canada in 1911
and then back in Minnesota in 1920.

He will be widowed and back in Minneapolis in 1930. His folks are in Chicago
now. Dutch family from New York. The son Hollis is just married and also has

SC. They have Harriet 8/12 MN. He is Edward Bishop Putnam, a son of George and
Rebecca Putnam. He was in McKean County, Pennsylvania in 1860 and in Warren
County, Pennsylvania in 1870 with his then widowed mother Rebecca Rider Putnam.
By 1880 he was back in McKean County. He and Callie are here in 1905, 1910,
1920 and 1930. He has a saloon called Put’s Bar. His dad George is a son of
George Putnam (1182) and Salina Thayer of Washington County, Vermont and then
by 1850 in Jay, Essex County, NY. He will die here in 1938. Harriet will
someday marry Frederick Hartgen and live in Branford, Connecticut.

1897, Gordon W. 3 MN and Annie E. 2 MN. He is a son of William Gordon Putnam
and Sarah Sheldon of Lisbon, St. Lawrence County, New York. His dad was from
Canada. They are here in 1910. He will die here June 15, 1916. Orpha is in St.
Paul in 1920, but no idea where the rest are. Gordon is in Minneapolis in 1930
though.

Eva M. Putnam 51 IL OH KY listed as a dressmaker. She is James’ unmarried
sister. He is James, son of James Putman and Letha Darnell from Brown County,
Illinois. He was a farmer until 1877 when he became a druggist in Holland,
Grundy County, Iowa. In 1881 he married Maud White daughter of Julian and
Hattie White. Maud was born March 31, 1858 and she died November 23, 1904.
James will die January 9, 1913 here in Lakefield. Southern Putman family.

son of Charles Henry Putnam and Elizabeth Bowen. He was at home with them in
Wright County in 1880. The family was here in Comfort in 1900, but Ed was off
somewhere. He and Laura are in Latah County Idaho in 1910, Nez Perce County in
1920 and back in Lahat County Idaho in 1930. His widowed mom is here in 1910.

Putnam from McHenry County Illinois. He was single here in 1900, and must have
died or split or something. Dutch family from New York State. Jorgina or Georgina and the kids are here in 1910 and 1920
and in Minneapolis in 1930. She says she is married in 1910 and then says
widowed in 1920.

32 MI. Then there is Rasa listed as a male (actually Rosa Dickinson Rorer his
wife) 30 VA (MI) and then Gordon 6 OH. A really screwed up entry. He is a son
of Henry Putnam and Nancy Collins. He was born when the family was in Monroe
County Michigan. In 1880 the family was in Fulton County Ohio and then the
folks were back in Eaton County Michigan and are there now. He was in Taylor,
Wayne County Michigan in 1900 with her parents and are back there by 1910. He
will be there under all sorts of spellings through the 1930. His family came
out of Niagara County New York and Massachusetts before that.

1860, Stearns in 1870 and here by 1880. He was here in 1900 with his mother who

Ethel Marion Brown and was born our here but the family was back in Medford,
Middlesex County Massachusetts in1900. Folk got divorced and his dad is now in
Boston, Massachusetts with a new wife Mary. His mom Ethel married James Murray
Page and that’s who he is living with now. In 1910 they are in San Francisco
and he is using the last name of Page. In 1920 he and the family are in Chicago
and his name is legally changed to Harvey Ogden Page. I don’t find him later
than the 1920.

of Sureno James Putnam from Lewis and then Jefferson
County New York. By 1860 he was in Rock County Wisconsin.

lodging. She is a daughter of James L. and Josephine Putnam who are in Yellow
River County. She was working at a State Insane Asylum in Nicollet County in
1900. She is here with her widowed mother in 1920 and 1930 and is still single.

