Charles D. Putman and Lillie French in Dyer County Tennessee. I wonder if they
decided to have a second daughter after the first Mamie died as a replacement.

In 1930 they are here in Akron and he lists himself as Audy E. Putnam then. He and Sarah next times Sally are right ages still. Okay here is what I think. In 1900 Harding Putman and Mary Jane Jones have a son Named Audie E. born in Murray, Calloway County Kentucky born December 6, 1986. The middle name is Edward. He is there in 1910. Then in 1920 through 1940 this Andy Edward Putman is the right age and in his 1942 draft card he states he was born in Murray Kentucky December 6, 1896. Seems he didn’t like the name Audie and changed his name to Andy Edward Putnam. Even went back to the earlier Putnam spelling. Guess same thing bothered his son who went his whole life using the name A. Edward Putnam. So this family goes back to Jabel Putman from Kentucky and the Carolinas before that. Southern Putman family.

There is an obituary for the son Edward. States he was A. Edward Junior born in 1924 and died in Monroe, Wisconsin in February 2008. What ya know, same guy. Just didn’t care for the name Audie and changed his name to Andy Edward Putnam. Even went back to the earlier Putnam spelling. Guess same thing bothered his son who went his whole life using the name A. Edward Putnam. So this family goes back to Jabel Putman from Kentucky and the Carolinas before that.
