In the late 1890s, our gang starts finding their way to the Dust Bowl State.
Several of the family that started back in Hall County, Georgia are here. Willis Putman's son, Thomas Adolphus Putman, has moved up from Texas as has David Alexander Putman.
Harvey and Hawkins Putman, sons of Howard Mercer Putman, have come from Alabama via Arkansas and Texas up into Indian Territory.
Amos Putman's son, Zachariah, has a new wife and has wandered over from Missouri into Indian Territory.
Even a couple of members of the family from Jefferson County, Tennessee, James Putman and Francis Putman, have moved up from Texas.
Lots of Putmans (Dutch originally from New York) and Putnams (English originally from New England) came down from New York and the midwest for the good (at the time) farm lands.
Oklahoma was late in being settled, but true to our migrating nature, we came there just about as soon as we could.