Elmer is listed separately now. He is here with the family in 1910 through
1930. Anyway, she is 39 MN NNY NY, Julian 20 MN, Pearl M. 18 MN, Grace 16 MN,
Lester R. 5 MN, Bert L. 3 MN, Daisy A. 4/12 MN. Elmer is a son of John Elmer
Putnam and Nancy Merriman from Massachusetts. He was born here and will be here

can’t find him in Michigan or anywhere before this. State records have him
being married first to Agnes Murray who died here in the County March 30, 1908.
They had two sons Francis Joseph born October 23, 1903 and William James born
December 1, 1904. He is in St. Louis County in 1930 with a new wife, but I
can’t find him between now and then.
Another
hard to read page except that he is a barber. In 1910 He is here and is listed
as a Black man age 38 MN.

is 42 WI IRE IRE. They were here in 1900 and now have
Gertrude 22 ND (listed under her married name that looks like Younge), May 18
MN, Willis 16 ND, Julia 14 MN, Myrtle 12 MN, Helen 10 MN, Arnold 3 MN and
Harold 1 MN. Best guess is that he is a son of Ira and Elizabeth Putnam as
shown in 1860 in Luzerne, Warren County, New York. They were here in 1900 and are
here in 1910 and Mary is widowed here by 1920.

Putnam and Julia Wells from Chippewa County Wisconsin. He was home there in
1880 and 1900. He will be in Koochiching County single in 1910 and married in
1920. By 1930 they are in Mason County Washington.

a hotel or boarding house. She is not a sister of the above Eugene. Might be a
wife or ex wife though.

26 IA NY PA and a telegraph operator. His wife Edna M. Cobb is 28 IA WI WI. Niles Curtis Putnam is a son of George Putnam and
Adelia Medbury from Linn County Iowa. He was at home
there through 1900. I can’t find them in 1910, but he and Edna are in
Winneshiek County Iowa in 1920 and in Mower County Minnesota in 1930 with a
couple of children and still working for the Chicago and Milwaukee Railroad as
a station manager.

cashier at a bank and they will be here through 1930 at least. He is a son of
William Rodman Putnam and his second wife Martha, and was born in Hardin
County, Iowa. His dad is from Connecticut but went to New York and married
before coming to Iowa.

they have Hazel 8 MN, Hattie 6 MN, George 4 MN, Arthur 2 MN and Alta 7/12 MN.

Wheeler from Winnebago County, Illinois. Marvin was a son of John Wellington
Putnam and Minerva Scott from New York and then here in Winnebago County.
Marvin died there March 25, 1866. His widow ‘Hettie’ married Seymour Barker in
1868 and Frank was with them in Winnebago County in 1870 and Freeborn County Minnesota
in 1880. They were here in 1900 and will still be in 1920. They are divorced by
1930 when Frank is with his married daughter Hattie in St. Paul. New England

1894. He is a son of Alonzo Putnam and Hannah Cole. His brother Hiram is in
town too. They were both at home in 1860 in Haverhill, Grafton County, New
Hampshire. Parker and the family were here in 1885 and 1900. They are here in
1910 and he is widowed here in 1920.
He is
now 73 NY MA MA and finally a retired lawyer. His
wife Jennie Fuller is 72 NY and their still widowed daughter Flora Putnam Keading is 48 NY. He is a son of Pliny Putnam and Flora
Egerton from Arkwright, Chautauqua County New York and Winchendon Massachusetts
before that. He came out here with his folks in the mid 1850s. His dad was
widowed here in 1880. Alvers will be widowed here in
1910 and then still here in 1920 at age 90.

is 41 WI (CAN) and has George 20 MN, Wallace 18 MN (ND), Myrtle 14 MN and
Violet 10 MN. Rose Stadler has been married to William Washington Putnam here
through 1900. William Washington was a son of Nahum Duncan Putnam. His dad was
killed in the Civil War, and his mother married Nahum’s brother William who
brought him up. He's been here since the 1860s. He married Rose Stadler here on
November 1, 1881. Rose is widowed here through 1930.
CELIA M. PUTNAM Zumbro Falls,
Wabasha County
She
is a shoemaker 64 GER (really NY). She was in Rose, Ramsey County in 1880 and
said she was from New York. She is the widow of Charles Putnam as shown in 1870
in Wabasha County. She is back in St. Paul in 1910 and again says NY NY NY so this German thing is the
old clerical error. Charles was a son of Lewis and Emeline Putnam from Brutus,
Cayuga County New York he was home there in 1850, married to Celia in 1860 and
is back with his folks in 1880 without Celia. They either got a divorce or
Charles just took off. Celia is in St. Paul in 1880 through 1910 and says she
is widowed. Just hated to admit to being divorced back in those days.

ASAPH PUTNAM Madelia, Watonwan County
He is now 66 CAN CAN CAN and a retired mail
carrier. His wife Amanda Bonham is 77 VT. In 1880 he was in Chicago, Illinois,
having married Amanda there in 1875. They were here in 1895 and 1900. He is
widowed here in 1910, and in Blue Earth County in 1920. Not sure who his folks
are.
SEMPHRONIAS PUTNAM Hillsdale, Winona County
He is
77 NY MA CT, and his wife Tamer Amanda Houck 76 NY NY
MA. He has been here since 1852. He is a son of Pliny Putnam and Flora Egerton
from Arkwright, New York. In 1910 he and Amanda are in Ellsworth, Pierce
County, Wisconsin. Their daughter Emma married Clifton Munger and moved to
Wisconsin a few years ago. He lists himself as a capitalist now and back in
1900. Money Hungry guy I guess.
He is
now 71 NY VT NY. He has now been married to Sarah Jane Ford for over 40 years.

married Seymour Barker in 1868 and Frank was with them in Winnebago County in
1870 and Freeborn County Minnesota in 1880. They were here in 1900 and will
still be in 1920. They are divorced by 1930 when Frank is with his married
daughter Hattie in St. Paul. New England family.

Stutsman County, North Dakota in 1900 with his first wife Jenny Olson also from
Norway. His folks are still here and listed shortly. Actually looks like they
may be in the same house, or at least next door. Walter was born November 13,
1898 and will die in Wilkin County June 5, 1961.

County Ontario. Asaph was born December 2, 1837 and will die here April 12,
1930. He married Julia Ann Stewart November 15, 1863. She was previously
married to a Barshaw who died in 1852 and then to a
Stewart. Julia died in Chicago February 22, 1875. Asaph married Amanda C. Frisbey in Chicago August 8, 1875. They were there in 1870
and 1880 and here in Madelia, Watonwan County Minnesota by 1900. Amanda was the
daughter of Loton Leroy Frisby and Rhoda Mallory and
was born in Vermont November 22, 1828. Amanda Married William Francis Cook in
Connecticut December 14, 1851. He died August 3, 1852 and she married George
Washington Bonham about 1856 and the separated. She married Asaph August 8, 1875.
He is
now 75 NY VT NY. He has now been married to Sarah Jane Ford for over 44 years.
She is now 74 VT. He is a son of Pliny Putnam and Flora Edgerton of Chautauqua
County, New York, and been here in Winona County since the 1850s. Sarah will
die here March 25, 1912, and he will die here on April 28, 1919.

a son of Peter Holland and Harriet Augusta Putnam. He was in Duluth, St. Louis
County single in 1900, and married here in 1910. They are here in 1930. He is
the postmaster.
JAY PUTNAM Chippewa County

28 MN and boarding with James O'Connor. He is a son of James L. and Josephine
from Yellow Medicine County. He was there in 1900 and 1910. Mom is now widowed
in St. Paul. OBITS has him born September 29, 1891 and died in Spicer Minnesota
in March 1986. He will marry Myrtle Covell in Yellow Medicine County in 1923
and they are there in Granite City in 1930.

dad died January 8, 1865 in Washtenaw, Michigan. I don’t find him, but he
married Jennie Baker in Omaha, Nebraska November 13, 1892. She was previously

was here in 1900 and 1910. He married Della Sowden in Anoka December 28, 1884.
She died April 15, 1899 and he widowed back in 1900. He then married Lilla
Genevieve Hendrixson in 1905. He is 58 MN, Lilla 52
OH. Daughters are Gladys 32 MN and H. Dorothy 13 MN. He is a son of George W.
Putnam of Anoka County where he was born in 1861 and will die here March 11,
1946. Lilla is a daughter of Henry Roe Hendrixson and
Harriett Ellen McMillen and was born in Neville, Ohio January 29, 1867 and will
die here in Hennepin County June 14, 1933. He and Lilla were here in 1910 and
had been married for just 4 years then. They are here in 1930.

was married to Winnie Williams who would be 60 NH by now. Emily is new. To make
it more interesting, the Hiram who was in Traverse County is still there and
appears as widowed. He is Hiram Morgan Putnam a son of Alonzo Whipple Putnam
and Hannah Cole from Haverhill, Grafton County New Hampshire. He was shown
there as Hiram in 1860 and 1870 and gone by 1880. This marriage doesn’t last
long and Emily is single in 1930 and admits divorce in 1940.
KIRK M. PUTNAM Minneapolis, Hennepin County

His mother Julia B. Putnam 84 VT is living with him. He is a son of Robert

Kansas and was with his folks in 1880. In 1900, the family was in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, as were his parents. They are in Burbank California in 1930. The son
Robert will remain here until he dies June 17, 1949.

eldest son. He is a son of Lorenzo and Mary H. Putnam. He is Lorenzo Junior,
and was born in Becket, Berkshire County Massachusetts. He will die here in
Minneapolis March 23, 1924. Mary is widowed in 1930 and Edith is still
unmarried and living with her.

KY and was there in 1900 and 1910. They are in Greensboro, North Carolina in
1930. Massachusetts family originally. Robert Senior was a son of Alpheus
George Putnam, who was a son of George Washington Putnam II and grandson of the
elder George Washington who was a son of Israel Putnam II and Sarah Waldo of
Pomfret, Connecticut. They are in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1940 and he will register
for the draft there in 1942 and be in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the City
Directory of 1959. He will die in Santa Fe in February 1974.
RUTH PUTNAM Minneapolis, Hennepin County

boarding. She is a teacher at a dancing school. Ruth Marion Putnam is a
daughter of Henry Flavius Putnam and Bertha May Paine. Her folks were at home
in 1900 in Springfield Massachusetts. Don’t find her in 1930, but she will
marry Frederick Arnold Fjerstad December 25, 1936 as
an obvious dual Christmas Present to each other. They are in Red Wing, Goodhue
County Minnesota in 1940. Then sadly she will die there October 20, 1941.
STEPHEN A. PUTNAM Minneapolis, Hennepin County
He is
27 MN PA MI and his wife Myrtle Laier is 25 ND DEN
MI. He is with his widowed mother Lydia in Polk County Wisconsin in 1895 and
1900. In 1925 they are in Linn County Iowa. He states his folks are Israel
Putman and Lydia Armstrong from Pennsylvania. He is married there in 1930 and
says his dad is from England, mom from Michigan. He is also presently alone in
Trail County North Dakota where his wife Myrtle is from. He will die here in
Hennepin County September 21, 1935. Pretty sure
Israel was the son of Pliney and Martha Putnam as
shown in the 1857 census of Rice County Minnesota. He and his folks were from
Pennsylvania and Stephen was born in Minnesota.
WILLIAM PUTNAM Minneapolis, Hennepin County

40 SD, Emma Alma Buisson 30 MN. Also there is her mother Mary Buisson 65 NY and
her sister Etta 41 MN. He is William Edward Putnam, and was in Lac Qui Parle
County with his folks in 1880. The family then moved to South Dakota and his
dad Hosea Ballou Putnam died there in 1894. I don’t find the family there in
1900 however. His uncle Kitterage Putnam was there
though. They are here in 1930.

Cynthia Eldridge. He was born March 15, 1881 in Poysippi, Waushara County
Wisconsin so missed the 1880 census by a few months. He is never shown at home but his parents are in Richfield,

Pliney Dewey Putnam's son and was at home in Wright
County in 1900. He is now 46 MN, Florence Ellis 39 ENG, Norcross W. 7 CAN, Max
E. 8 CAN and Cuthbert 5 CAN. He obviously took a little trip across the border
before moving back here. He was in Red Deer Alberta in the 1911 census. He will
die here April 20, 1949. OBITS has Florence born December 17, 1880 and dying in
Minneapolis in July 1966.
FRED PUTMAN Caledonia, Houston County
He is
41 WI and an inmate at the Houston County Almshouse. He is the son of Jacob Putman
and Mary Frances Marr of Wautoma, Waushara County, Wisconsin. He was home there
in 1880, and in Sayerville, Waukesha County,
Wisconsin in 1900, and in Monroe County, Wisconsin in 1910. He never married,
and hasn’t been doing too well it seems. He will be here still in 1930 and
1940. He was born June 6, 1878 in Wisconsin and will die July 15, 1945. Dutch
family.

54 NY and lives alone except for a housekeeper. He was here in 1900, see that
listing for more info. He is a son of Lewis and Lavinia Putman and was in
Olmstead County with them in 1880.

46 MN, Sarah J. 46 CAN. There are two kinfolk, Myrtle A. 16 MN niece and
Richard E. (Ellsworth) 12 MN nephew. These are kids of his brother Frederick
Ellsworth. He was not here in the 1910 census. Fred’s wife Mabel died in 1901
and the two kids were ‘boarding’ with a Kidd family here in 1910. Andrew is a
son of Willard Putnam from NH. He was here in 1900, but was born back in
Douglas County. He was single in Beltrami County in 1910, and also listed as
single here in 1910 too. Richard will be married in Washington DC in 1930 and
1940. Andrew is here in 1930 and has his father Willard with him then.
ANNA PUTNAM Deer River, Itasca County

is 16 MN and boarding with David D. Cameron. She would be the daughter of
William Russell Putnam and Anna Elsie Stevenson and was shown at home in 1910
at age 6 MN in White Oak Township, Hubbard County.

County, Wisconsin and was at home there in 1880 and 1900. He was single in St.
Louis County in 1905 and here in 1910. They are all in Mason County, Washington
in 1930.
FRANK E. (ERNEST) PUTNAM Lac qui Parle County
He is
60 IL, and widowed. He has these children, Jennie L. 36 SD, Ernest 28 SD, Carol
E. 7 WA. Well, he's been here, done that and all such. He is a son of Kitterage Putnam and was born in Kane County, Illinois in
1859 and was there in 1860. In 1880 he was here in Lac qui Parle County with
his dad. In 1900 he and his wife Maggie Houck were in Grant County, South
Dakota. They were back here in 1910. His son Charlie is still back in South
Dakota. He will marry Nelie Mable Longworth soon on
June 19, 1920 and they will be in
Hubbard County in 1930.

Charles Henry Putnam. They were in Wright County in 1880 and in Kanabec County
in 1900, and she was widowed there in 1910. She is 68 CAN, Frank her son is 34

Counties abut each other up in the middle of nowhere. OBITS has the son Floyd
Emanuel as being born August 6, 1916 and died in Hinckley Minnesota in November

Euphemia Ramsey in New Lisbon, Ohio August 27, 1879. They are here in 1930.

there in 1930. He is a son of Hollis and Charlotte Putnam from Montgomery
County, New York and then Will County, Illinois. Josephine will die in
Minneapolis (probably in a hospital) on September 6, 1926.Dutch folks.

She is Josephine Vermilyea 66 NY, and she is the ex-wife of James L. Putnam,
and was married in Yellow Medicine County in 1900. She was there in 1910 but
divorced at that point. She lives with her daughters Pearl A. 44 MN, and Ruth
34 MN. They are all here in 1930 and she says she is then a widow. Pearl was
born August 29, 1875 and will die in Yellow Medicine County January 22, 1963.

Cochrane is the widow of Frederick S. Putnam. They were in Fargo, Cass County,
North Dakota in 1900, and she was widowed here in 1905 and 1910. She is 53 VT
and her daughter Bernice is 19 ND. There is also a boarder. Her son George also
lives here in St. Paul and was listed earlier. Lenna is here in 1930, but
Bernice will be in the Minnesota Hospital for the Insane in 1930.

75 NY and listed as mother in law of Albert A. Pollard. She looks to be Louise
Howell, widow of Samuel Porter Putnam, son of Rufus Austin (1329). She and her
daughter Grace were in Boston in 1900. Looks as if Grace married and the all
came out here together. Neither are in Boston or Massachusetts now at any rate.

a son of Robert E. Lee Putnam of Bell County, Kentucky. He was there in 1900
and 1910. His brother Robert E. Lee, junior is across the river in Minneapolis.
The family is originally from Massachusetts, and then settled near Louisville,
Jefferson County, Kentucky in the early 1800s. Robert Senior was a son of
Alpheus George Putnam, who was a son of George Washington Putnam II and
grandson of the elder George Washington who was a son of Israel Putnam II and
Sarah Waldo of Pomfret, Connecticut.

Henry Putnam and Minnie Hatch and is listed also with them in Little Falls,
Morrison County. The family was from Sherburne County, but he was born when the
folks were in Wright County, Wisconsin for a few years.

Hollis being born July 24, 1905 and died in St. Cloud in October 1986. They are

was in Minneapolis in 1900 and in Wright County in 1910. He is now 63 MA,
Jennie 54 NY, Arthur A. 29 MN and Benjamin 25 MN. He is a son of Lorenzo and
Mary Putnam (also here in Minneapolis). He was born in Becket, Massachusetts. I
can’t find him in 1930, but he will be here until he dies July 13, 1940.
FRED R. (REYNOLDS) PUTNAM Morris, Stevens County
He is
52 IA, Eva Watkins 50 IA and Paul W. 22 IA. They were in Cerro Gordo County,
Iowa in 1900 and here in 1905 and 1910. He is a son of William Rodman Putnam
and his second wife Martha, and was born in Hardin County, Iowa. His dad is
from Connecticut but went to New York and married before coming to Iowa. They
are here in 1930 too. The son Paul is in Orlando, Florida married in 1930 and
1935.

here in 1900 and 1910. He is now 54 IL, Sadie Bennett 40 MN, Hattie 21 MN,
George 19 MN, Arthur 17 MN, Alta 15 MN and Yvette 10 MN. They will be divorced
soon and he will be in St. Paul with his married daughter Hattie. He is a son
of Marvin Morris Putnam and Ann Gennette Wheeler from
Winnebago County, Illinois. Marvin was a son of John Wellington Putnam and
Minerva Scott from New York and then here in Winnebago County. Marvin died
there March 25, 1866. His widow ‘Hettie’ married Seymour Barker in 1868 and
Frank was with them in Winnebago County in 1870 and Freeborn County Minnesota
in 1880. They were here in 1900, 1905 and are still in 1920. They are divorced
by 1930 and Frank and his daughter Hattie are in St. Paul. Franklin was born in
Winnebago County Illinois May 31, 1865 and will die in St. Paul, Minnesota
February 12, 1942. He married Sadie February 19, 1896. She was born March 6,
1879 in Mankato, Blue Earth County and will die in Newburg, Washington October
4, 1972.
CHARLES P. PUTNAM Tintah, Traverse County

25 MN, Ethel Henrietta Greenfield 26 MN and Doris 1 8/12 MN. He is a son of
Parker and Ida Putnam and was at home here in 1900. I don’t find any of them
anywhere in 1930. But they were probably here and are still here in 1940. New
Hampshire family.
GEORGE PUTNAM Tintah, Traverse County
He is
44 NH, Jennie Johnson, his second wife, is 29 NOR (Bergen, Norway), Walter 21
MN, Ida 9MN and Louise 7 MN. He was in Stutsman County, North Dakota in 1900
with his first wife Jennie Olson, and here in 1910 with Jennie number two. He
is a son of Parker Putnam who was here then and is still here now. Traverse
County is right on the border of both Dakotas.

was here in 1900, and is a brother of Parker. He is now 63 NH and widowed. His
mother in law, Delia Williams 78 VT is with him now. Also there are three hired
hands. It also looks like he might have a dual listing in Minneapolis as well. Kinda interesting.

son has been here since the 1870s. He is now 78 NY, Harriet A. Irwin 67 IN. He
will die here January 3, 1928. He is a son of Pliny Putnam and Flora Egerton
from Arkwright, Chautauqua County New York and Winchendon Massachusetts before
that. Charles was born in Arkwright, New York October 17, 1842 and will die
here January 3, 1928. Charles and Harriet were married here in September 1871.
WALLACE C. (CHARLES) PUTNAM Winona County
He is
33 ND, Grace M. Gage 32 MN, Douglas D. 11 MN, and the twins Harry C. and Harold
W. are 1 11/12 MN. He is Wallace Charles Putnam born October 7, 1886 and will
die here August 12, 1966. They were just married here in 1910 and are here in
Whitewater in 1930. He is a son of William Washington Putnam and Rose Stadler
from Wabasha County. His family went briefly (1884-86) to North Dakota where
Wallace was born. They were all back here in Wabasha County by 1887, and here
for the 1900 census. Grace was born December 4, 1887 and will die in Wabasha County
July 19, 1968.
